Always good to listen to your take on the show and the vans. A class is a great choice 😊. We had a lovely catch up with Heather, goodness knows how many miles she would have walked as we must have talked for over an hour. 😂 safe travels. Best wishes H&M. xx
Thanks both shame I couldn’t come but holidays are precious and I didn’t really want to go to the show in honesty, getting in early and basing the day helping at S&L was enough for me. Mixed feelings on A-Class as for me I’m a camper guy at heart coming from VW but when we hit 60 we want to stop work and lock the house up for 3 months like you…. Space will be more valuable than looks. ❤️🙏
Well done. Love the look of the vans for the future, Heather has excellent taste. We have a twin bed Bailey Adamo, really comfy, nice large boot and an automatic Ford chassis. Look for to going back to the future with you 😂
Great video and really enjoyed looking at A Class vans (not something I would usually do). A future purchase? Wow….. I must have missed a vlog along the way. As a tall chap, I guess the equation is comfort over manoeuvrability? As another tall chap, would love to see a vlog discussing just that point and your future plans. Spent a good half an hour chatting with Antony at S&L at the show on the Tuesday. Your ears must have been burning 😂. Well done both…… brilliant
As we said, we’re a fair few years off but once we retire we plan on doing 3 months tours and a panel van isn’t the best for that, don’t worry S&L aren’t going anywhere yet, we love the van! As for a “tall” option, stay tuned, there are plans afoot over the next few months 👍
Some really nice A class’ there, and totally with you on the price hike for the merc. We were pitched at the side of one of that Adria you looked at, really nice. We’ll just have to keep putting the lottery on. 😁👍
The A classes are interesting. It’s surprising how much more plush the motorhomes rather than PVCs are - suppose it’s way easier to do that in those as designed for the purpose. Out of interest what do you think of the width of A-Classes? It was width i found the challenge with rather than length which seemed to cause the challenge on the roads. Lovely finish though aren’t they - when we get around to retirement (sadly well over 5+ years I think!) fancy something a bit more plush! Hope you had a good time at the show, All the best, David & Rachel 👍
Thank you for the tour. It's great to see some A class(es?) on your channel, so cheers Heather! And Rick: happy wife, happy (campervan) life! Actually, are you guys married? Do you think you'll enjoy the A-class layout? Would you do your daytime lounging on the rear beds, or hope to find a front lounge comfortable enough for feet-up time? Those prices are scary. From the shows you attend, do you get the feeling that there are still enough people who can afford to pay these prices?
Believe it or not no we’re not married, both tried that before… I think we’d probably lie on the beds tbh, we had a motorhome and found sitting on the driver seats/dinette uncomfortable for more than just eating. I can’t see prices dropping but maybe they won’t climb as much? I think we’re probably the last age group that can afford this type of lifestyle, it’s a dear game. Thanks for watching 🙏
Strange as it may seem this is the first NEC video that I've seen for this show. I prefer the A class with the more open kitchen too - the others always seem so squashed up. The drop-down bed is a waste when there's only two people - I wonder if they'll ever do an option without it, it will save a lot of weight. All a bit academic for me though as I could never imagine driving one of those down roads in Devon and Cornwall .... I'm amazed Heather could remember where everything was - that place is HUGE !
Glad you chose ours then 🙏 I think some companies do offer a drop down delete, definitely a huge place it’s crazy, I was glad to get in early and hide on the S&L stand to be honest 🤣
We looked at a lot of similar vans albeit the entry level as we’re coming over to the dark side from a caravan 😂. I bumped my head when I tried the bed as if I were going to sit up and read. A friend had suggested this might happen with the overhead lockers. My husband has never driven a Fiat as they are so dominant I assume they are a good drive?
The Mercedes drive nicer than Fiat, the Fiat are nicer than Ford (my opinion) nowt wrong with caravans, I had 2 before the campers, many years ago mind! Thanks for watching 🙏
Hi, We originally had a Rapido 866F A Class from new (2014). We loved it and it suited our needs at the time very well - we travelled 90% just the 2 of us and our collie (I had a hatch put in by the dealer so we had access to the garage from the habitation area so the dog had her own sleeping area - great if we’d been on a wet walk as she’d stay in the garage then join us when she’d dried off). If you are staying mainly at sites and travelling on main roads - an A Class is no problem, but we like hiking so travelling through winding country lanes can sometimes be challenging. We downsized to a Rapido V68 PVC and love it - like downsizing a home, we’ve offloaded a lot of kit to fit the PVC. If you’re a confident driver, your full size A Class (typically 7.4m long and 2.35m wide) is so spacious but I would consider the compact A Classes typically under 7 length and 2.2m width). I know the all in one washroom is a compromise but we figure it’s the least used space. Oh - if you hadn’t guessed, we would recommend Rapido. Shame we missed you at the NEC - we were there Saturday too 😁
Shame we missed you yes, the A-class is a while away but we plan on 3 months or more away from home at a time when we retire, we’re doing all the small things now, then we’ll try A-class then maybe go to a small van when we’re old…. But who knows! We like the Rapido there’s a full review of a smaller one in a few weeks (C55I) Thanks for watching 🙏
