God Emperor's Lament 【𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝟒𝟎𝐤 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭】

Looking out upon the stars, the man stood upon a balcony of an expensive villa.. He had no name. He had so many. He did not yet have Terra, much less a million worlds, under his command. He had none like him, nor would there ever be any like him within his lifetime. A god amongst men, though he would loathe to be called such. Destiny curled its golden fingers around the innumerable threads of fate that would wind their way around his soul. He knew this much. He felt it. The movement. The ripples. The unseen workings of an uncaring predestination that coldly made its judgements. Blessed with a power that none could ever hope to match, in his life or ever after. But tonight, beneath a sky not clouded by toxic fumes or artificial lights, not by ships and clouds of incense, not smoke or the constant reeking stench of death, not quite yet the world of gold, the expanse of stars was so beautiful. Each silver pinprick twinkling away, yet holding their secrets to him within the black vault of the cosmos. In his mighty chest, he heaved a slow heavy breath, taking in the cool air. It played against his skin, like a mischievous icy imp was making his rounds. His simple robes did little to bar the air from his form. He didn't mind. He welcomed the chill of the night with open arms. Tonight, in the peace, in the chill, in the starry blanket overhead, he knew what came. Or, what would come. He saw the world of gold, the sky opening before him, yielding an empire to flourish and then die, of his torment upon a throne of his own design, his brow bearing a crown that holds all of the weight of his sins. So, he took his time. He engraved this memory into his mind. He knew it wouldn't be there forever. He took in the chill, in the stars, in the quiet, in the peace. Now, countless years later, upon a throne of gold lay a husk of the man, hooked up to immurmerable machines that kept him going. His mind was awash with visions, with the death screams of innumerable people gifted as he was. As he lay there in torment, in despair, in agony, the memory of that time surfaced, rising from the mire like its own little star. He clasped onto it and drew it close, sheltering it from the storm of pain and suffering, like a candle against the winds. A little light. Just for him.

"Carry the Emperor's will as your torch and with it destroy the shadows."

Imagine being wounded by your beloved son that betrayed you and to keep you alive, they strapped you to a life support system, then you are awake but your body is asleep and you just watch as time goes by, seeing your dreams burn with constant war and your empire crumbling, wanting to be taken off life support to finally see it end….

I occasionally play this as background noise in my living room while playing with my now 6month old son. Last time I played it he fell right asleep to it, presumingly to have dreams of the Emperor of Mankind, beloved by all.

Horus did far worse than kill Him, he made the Emperor and all of mankind suffer for ten thousand years. Ten thousand years of suffering as His body slowly rotted away and He was forced to watch his glorious dream crumble before his eyes. Ten thousand years of agony as He was forced to sit there and witness his beloved mankind descend into the worse forms of tyranny, corruption, and oppression. By comparison, Horus got off easy.

The figure spread his hands in an empty gesture of apology. -‘I know some people think me omnipotent, but there is a catch with being all powerful and all knowing.’ -‘Which is?’ -‘You can’t be both at the same time,’ said the figure with a wry smile. -‘So what happens now?’ -‘I finish the game.’ -‘This one?’ asked Kai, puzzled. -‘No,’ said the figure. ‘Our game is done, and I thank you for it.’ -‘Will I see you again?’ His opponent laughed. ‘Who knows, Kai? If our game has taught me anything, it is that all things are possible.’ -‘But you’re going to die.’ -‘I know...’, said the Emperor.

I’ve gotten to the point in my life where I am genuinely lost. I am unsure of what path to take or even what lies upon those paths before me. And as odd as it may be to some, I often look to the works of Warhammer for inspiration and motivation to keep going. This fictional man, The Emperor, the idea grants me this will to keep moving. If In a universe where everything is broken, and the masses crawl upon their knees and fight to their dying breaths merely for the chance of peace, when it is nigh impossible to grant it as an absolute, those masses continue to move forward no matter the cost it motivates me. it moves my heart in ways I am unable to express. The Emperor protects.

In his prime, the Emperor was the perfection of mankind, a manifestation of the ultimate potential of his species. There was no field in which he did not excel, no physical or mental test in which he exhibited anything less than transcendent talent.

When fan content out strips anything GW EVER did in their decades long history and mountains of coin I am watching them burn with vigor and pleasure

I always liked to imagine something along the lines of the song 'Anakin's betrayal' too....for him to hear this, it must have been equally frustrating and extremely heartbreaking.

The Horus Heresy was terrible. His greatest, most trusted son turned against Him alongside half of his glorious Imperium. The battle was fought with all we had. Body after another, Brother after brother. Battalion after another, and planet after another. Untold billions have died to save this dream of ours. Not only has Horus slain The Emperor, he has also slain us. Ten Thousand years after the great battle, we still suffer. The Emperor had to watch his dream crumble before his eyes, second after another, minute after another. For Ten Thousand years has he sat there, silently suffering. His love for us is immense, he barely keeps the astronomican together to let us travel throughout the stars. But why? We do not deserve His light, We do not deserve to walk on these planets for which billions have died. Yet we still live. Why do we suffer in this bloated corpse of an Imperium? Why do we fight? The Emperor has fought for us, and we must fight for Him, for His vision, for His dream! Only in death does duty end! And my duty is to heave his torch across the Imperium to keep the shadows away. For He who sits. For He who suffers. For He who watches. Ave Imperator.

The Emperor Protects.

Horus was greatest Primarch... But as for me, this whole war lies on the shoulders of Lorgar and his entourage. It was because of them that Horus became an Arch-Betrayer. It was because of them that the Emperor ascended to the Golden Throne of Terra, living and suffering in agony and torment, and just watch, that his Imperium and his dreams crumble in time... It is because of them that the destruction of the Imperium, the extinction of the human race and destruction of Emperor`s dreams are on their conscience... It can be considered that Lorgar, Erebus and Kor-Phaeron are Heralds of Chaos, who staged the bloodiest and most terrible war in the history of mankind - the Horus Heresy.
