Hey man! It's great that you like the sound of my snare! That was a tama starclassic performer birch/bubinga. I usually tuned it quite high on both sides. Obviously, i tuned the batter head higher. I like to let the snarewires breath, so i don't tighten those too much. Also, and that was a Gavin Harrison tip i read somewhere, you can cut some wires (the outside ones always). So, if you have, say, a 20 wires snarewire you can cut them so you have, for instance, 16 (cut 2 on each side). Hope this helps you get a better sound from your snare!
