Thank you. She needs to give Franks ring to Breanna. She was so hell bent on Jamie being the love of her life but wants to aggrevate Jamie by wearing it

Exactly, Claire wants Jamie to leave the past but she doesn't let go of Frank and neither does John, what's going through her head? Her giving the ring to Briana is a great idea.

Love your take on Claire. I have the same thoughts and feel like most reviews only revere her due to her strength.

Lol Jamie didn't get on that ship because his business took him away for about a week and the ship left about 3days before it was scheduled to depart to Scotland

Jamie has one more notch in his belt and that is, of course, William’s mother. I loved this book too. Last few chapters kind of freaked me out a bit, but was awesome and the ending?? So good!

Yep, I feel the same about Claire in these books. There’s often a disconnect for me in her behavior, throughout the series, and it drives me crazy. When she found out about Jaime being married to her nemesis while she was away, she had a fit, but during the same period, she was back together with Frank, living a married life, albeit not generally happy, and didn’t understand how Jaime could be jealous about it. She wears Frank’s ring the whole time, I’m guessing in honor of the memory of her first husband. Jaime has no issue with it. Now, she marries John Grey and soon after, consummates the marriage while grief-stricken, not weeks after she learns of Jaime’s death. Nevermind about getting drunk and both her and John pretending they were fucking Jaime. That’s crap. Jaime shows up, not dead at all and Claire is like “oh there you are, you’re supposed to be dead.” She goes on to explain she was contemplating suicide and she was drinking heavily and needed to be touched at that moment. She doesn’t understand what Jaime is so upset about and feels she did nothing wrong. The worst part of the whole ridiculous plotline is Jaime lets her off, not exactly forgiving her. Claire is one lucky woman. Married to two guys who have stated that no matter what she would ever do, they would always love her and forgive her. In this most recent book, Jaime brings it up again, as he told her he might in the last book, and Claire is still adamant about doing nothing wrong. She honors Frank with the gold band on her left hand but doesn’t honor Jaime’s memory at all by jumping into bed with John Grey a couple weeks after becoming a widow. She even has moments where she’s almost reminiscing about her brief marriage to John and the gatherings they attended. Almost forgot about her getting Bree to write that letter. She definitely has a terrible double standard. Thanks for bringing that up. She needs to swallow her pride a little and own up to her mistakes. Great review by the way.

I don't think, Claire did the same thing to Jame that she did to Frank. I think She did the same thing, Jamie did to her with Laoghaire. The both thought the other was dead, or at least permanently gone. With Frank, she was in a completely different time. Anyway, not apples to apples. I do consider the genre to be more SciFi than fantasy now since it seems there is a scientific explanation for the stones and the powers they all have. The s/l I hope comes out more in the next book is Jemmy and Amanda. I think they are going to be super powerful.

I agree about Claire. Through out the books she impulsively does things without thought to out come. To me her wearing the rings is her selfish desire to hang on to both men , not really letting go of them is satisfy her needs. Jamie let’s her get away with it because he’s trusting his love is stronger, but actually it’s the lust that is stronger. And I thinks Claire is bolder about it because she thinks she’s stronger than Jamie because he needs her so. Frank did not need Claire to survive and she knows that. Thus making him the stronger character

Your review was great; I am one of those that buys the books and reads the last pages, so hearing the spoilers that I need are awesome for me. For my two cents, Claire should have ditched the ring when it fell thru the wood crack on her wedding night. That was the end of one, beginning of a new love with Jamie. Thank you! PS I have the book at my house and will get thru them one day, but read tons of history, for my passion, and traveled thru the Outlander filming sites a couple months ago; amazing for me!

I also always wondered about the gold band...and your incite on Claire. Loved the Frank stuff but am not enthralled with William....hope I change my mind. Love Buck.....and Jenny's relationship with Brianna. I consider this historical fiction with a strong romance & time travel element

Love your insight on the time-traveling aspect, that the non-Frazier connected folk travel for a historical type purpose, but Claire’s was accidental and the rest of her people were love. I wonder if Frank started seeing his girlfriend only after he found out Claire went back to Jamie. It is hard enough to love someone who obviously doesn’t love you but then to maybe incrementally find out they go back to their “real” love … that’s a hard pill. ( anger jealousy loss still difficulty believing in time-traveling you didn’t experience yourself.. lots of emotions he would have to maneuver). Also, is there a part of Jack Randall in him that he’s fighting? Like a reincarnation-ish connection???? Time travel and fantasy are fun) Don’t know but am looking forward to reading this one.

I totally agree. I’m conflicted about how I feel about frank. I think he did the best that he could in an impossible situation. Claire is not always the easiest. She does what she wants and the devil be damned with what anyone else thinks. I think frank knew a lot more than we know and it’ll be revealed later. I also wouldn’t be surprised if the car accident wasn’t connected to this whole tangled mess.

@@trinity1022 Yes, yes, yes, about the wreck. It seemed odd to me that he suddenly wanted to take Bree with him to England. (Not exactly odd, but something was a catalyst besides her becoming university age, perhaps.) On another note, have you ever read (because I didn’t see it in your video list) the Glass and Steele series by CJ Archer? I fell across them and completely fell in love. I wanted to hang out with the characters, and the love situation is a clean, slow burn. Romantic with historical and paranormal aspects is how I would categorize the series. I also just fell across your videos, so I’m super excited to listen to all of the other Outlander reviews and your other videos for recommendations 👏

I have not read the books. But I def agree it bugs me that Claire wears both rings. When returning to Scotland after Frank's death she should not have worn the ring. She should have symbolically left it all behind and took Frank's ring off to prove to Jamie she really is there to stay with him. Many of the choices made for these character irritate me to no end. Jamie is shown to be the most loyal person. I root for him so hard. Claire on the other hand makes so many bad decisions and you are right she gets so insecure and jealous. Their love story would be more epic for me if they were ride or die 100% of the time and not just situationally. Jamie seems to me to be the only one who is the most into it and would do almost anything for Claire. (mind you the actors are amazing and I like the show. I just get so annoyed by everyone except Jamie). lol Lastly, everything horrible that happens to Brianna & Roger fills me with rage. Bri & Roger are dragged into this world because of Claire. You couldn't give them an easier time. It's just way too many awful things happening to people around Jamie & Claire for me. They cause so much chaos around them and to themselves, IS IT EVEN WORTH IT? Especially that now she gets with John?! WTF. It feels like constant trauma. Toxic almost.

Frank was a multiple philanderer and a racist in the books. Read the sections where he talks about Joe Abernathy and his son. Frank does have redeeming features. However, he kept a lot of research and information away from Claire throughout their marriage. I am on team Claire in this scenario. I do love your reviews! Thank you.

I personally was very disappointed with this book. I'm the biggest fan of the outlander books but this one had the feeling of too many hands in it other than Diana Gabaldon's. I normally feel compete and excited after reading one of her books. Diana is such a descriptive writer and her flare for adding historical highlights feeds the love story, it wasn't there in this book for me. I think a lot of fans were just excited to connect and revisit with Jamie and Claire. Diana, please don't let your beautiful story be taken over.
