This is a story about the challenges that Gocycle faced during "Bikeaggedon" and how the company plans to tackle the future after rebooting with its new range of electric and non-electric Gocycle folding bikes.
We appreciate the honest and open look into product production's struggles and challenges. Hopefully, better times are on the horizon. These are genuinely some of the most unique and innovative products on the market!
Love your bikes, have a G4i since 2021. Had no idea Gocycle was in so much jeopardy during 2020-2024, but I am very glad you are pulling through. Keep well, keep making amazing bikes and keep innovating.
I bought my gocycle in 2019 and I love this bike and the durability ,performance of this bike is a testament to the build quality. Please don’t sacrifice quantity for quality because that’s what makes your bikes awesome
I've got a GoCycle and its a great bike. The G4i is a massive improvement on the previous versions, however the starter on/off button is rather flimsy and could do with a redesign. I think it's time to bring out an updated G5.
Hello Louis, I’m commenting as Richard here on behalf of Gocycle. A very good PR Manager I know gave me some great advice - never read the comments. But yet here I am replying to one having read yours. Strange world and times….on how our life paths have connected on this Saturday morning. I’ve visited your sites and read and watched your videos which look good and informative. I’ve learned you are a programmer, and you created a piece of software called Gleam? Congratulations. And it looks like you are either the founder or lead developer in a team now of around 5? And also you appear to be doing work on the side as a software developer to make ends meet. I appreciate that world! We/I hire and work with developers and creatives a lot, software engineers, developers, some of them are incredible! building our back end automations integrating APIs with 4 SAP databases with our App, webstore, finance, logistics. I work with them directly on a daily basis. So I feel like if I met you and you explained to me more about your project, I could understand it and relate to what you are doing and trying to achieve and the problem you are trying to solve, and also the likely challenges you are facing and will face if you are trying to grow the Gleam business while working another job at the same time! I dedicated this video on my Linkedin recently to all the founders, creators, and small business teams out there trying to survive and overcome the challenges that are tougher than ever since the pandemic and the bureaucratic blob - that creeping darkness - that has been growing, stifling small businesses every day. Like commercial landlords run by pension funds that doubled rents back in 2021 when small business really needed help, bank admin and their constant crazy KYC update requirements, the new cloud capitalists with their monthly charges that are like rent now for any small business - those fees sneak up over the years! all the additional HR stuff you need now, governments that are slow to pay you VAT they owe you, and importation admin burdens like having to declare the carbon footprint on a bag of 100 metal washers as a small entity. Looking at your site you appear to be a vociferous reader. Mayby you subscribe to the view that Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy was about the dark forces brewing before and during World War 1. When I look around at the turmoil and change in the world since 2020 and the experiences I’ve had over the past years, that Gandalf quote resonates. I didn’t write the quote, but it really means something to me right now in the trenches and how I’m approaching life and how I view the importance of small businesses surviving and being celebrated and supported. I’ll not repeat the quote, but it's why I’m taking the time on this morning to reply to you. When you face challenges as a developer, founder, with Gleam, and small business teams, and you will or are, I hope at least you can take away something positive from this message. I’m fighting for those things we have in common and that I hope will help you and other small businesses to succeed. Good luck with Gleam. I like the brand name by the way. Kind Regards, Richard
