Tizaan (also spelt teezan/tizann) is considered a nourishing dish & is made with Finger Millet seed flour (which we know as Nachni or Ragi flour). Traditionally, the dish calls for fresh Coconut Milk (which has its benefits), but I have, here, demonstrated 3 preparations with a more readily available ingredient which is regular milk.
Tizaan provides health benefits and is recommended during winters. It is advised to have this in the earlier half of the day.
Method 1 (for the drinkable version, serves 1)
2 Tablespoons Ragi flour
2/3rd cup of Water (150-160ml)
2 teaspoons of Sugar (or as required)
A Pinch of Salt
2/3rd cup of Milk (150-160ml)
Method 2 (for the Warm-Pudding version, serves 2)
4 Tablespoons Ragi flour
1 cup of Water (150-160ml)
Half a pyramid of Palm Jaggery (50 grams; alter as needed)
A Pinch of Salt
1 cup of Milk (150-160ml)
Method 3 (for the Moulded version)
The same ingredients as method 2, just cooked longer and poured into greased bowls/moulds.
