To combat invasive species, walkers and hikers may now see goats in the parks they visit and alongside the trails they walk. Natural resource managers bring goats into the parks to combat invasive species like buckthorn. This video highlights some of the goats I saw while hiking my local trails.

I filmed the goats shown in this video in Lebanon Hills Regional Park and in Whitetail Woods Regional Park. Both parks are in Dakota County, Minnesota. However, many city, county, and state parks use goats to help control invasive species.
Goat Dispatch of Faribault, Minnesota provided the goat herd. They specialize in the use of goats to clear brush.

I too live close to these parks, Lebanon is my daily hike, and I’ve seen these herds of goats around mainly Portage or McDonough/Schultz Lake. I was shocked to see how many there were! You’re right, they are quite entertaining.
