God of Our Fathers, Whose Almighty Hand | The Tabernacle Choir 

Unfortunately, having been born this century, I did not grow up singing this. Yet having heard it now, Lord willing, it will stay with me forever. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised.

Yes, I remember singing this in grade school, too. And even though our world is ever changing, I thank God He is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. Most of all His truth lives on when songs like these continue to echo throughout time in memorial.

God of our fathers, whose almighty hand Leads forth in beauty all the starry band Of shining worlds in splendor through the skies, Our grateful songs before Thy throne arise. Thy love divine hath led us in the past, In this free land by Thee our lot is cast; Be Thou our ruler, guardian, guide and stay, Thy Word our law, Thy paths our chosen way. From war's alarms, from deadly pestilence, Be Thy strong arm our ever sure defense; Thy true religion in our hearts increase, Thy bounteous goodness nourish us in peace. Refresh Thy people on their toilsome way, Lead us from night to never-ending day; Fill all our lives with love and grace divine, And glory, laud, and praise be ever Thine.

I remember singing this in grade school and Junior high. Life was much better when God was in our lives.

This is the best Tribute I have ever heard for our Lord Jesus Christ.

May God raise up mighty prayer warriors who will fervently pray for our once great nation who honored and loved our God, may he raise up laborers into the Harvest armed with the Truth the salvation is through Jesus Christ. I was reading the hymn "God of our Fathers," a prayer for our nation. I find its words and found these decisions far more vital than the ones most of the USA is worried about. These are the proper responses to God's blessings in these two verses. You might also note how far we have strayed from this prayer: 2. Thy Love divine hath led us in the past. In this free land by thee our lot is cast. Be thou our ruler, guardian, guide, and stay. Thy Word Our Law, thy Paths our chosen ways. 3. From wars alarms, from deadly pestilence, Be thy Strong arm our ever sure defense; Thy true religion in our hearts increase, Thy Bounteous goodness, nourish us in peace.

I just came from a Fourth of July concert in which they sang this hymn. I have known it all my life but this was the first time I really slowed down and read the words. I was deeply moved and stood in awe of the magnificent God who rules the universe. I also stood in honor of my father who served in the army air corps in World War II and my Marine nephew who served two tours in Iraq and was wounded both times.

I'm not Mormon but your choir music is beautiful.

WHEN I WAS A LITTLE GIRL I LEARNED THIS HYMN IN THE LUTHERN CHURCH AS WELL AS BEING ABLE TO SING IT WITH MY FELLOW GIRLSCOUTS AT OUR MEETINGS IN THE 50,S . NOW AS A 73 THREE YEAR ADULT I STILL SING IT AND TO ME IT IS THE MOST MAJESTIC HYMN IN ALL CHRISTANDOM. THE WORDS EXPRESS THE CHERISHED BELIEFS OF ALL CHRISTIANS NO MATTER WHAT BECOMES OF THIS WORLD THESE WORDS ARE THE TRUTH OF THE REALITY O F GOD

We must sow good seeds to grow closer to God…we make mistakes, but repent and do a little better every day. Do not fall behind!! If you have, do your best to catch up….but feed your spirit and do good every day!!

I love this beautiful, patriotic hymn with Mack Wilberg's arrangement. In the hymnals there is a fanfare for trumpets that I do miss, however. Probably because our son, Michael, played the trumpet, and played this hymn. He was one of 2 Freshmen in his high school band that was asked to play with the "Trumpet Line" in the over 350 piece marching band. When he died Homecoming Night, six of his buddies played the fanfare while the congregation at his funeral sang. It was, and still is, a very special hymn for me.

"GOD OF OUR FATHERS" is the official national hymn of our United States of America.

it's amazing that as Christians we can love text of song and the melody that that supports it but can't approve of it because it was written by a man or woman that was of a different faith or even a different race. the contents of this great hymn lifts high our Great Creator as He should be. The sad truth is that this great hymn is NOT included hymn books endorsed by many of the major US organizations. let's get over ourselves and start looking at the spiritual content of these Great songs/hymn.

we sing a lot of these in the Young Adult choir . I was wondering why the Mormon Tabernacle Choir does not have like 17 year old & up in their choir. we have 4 choirs at church Jr choir,young peoples choir & young adult choir an Adult choir and a orchestra too

I really hated that the one year in high school, while in the band, we were playing this for the Spring Concert but I couldn't attend it because the 2nd half of that year I was going to Vo-Tech.

Another wonderful hymn. The only con;during the entire song all the musicians are hidden by the excessive images and landscape added to the video. I prefer watch the video without all that pictures and scenery.

It needs the trumpet fanfare before each verse.
