Philosopher Nancy Abrams presents a radical rethinking of God for the global scientific community, ideas first expressed in her prize-winning book A God That Could Be Real. Expanding on Jung's idea that we have a capacity for God, the use of a symbol to express the universal need for meaning, she sees God as a real and emergent phenomenon. It is up to us to tame it, as we have tamed fire, and this is a project for science. "We need to let the universe teach us about God," she says, rather than the other way round.

From a non-dual perspective, aren’t we all part of God, emerging from the unified field which is God, as is all of matter? Complex interactions between the cells, and the “you” that is I, and, “us” emerging from God, as well as the ants, and bee’s, and the universe, and all of creation is just God interacting with itself, or yourself.

Sounds exactly right in my Quantum Universe, and we have to send good thoughts out into the Universe to help it grow, all our negative thoughts go into the Black-Hole. Our Creator wants to know how we helped the Universe grow? Love always helps.

Whether or not you are a 'believer', surely one of the tenets that would constitute 'God' is that it did not 'emerge'. It is that from which all that is, 'emerges'.

I came to the same decision point about God and as a result rejected religion and kept the concept of God. After that I explored the concept of Logos and was introduced to the theory of reality as being a virtual reality which has consciousness as it's source of being. It is necessary, IMO, to view reality in this way in order to makes sense of how the God thing works out. I think it is real, I just don't know what it is. A mystery. But I have not encountered a way of thinking about God that is more in tune with reality, than this way. It doesn't mean it's right, it means it's satisfying and that life and existence is a mystery and it is this mystery which makes humanity inquire about what this existence means.

Yes, speculative opinion put forward as common sense. Ants are infinitely more advanced than we can observe and measure using scientific tools. Just like all life, we cannot see its source in this reality

Why do we have to go to science to verify our inner spiritual experiences? Secondly, where is the data that ants don't understand what they do??? Who measured their ant world? This is just disturbing assuming.

Sounds nice but...If we follow this émerging concept, The 'Devil'would be the powerful deity created through humanity's activity. The art, beauty and love humans created sadly does not compare to the horrors we inflicted on each other and every other living species on the planet. Sounds gloomy i know. So luckily i do not believe in this emerging' thesis.;-)

We are not so much an aspiring species as a validational one. The entire human experience can be seen as a search for validation. The Conscious/Intelligent Universe created us in order to experience itself

AUM is GOD - A=matter/energy, U=emotion/feelings mind, M=ahamkara/sense of individuality ("i" thought) and Turiyam (fullness of silence/stillness). AUM , the whole creation, creator, and created. it is not a concept, not a philosophy, it is the TRUTH.TRUTH that changeless, substratum of all changes.

Blah blah... blah...you don't have to struggle so much to understand who GOD is? GOD=Existance. (Veda: Sat evam itam Agram Asit) without existance nothing exists. Existence is intelligence, it is infinite, it is evolved into everything, as everything, dissolved into it.... "I am" that. "I am" GOD. As Jesus said, "I am that I am". Everything here is GOD. Finished, you don't have to crack your head. Vedas already went through all these analyses. Brahmaeva Satyam (Absolute is TRUTH).
