The High Lords are essentially a who's who of the most important people in the Imperium. Their power comes from the fact that they consist of people like the guy in charge of all the assassins, the guy in charge of all the technology, the guy in charge of the church, the guy in charge of the navigators that let ships find their way through the warp, the guy in charge of the bureaucracy, and similar people. At the highest levels, the Imperium can be thought of as a defacto oligarchy; the people in charge are the ones who already have the power coming together to assemble something that while not necessarily a functioning society is at least able to keep going from momentum.

36:00 So that's not what happened, what happened was The Necrons played The Blood Angels. The Necrons wanted to deal with this hive fleet but didn't want to commit their own forces to it. They lead The Blood Angels to this planet in The Hive Fleet's path then convinced The Blood Angels to fight beside them. The Necrons helps a lot during the first day but were slowly withdrawing troops each day until there was barely a token force fighting effectively making The Blood Angels finish the fight alone while they left. Killed a bunch of Blood Angels and wiped a Hive Fleet while not taking a single permeant necron loss.

Those old guys are the High Lords of Terra. One controls the Imperial Guard, another controls the Adeptus Arbites (basically cops/soldiers), the Master of the Administratum (he's in charge of the bureaucracies), the Mechanicum guy is the Fabricator General, , and controls the Adeptus Mechanicus, and there's other High Lords in charge of other things: Ecclisiarch Decius is in chare of the Adeptus Ministorum, Fyodor is in charge of the Inquisition (even if temporarily), and so on.

Some of the TTS crew made three 'Behemoth' videos about the first battles with tyranids. Very funny and lore accurate, you get to see the more of Papa Smurf and his dudes dealing with the 'nids

Especially how Tech Heresy could easily be used to destroy humanity on accident, is so foreign to their knowledge that the materials are impossible to get for humans, or worse: create a chance where the Men of Iron can return and cause another Abominable Intelligence uprising.

The whole thing of the Chaos gods fighting against everyone, including each other, is called the Great Game. They 1000% get together for a less formal games night every so often with all the other ultra-powerful entities, and big-E is definitely invited. _Especially_ in this alternate TTS version of the universe.

Hey Nux, if you're interested in the discovery of the Tyranids, there's a 3 episode series made by one of the people who worked on TTS called Behemoth that covers the whole thing.

It gives further insight to the Battle of Macragge & how the Tyranids consume the planets in the galaxy. Look for the video specifically made by Leutin09 titled "FIRST CONTACT"

The thing was that revealing some of the Necrons to still have personalities and the C'Tan were fractured and turned into batteries was only added to the lore of the franchise a few years before this series was made. Before that, the Necrons were only ever treated as mindless Terminator rip-offs.

Nux. If you want to read books specifically about the Necrons. I would highly recommend reading The Infinite and The Divine for a book about Trazyn and The Twice Dead King series for the story of Oltyx, an outcast Necron Overlord.

The MAJOR reason the Adeptus Mechanicus is so fucking wary of making or messing with any new tech is because any sort of sudden "inspiration" on a new project could be "Divinely inspired"... Aka Tzeentch having a laugh and tricking you into making a warp rift or just a bomb.

I have to recommend: The infinite and the divine since you really love necrons lore and want to star reading books. It is one of my favorites.

That bit with Papa Smurf and the Swarmlord is from Eliphas' own short series on the First Tyranic War, Behemoth. It's in 3 parts and pretty much what you can expect from these guys.

The marines Kitten was going to send after Trazen is probably “The Blood Ravens” aka the bloody magpies. They were semi-cannon(RTS games) when this episode aired but since have been in official books. Note I recall the writer stated something like TTS uses official lore since it’s so crazy and avoids fan fiction so the Blood Ravens were not directly mentioned. The Blood Ravens armory has supply issues, fortunately their many grateful allies “gift” them from Primarch war gear (demon primarchs included), Custodian power armor, “cleansed” Choas gear, and Grey Knight armor. Even if the allies in question don’t have records of gift exchanges. Somehow they had the personal warhammer of a demon Primearch in a corner of the weapons locker. Debate still raging over if the original was recovered or if the demon prince is using a forgery now.

The joke you missed about the blood angels is that in 30k they were known for being mad dogs , and psycho killers, nothing was beneath them, nothing was distasteful. Finding they're Primarc changed them. And they have been honorable noble warriors for 10k years, but the emperor never knew them as that l.

Fun fact, the original factions from 40k were a reflection of Thatcher era Briton (Orks = Football hooligans, Eldar = Aristocracy, Tyranids = Immigrants, etc...)

My favorite videos are the ones on the Emperor, the Tyrannids, the Solblades, Cadia, the Blood Angels, and Chapter Master Dante, but all of them are amazing, and you will not regret continuing the deep dive my friend, for you have only just scratched the veil. Many mysteries hide within the warp, and all must be found by Lord Nuxalore!!!

I hope Nux finds out about Commissar Ciaphas Cain. There are videos about him on English RU-vid, right? This guy is the closest thing to a comedy character in Wh40k, and so much information about the everyday life of the worlds of the Imperium!

The Necrons were once United under the Silent King. But he then fucked off in self exile at the beginning of time and so the Necrons just started conquering without him. They all have their own Empires now and when he returned many joined back to serve him but a good handful told him to go kick dirt for abandoning them.

The old guys are the Lords of Terra, a collective of leaders from different major groups in the Imperium that make laws and deal with other political matters. The oiled up strippers that the Emperor mentioned are the Custodians who weren't wearing their armor that he met earlier in the series.

@Nuxanor the Necrons used to be basically space terminators that have no emotion or personality and basically slaves of the C'tan is what is being referenced here 36:30 but at some point Games workshop changed that (witch was very controversial in the warhammer community).

The imperium is said to potentially be able to take on any one faction if they could actually focus’s all there forces in one direction since they have good just enough tech and numbers that can rival the swarm armies they really hit a sweet spot but having to fight on all sides even internally really limits humanity
