1:11:50 even kratos is confusing. "wait wha, why im here? boat? i remember that 1 seconds ago i was swimming in the air. oh that is the guy, never mind"
It's not perfect, it just lacks really big mistakes. Yeah, the glitched Olympus Strike (as a part of a high jump) is one of the most difficult techniques. It's not absolutely necessary to learn for doing all the skips I do, though. For instance the Cyclops skip during Cistern re-visit can be skipped in at least three different ways, not just with a high jump.
AKheon Yes, but in this Cyclops Skip your way is the best, the other depends on luck for Kratos to get out of the Map, and there is a possibility of falling and dying. As much as it has errors, it is very difficult to hit everything, this is a difficult game to do Run.
If they still make point 'n' click adventures in this day and age, surely someone will continue to make hack 'n' slash games. Even if "trends" change, gamers don't suddenly stop enjoying some classic genre.
This game has some coincidences with the new mytologhy like the statues of horses with more limbs and the manticore that is the closest thing to dragons
Finally got some free time to watch. General:I quite like the use of the roll+sprint tactics. 2:49 - 3:09 The good handling of someone that knows their route quite well. It's the little things like this that make a good run, Shen would fight for every second. Every roll counted, every second valued. 8:48 - 9:06 Again, the little things. 28:54 Got there in the air, deceptively tricky. 29:27 I recall a Dev's jaw drop upon seeing this skip. I think she said something like "Oh?...I remember this 'room'..." 29:50 Is this a modified version of this skip? 31:17 First attempt, nicely done. 31:44 We really need a skip for this. 32:22 I'm quite fond of this skip. 33:10 Pity Tremble speed glitch doesn't seem to do much here. 34:05 Thanks Robin! (I miss hearing her cackle). 34:17 Ugh! This dreaded sequence. 56:15 Heh. 1:08:08 A fav skip. 1:08:13 Broken Destiny? 1:08:27 Very nicely done. 1:10:22 Brave, isn't that a potential game-ender? 1:11:44 It wouldn't be a GoW speedrun without a good air swim. 1:18:06 Best magnetic ledge in the game. 1:20:56 Damn you Papy! 1:23:20 Moving right along, then. 1:23:51 Isn't this a new skip? 1:40:48 Quite good. With this game, you must have your heart in your throat any time you see "Tallennetaan..." on screen. 1:44:26 Someone should be fired for this entire convoluted puzzle. Quite good overall, decent handling and many skips done on first attempt. It'll take some effort to beat this, congrats on the WR!
+findlestick at 29:50, yes. I use a slightly safer version of the skip because I found the regular NG way was a bit too unreliable for me. at 31:44, yeah, more skips wouldn't hurt. At 33:10, you can skip the climbing with a tremble speed glitch, but I never found a safe setup for doing it here. At 34:05, yep, it's a really nice skip. At 1:08:13, doing some Broken Destiny motions at the end of the skip makes it almost 100% guaranteed to work, so I do so for safety. At 1:08:27, this is a pretty tricky jump technique for sure. It remains to be seen how well other prospective Ascension runners will learn to do it... At 1:10:22, just holding down on the R-stick makes Kratos roll down safely into the water. But yeah, before this safe setup was found this trick was a potential run ender. At 1:18:06, just a pity I couldn't do the full version of the skip this time around. At 1:23:51, this skip was in my last run too (from 6 months ago), so it's not exactly new. And thanks.
@@akremmuslim455 You start with all equipment (except story-related items) at max level on NG+. This generally makes it easier to do skips around the game.
how does this glitch 28:07? to the hours trying to do but kratos n rises in any way, have any sequence specific to do or something? Thank you in case law this comment.
You have to do Ice L1+square and Falling Helios (hold down triangle) in air repeatedly. You need to start doing these two attacks as soon as possible after your double jump to get any height. Also, I think this jump doesn't work as well if you have patched Ascension. At the end I do Ice L1+triangle and Ice Rage to get a little bit of extra height.
I've noticed the music occasionally cuts out for no good reason. Is that deliberate glitch you triggered for giggles, or does the game just do that sometimes?
+theenglishman Believe it or not, it's all Ascension's own inner working. There are a variety of music glitches that can happen in it. The one in this run, where several cutscenes lack music, is a fairly common occurrence.
14:00 With this output, making them spawn into RO isn't necessary. 21:40 Got to say, not a fan of gimmicks. Weakpoints that don't mean shit? Even the two that do don't work as they should. 22:40 Got it just as it became vulnerable to damage (think it was something like 9HP). 42:01 I suppose this means you're playing a patched version, then. 42:12 Or things were just less broken before patching. 45:42 My only contribution (horsing around) where this field of work from before my return is concerned. 46:59 Thought you could go to this one a little earlier. 1:02:24 Gimmick time. Believe it is about hit count (~11). 1:13:15 Crazy how they finally managed to make some air held attacks to repurpose old multi-hit crap (good mostly just for movement in the past) into the dps option. Also, they let souls be strong. Easily overshadows even the RO strat (this time). 1:23:19 Beats the Hell out of some strict jump I had to do for skipping this earlier than usual. 1:26:56 I imagine Wasted Potential would be the fate of using my PAIN+ strats for optional avoidance of clone use for the first ride (if it even loads the next zone **which it very well may, thus skipping Furies 1, but consequently meaning you will not obtain OSoO before moving on to the Furnace**). 1:27:58 Why did they make this hive tenfold as durable as the others? Bizarre. Wish I had as easy a time skipping it in all those challenge runs. 1:28:51 DaS3 and Sekiro got ideas from seeing this glitched arena, I presume. 1:30:10 Now she can only be hit during the summon animation. Weird how her HP doesn't match-up with how many javelins (can hit whenever) it takes (4, 6 and then 8) with the intended handling. 1:30:36 Now she goes gimmick mode (~3 hits while hard to reach). 1:43:13 One OSoO issue averted. 1:47:13 Thought this bit could be skipped (during the fight) without consequence. 1:51:35 OSoO would (if getting this far worked) end the run here, then. 2:02:55 Wish I knew how the insta-kill on Amazons (riding the Queens) along the background kill wall worked. 2:03:13 Hurts my soul to see it fail like this even in the version meant to work best. 2:03:58 Shame it spawns here rather than at the back. Landing the Ice dump near enough to the kill wall sends him into it. Speaking of that move, why weren't you warping with it earlier? I presume this video was before that finding. The reset of build-up using the dump is just another injustice against the mechanic. So persecuted. 2:04:40 Behold, the only centaur in the game I couldn't find a way to toss off a cliff. 2:08:27 Would have been nice for my NG+ Ice NER (along with some of the other non-combat skips). 2:14:18 Good of them to have this move suddenly hit airborne. Hell, in S4 it seems to have i-frames (Muna and myself suspect ending S4 while she is in them might be the cause of a crash). 2:14:31 Gimmick for this is something like wait 20s or do 20 more DMG typically, I believe. Things in this game are not always reliable, so it is hard to say for sure. In PAIN+, I remember the x2 Empusa fight having the AI behave differently (only one approached while the other hung back whilst I abused a boundary **apparently not always how it works**). 2:15:28 I believe restarting without using EoT during the next attempt would avoid the first tentacle even having the barrier. 2:18:36 Poor girl never had a chance with souls skipping S4 (whose idea was it to make Tissy so much more tanky than Ally and not allow friendly fire of Biggie on Smalls) and S5. Also weird how much more meter s4a builds than usual during this fight (especially on the Big Bass).
42:01 - Enemies usually fall and shatter, but not always. 45:42 - There's a chance that this glitch would help save time in combat too somewhere. 1:02:24 - Not about damage but hit count? That's useful to know. 1:51:35 - If you mean what would happen skipping the Oath Stone, then yeah, it might be impossible to get past this part without it. 2:03:58 - What do you mean by warping?
>usually Better than pretty much never (without bugged approaches to make it work), I suppose. >save time in combat Probably only really with NUR/NUR+. I'd expect my ring-out strats for Mongrels/Centaurs would be useless much of the time (thanks to skips, too). >useful to know The gimmicks are worth knowing, yes. >might be impossible With the techniques that exist, certainly. Wouldn't surprise me if it is like the AQ trial skip (pipe dream as you can't just hit some trigger to keep regeneration MP). >warping The thing your guide describes (and another video showed) with Ice dump on objects in some scenario to teleport to another location (marked in some fashion). I remember it most being used for the Furnace (when moving around the melted gold or whatever).
+AKheon Can't you do a sraight speed run on this man ? I mean normal gameplay titan mode. Beacause there are awesome speedruns on GOW 1 and GOW 2, but there are no any perfect speedruns neither on GOW 3 nor GOW Ascension
I agree that it would be nice if there were more runs of God of War-games that included real combat. Everyone in the recent while has exclusively ran New Game+ easy runs, simply because it's the fastest category. Maybe some day the situation will improve... As for Ascension, I don't really want to return to it at the moment.
+AKheon Of course it wont be such a powerful speedrun as in GOW 2 beacause we don't have such a classy weapon like Barbarian Hammer wich provided the key for speedrun infinite jump, and vicious power. But anyway it would be interesting to see GOW 3 speedrun
No, this run was made on the unpatched version. Patched is mostly the same, except the Broken Destiny jump gives less height and thus makes some skips harder.
You're interested in running Ascension? I wrote a guide for Ascension running and it is hosted on speedrun dot com, you can read there how to avoid the most common crashes of the game.
I've written a glitch FAQ on Ascension at GameFAQs which explains the known glitches. Check it out first, and after that that if you still need more tips about some glitch, feel free to ask.
AKheon Good Morning I am Brazilian , so it is hard for me to understand the site you told me , I would have otherwise we podesse talk , if not for you atrapallhar and clear. already downloaded your video of the god of war ascencion , and already watched him for over 30 times , even more tengo some doubts .
NG+ means New Game+. Game is started with all gear. Any% means completing the game in fastest possible conditions. In this case it means using glitches and on Easy-difficulty.
There are some bonus items that can be turned on when replaying the game, which will give you various powers like infinite magic and infinite rage. You should consult a FAQ on how to find them.
You have to do Ice L1+square and Falling Helios (hold down triangle) in air repeatedly. You need to start doing these two attacks as soon as possible after your double jump to get any height. Also, I think this jump doesn't work as well if you have patched Ascension. This jump is one of the more precise ones in the game, and you need a bit of luck to get across.
I recently wrote these quick instructions on it, hopefully they can help: "The basic part of the jump is doing Broken Destiny (air) with Falling Helios (air) alternately. Falling Helios (air) is also interrupted by quickly pressing L2 at the end of each attack. The jump starts from Lenient Air Momentum (LAM). This is done by doing Ice L1+triangle in air and then at a precise moment when landing doing a running jump. Then instantly start doing the Broken Destiny jump motions to gain height. At the top, to use your double jump, you got to switch to Lightning power and do L1+triangle charged version. This means you have to hold down triangle when doing it in a specific way. This causes the attack to interrupt, allowing you to use your double jump afterwards. Then just do Shield air attack with good air momentum after the double jump to get the final bit of height to get over the wall." This is literally the single hardest jump technique in Ascension, and it takes a lot of practice to do.
If you're talking about the normal Shield Jump, it's pretty simple to do. You just use the Shield air attack as soon as possible after a double jump, and Kratos flies in a high arc.

I have al the gow games exept this and and I play them just like gow they should be releast like my first gow was 1 and then 2 and then coo and then gos and then 3 and the next im gonna have is this A
+AKheon i've completed all gow except this i cant play it anymore my list is gow 3 gow 1 gow 2 gow Ghost of sparta gow chain of olympus but these two also very bad but not as bad as fucking ascension
It's a continuous Shield Jump followed by a bit of Broken Destiny high jump to ensure Kratos gets back in bounds. For the Shield Jump, just do Shield air attacks repeatedly with the air momentum as good as possible. For Broken Destiny jump, repeat Broken Destiny (air) and Falling Helios (air).
