Fun fact: during the button mashing animations, the button is unmarked. This means you can press any of the main buttons, or all of them! Roll your thumb around the four buttons quickly to achieve maximum power!
he merely said that it's far from the hardest game he ever played. and on the hardest difficulty, most games that are challenging to begin with become that insane. I played it when it came out with my friends. I remember it being tough, but nothing crazy.
Ign is not the place for finding credible reviews, the only consistency they had with their reviews; is giving good scores to one "underappreciated franchise" Call of Duty
To be fair, the differences between level 2 and Die are super huge, so if do end up playing on hard after beating it, it's like playing a different game.
Top three problems with God Hand. 1 - Doesn't sell recovery items between substages. 2 - RNG stages. Sometimes you don't see a single demon, sometimes there are five of them. Which one is the less ideal circumstance is up to your consideration. Likewise, if a substage goes badly, you could go to the next one so beaten up that a sneeze will take you out, or you could go to the next one in perfect health because you broke a box and whoop, there was a random strawberry. 3 - Hard Mode isn't unlocked from the start. Nothing stops you from faking it, but it should still be available from step one. Bonus - You can't delete individual saves. The picture also lies because there is no gore to speak to. Sure, a dude gets his arm lopped off, but that's totally off screen. "often tries too hard to be cool" - Basically summing up every time Azel is on screen.
There are plenty of games where that's not true. An alternative would've been to have a button code that unlocks Hard Mode, could even have Gene make a comment of "In a rush for some punishment, huh?" if you put it in. The reason I say it should've been available from go with God Hand is because it can be convincingly faked, minus the fact that just staying in Lv.DIE in Normal still gives you an extra orb compared to real Hard Mode. At that point if someone is that convinced they want to do that, why not just let them do the real deal?
I had a bad thumb this game cured it the amount of precision I needed to dogde and move and beat the goons was getting crazy as the level progresses and as I come near the level die. Its actually a lighthearted smart game idk why they wrote violence and gore. I really hoped Elvis would be Gene's friend 😢. He was not that a bad demon he even beat those 2 goons who were disrespectful to the dead. Its crazy but I think he's Mexican and Shaolin.
Ehhhhhhhh sorry this review just isn’t doing it for me. I think anyone that plays and beats God Hand is cool by me but you’re kinda all over the place, your gameplay + commentary come across like you’ve only played the game once. You seem too set on sticking with the same moves which explains why you’re having issues dealing with multiple enemies, you paid no lip service to the practice area that allows you to try out new moves before you have even purchased them and by extension the fighting arena so I don’t know how much you interacted with them if at all, same goes for the casino and chihuahua races (tbf I saw one clip of the races, but you made no comment on them so idk where you stand on that). To top it all off, when you play new game plus you get access to more fighting challenges, new moves including actual God Tier versions of standard combo techniques, you get access to all the moves, roulette powers, and power ups you unlocked in the first playthrough from the get go (you have to buy them again, but this offset by the fact you earn more money while progressing areas and you will be performing better so stage clears will net you more gold), you get to play music from the jukebox, and you get to change Gene and Olivia’s costumes at the general store. However, it comes across as you tried the hard mode to go with your ending skit on a completely new save file and didn’t touch the game afterwards, so you didn’t get to see new game plus. All in all, the review left much to be desired but at least you gave it an earnest shot, which is more than I can say about 2006 reviewers.
I feel like this game was lost in translation. If the dialect was Japanese and subtitled english then the game would have been better . Like Castlevania SOTN the english voice acting sucks but its an incredible game, then whey brought to psp and ps4 you can change the voice acting and its 100x better. I truly believe thats the problem here, from what it seems it looks great how ever the voice acting sucks
Not exactly. I have a Japanese copy of this game and the dialogue is still in English so you're kind of stuck with it. I don't think it's the worst thing in the world. To be honest, I don't even think it's the game's main flaw to be honest
This reminds me of this one series called High School DxD. It has elements that could get on people's nerves but it knows what it is and does a damn good job with it while having good characters, story, action, and funny as hell comedy. Especially if you watch the dub which is amazing.
Im a Dark Souls player,or i was, im not playin it now,and many people say its hard bla bla bla...Really?Try God Hand on hard dificulty...Holly fuckin shit!!!!!!I went to that fuckin gay boss that has alot of enemies to fight 1st and then they enter, all with same hp and rely on lucky drops..trust me..if you´re willing to test yourself,go...
@@aaaaaaaaaaaadddd lol i was playing along with my brother, one life each and i wanted to change strats on moveset because there´s really nice options and combos you can came up with, but my brother was allways saying : "man that takes too long bla bla bla" so i never played on my own 100%,i will try one these days to played from start with my own strats.Maybe i´ll reach further,or so i expect it. : ) Great game*
I was really confused when he said the game wasn't really that hard, then i noticed that he fought almost every single boss and a few enemies on easy (Lv.1) xD
You don't really have to remove anything, imagine the marketing money you could save by triggering the outrage mob with something harmless to normal people. It's not like you're losing many potential customers either, most of them are unemployed.
So, he complains about the camera being cheap, but he ignores the GIANT minimap in the top right that marks all the enemies which prevents them from ever sneaking up behind you. Also, the camera will never block your view, and it will make anything that could obscure your view completely transparent. What an awful review. This game is amazing.
Hopefully a dev, or friend of a dev reads our comments. I am thinking of buying a PS2 and only this game off eBay just to play it again. An absolute masterpiece in every way.
After seeing this review, I'm definitely getting a decent mic, and starting doing reviews. (Much. Better. Reviews...) GodHand was the best game on PS2. Period. Made the system worth buying even if it was the only game. Also, there were glaring self-contradictory comments in this review which doesn't help legitimize it's claims.
god hand falls in the "so bad it's good" category, except it actually IS damn good. the fighting mechanics are on another level, controls are tight, responsive and merciless. the entire game is the evolution of "trash", everything's perfect in its nonsense madness, it has probably the best ending credits ever done, but most of all it's the best fighting game of all times. if you like beating people (men, women, midget, robots, demons) god hand is the genre climax.
Try enter a boss fight in level die. When you kill someone in level die, they're rarely drop anything especially fruits. It's the dynamic difficulty again. The recognize your level and more likely your death counts. If you're death a lot in one stage... the will become generous and start dropping you with helpful item. Regarding being stuck in the corner, up dogde is there for you. It's give you 100% invincibility to any attack from any direction. But... i know the timing is not for everybody.
A. It's pretty difficult keeping track of what the enemies in front of you are doing and paying attention to the radar at the same time. B. The radar only shows the position of said enemies; it does not show what these enemies are doing or the attacks they are about to perform, this is especially problematic since many of them have long range attacks and grab moves that are impossible to counter and can deal a devastating amount of damage, having the player constantly back flipping and dodging for no other reason than pure caution towards these instances. Same goes for boss fights whose attacks take less than have a second to land on you, namely Elvis. PS I'm talking about hard mode here.
@@linkinpark4everize A. it is pretty difficult, but that's part of the appeal. B. The radar doesn't only show positions it also shows projectile attacks, allowing you to dodge those with ease. Enemies only attack the player from outside of camera view once you've levelled up past Level 0, they usually get close so you can see their attack animations over your shoulder and they always make a sound announcing their attack. Difficult but not unreasonable or unfair.
@@jesusstaccato8448 A. Subjective , don't see any appeal in constantly getting blindsided or having to constantly dodge out of pure caution. Something that could've easily been fixed if the shitty fixed over the shoulder camera along with the unsolicited auto targeting system were to be removed. The auto targeting system pretty much makes it seem that gene has no peripheral vision. B. Projectile attacks literally take a fraction of a second to reach you, showing them on the radar can hardly ever be advantageous unless you're lucky enough to glance at the radar at the exact instant that an enemy is firing one at you, or if said enemy was in your field of vision while you're dealing with another one if not more. The grab moves that can't be countered are another issue, basically you need to look at the radar and if you see an enemy approaching while you're already dealing with other enemy/ies, you just gotta back flip right away cuz you never know. The female ones especially can always easily jump onto you out of nowhere even if they're not that close. Again, most of these issues could've been avoided without the shitty control/camera system. Even Bayonetta which was developed by the same people didn't have it. Shinji Mikami was one of the reasons this game wasn't as good as it could've been I think. Also what level 0 are you talking about, the lowest level is 1 and the highest is die. I'm talking specifically about hard mode wherein the game is constantly stuck on the highest level. Completed it four times BTW on that mode.
hm hm..one or two hits and BUM you´re dead bro!I know this...its really that hard hahahahaha, will demand a very wise choice of combos and of course some experience.
There is a funny gesture that Gene can do its available on Normal difficulty it is called Grovel in the Roulette wheel it lowers the Die level to level 1 the enemies laugh at Gene as he bows to them basically asking them to take it easy on him.
I remember God Hand being pretty badass. I also didn't even see the IGN review of God Hand. Also I miss the old PS2 games that didn't make it passed that generation. Remember games like: Mark of Kri and Rise of the Kasai Onimusha 1-2-3-4 Dark Cloud Killswitch Obscured 1 and 2 Black State of Emergency Soul Reaver 2 Blood Omen 2 Bloody Roar 1-2-3-4 Crazy Taxi Dead to Rights Def Jams True Crime Streets of LA and New York City
beating god hand on hard is probably my biggest challenge I've ever completed in a game. The amount of effort in dedication i put into it should make it worthy of being put on a resume.
I arrived to that homosexual boss ( i don´t remember the name, was a long ago),the one that you have to fight a serious of enemies first, then they jump in and i just went rage mode and stop playin hahaha,i believe luck is a important factor as well somewhat.Congratulations on your acomplishement!!!!Sorry my english*
@@wearejustletters8370 yeah on normal the last guys you have to fight before the bosses are two fat guys i think, but when you're on level die two elite brawlers or whatever they're called bust in through the window which feels like a boss fight it self lol.
@@LunasLostLove ikr!!! and those strawberries almost never appear and when they do,its literally the best fealing there is! hahahah but even so...LOL x )
Took me around 35 hours to complete it on hard mode the first time around, then the second time I was able to cut that down to around 14 or 15 hours, kinda hated it honestly.
Man i remember playing this with my big brother when I was a kid i loved this game so much it has a huge nostalgia factor for me and if I go back to it I hope with all my heart I'll still love it
The ending where you showed a montage of deaths. The way he sounds when dying reminds me of the cheesy voice actor death screams from that dreamcast game, "House of the Dead 1 and 2".
This is probably your best video so far. I've been here watching you since 2012, I remember your New Years video from years ago saying you wanted to do reviews, and I'm glad you're actually doing what you wanted to do.
Their review of God Hand was so bad and so uninformed, it transcended mere unprofessionalism and reached actual slander for the game, they should've offered financial recompense to the game's creators and fired the incompetent journalist who wrote that review
The Drunken Master style always stunned enemies no matter what, they could never react to that style. I always used the speed punch into a stun, back into a speed punch, with a air kick. Angra was a stupid end boss. The Devil Hand should have been the final boss. I hated this game so much, but at the same time, I loved playing it, lol. I beat this game 4 or 5 times. God Hand was infuriating, lol. Shinji Mikami is a messed up person... On a side note, Easy(Normal), Normal(Hard), and Hard(You don't beat this game without going through a few controllers). The difficulty transitions from Japan to the U.K. The U.K. version then comes to America. Catherine has the same system. It's weird.
Whats good bro💪🙏 I'm promoting my indie game called 2nd Child the gameplay style is really different I would like your opinion on it💪keep striving bro keep the great content coming
Thanks for the video. Found it odd no mention that God Hand is a parody game poking fun of anime conventions and pop culture and video games. It makes it pretty clear with the parody of the Resident Evil warning screen as the game has no gore but for people not into anime it just looks like a trashy ridiculous game by accident rather than on purpose.
