Another tip, keep upgrading Atreus' arrows! He helps so much throughout the gameplay and makes fights/challenges more manageable with swarm of enemies. You don't know how many times he saved Kratos life🙌🏾
I'm just now starting it tonight. I believe all the other ones years ago. Now I'm trying to figure out the best way to play this one or any tips before I start lol
I started off with second hardest difficulty. the one before the very hardest. and littarly the first fight I died so many times that I had to go to normal difficulty.
*SPOILERS* Theres a grip that drops from the valkyrie queen that can nullify #2 on this list, it not only makes the R1 throw go in a completely straight line (never falls due to gravity), but it makes the recall actually SEEK OUT enemies to hit on the return trip. Its extremely cool and is my favorite pommel by far.
Playstation always had way better games graphics and durability then xbox period. Oh yeah just way more technology and thought put into everything that playstation has but to each his own. Playstation is the best system of all times, why because it always brought out the best games and Xbox just copies them. Facts
Add to it, I died alright after beating an ancient and was triggered. Thought I lost the loot from it. But it was at Broks. So you don’t lose that either.
Story of the game was great. But I couldn’t help feeling as if the hardest difficulty was cake compared to running thru Yharnam at NG+7 and cursed chalice dungeons
Nightmares are easy to hit, they made it so the axe doesnt even have to be accurately thrown and it still hits them, whether headed toward or coming back.
I started this game Thursday night and beat the story on Sunday. I only mainly went through the story to see how it was like when I played final fantasy 15 . Just like the second time I played through that I'm going to do everything in the game.
Liron Levi because I wanted to see how much Norse lore was in it and wanted to complete it. I'm already starting a new play through, I did do basically all the side missions except killing all Valkyries.
The rage talisman is the most op item in the game, and it's only a "common" item. The fact that you can regain health while in spartin rage and do massive damage at the same time causes this talisman to almost break the game. Just avoid damage long enough for it to cool down, activate it, kill and regain health, wash, rinse, repeat. A lot of people are tempted to use some of the more rare and fancier talismans, but I pretty much stuck with this little op nugget and it got me through give me god of war without much trouble at all.
If you *REALLY* want to feel op, master the Amulet of Kvasir. It has no cooldown so if you've mastered dodging, you'll quickly find yourself playing a Matrix simulator.
The most important thing the game doesn't tell you is you can turn off Spartan Rage by clicking both thumbsticks again. This is super useful in one of the Valkyrie fights where she has a fucking massive unblockable AoE. Just pop Spartan Rage when she starts the animation and exit when she's done. Shit's broken as fuck.
This gaming generation has been lack luster of new ideas. This game is like the best one so far and it;s a reboot of a forgotten series. The ps2 and ps3 days had some amazing games which never saw sequels. Now it's all reboots and sequels like cod and assassins creed.
Something I wish the game told you, if you have the throwing a boulder option in spartan rage, they pretty much two/three hit ancients and soul devourers.
There's only one take down animation per enemy type in the old games, too. I don't see why people complain about it in the new God of War. Did people forget, or are people blind?
But it was so many enemy types and how brutal they were they never got old but the new one it's trolls draugr orge nightmares travelers revenants the ice enemy ancient dark elves potion throwers and like 5 others
the ones that died with the O button had only one death scene. But normal enemies had as much as 3 different kill animations which was very nice. But, while im one of those guys who wished for some more R3 moves (especially for the blades and rage) im still satisfied cause you can always finish the enemies off with charging R2 with the axe.
BTW this is the best video game ever made. It's even better than Super Mario 2 and I was outside the store waiting for them to open the day it came out.
My friend bought this for me with the promise we would play it together. I thought “let’s try Hard mode, how hard can it be” (hard, not god). It’s freaking hard dude, sometimes it makes you wanna cry 😂
You're telling people to subscribe less than a minute into your video. Shouldn't you at least wait until after the video to make this request? This is my first video I'm seeing from you guys so how am I supposed to even know I like your content when I haven't even finished watching a fourth of one video?
This game and the Witcher are still nose to lips for me!! gow being slightly taller of course. So awesome and I do see a lot of Witcher lore and attributes in this game well many. AGREE WITH ME BOY OR HOLD YOUR TOUNGE!!!!
I noticed most of these myself while playing. I do have a couple questions though, What exactly is FROST? I thought it was chance to freeze an enemy, but is it just elemental weakness for fire enemies & resistance for ice enemies? How often do we use the kid's bow? Kratos said "speed costs accuracy," but it seems better to use it as much as you can. What's the best followup for knocking an enemy down? After dodging the heavy draugr's overhead swipe, bare handed R2 will knock them down, but they don't seem to stay down very long. I think I've juggled them before, but i can't remember how. Is it just me, or are Ancients too easy? I've never died to one. I feel like they should be buffed.
1. Frost is a status effect, much like burn, poison, blind, daze, etc. It slows enemies down. Some are resistant to it, much like how most are resistant to burn damage.
2. Use it as often as you can, as long as you know how to aim, because the effects from the arrows will make the difference between making it through a fight or wasting a resurrection stone, if you bought one.
3. If you've unlocked and purchased Executioner's Cleave in the skill tree, use it. Depending on enemy type and how much health they have left, it'll either kill them or send them flying back. You can't keep an enemy down for long because obviously, they'll get back up. You can stop that by juggling, and the best way to start it is with a heavy attack, i.e. R2. I'd also like to point out that some enemies cannot be knocked down. You'll know which when you encounter them.
4. My guess is you've never had one get down on all fours and turn into an active volcano on you yet. Like anything else, if they're a higher level than you, they'll be harder.
I almost only did the main story (I was very thorough, though) on the 2nd easiest difficulty and it still took me 35 hours. The game is very difficult even on that setting but it's so damn satisfying.
MrStensnask This game is basically a Souls game so I feel you on the difficulty. I think that’s another reason to go slow and do the side stuff - you get more powerful.
I agree. Now I'm left with Muspelheim and Niflheim and even though they're great I can't really use the things they give me for anything. After you complete the main story, do the favours and labours the realms become scarcely populated, sadly.
MrStensnask I’ve been playing on second hardest difficulty going through story to unlock areas then exploring side areas and fights before progressing further into the story. I have a habit getting side tracked with optional stuff 9 out of 10 times lol. Heavily reminds me of dark souls and I absolutely am in love with it.
Never played a god war game ever . Never was into these style of games . Watched someone stream it , gave it a shot and after the 1st 20 mins I was hooked
I have played the games, even read the books, comics.. but im kinda curious how u newcomers saw the gow4 experience. I imagine its quite interesting seeing this God struggling with his kid and his own past thats just hinted at in the game.. Then u go to youtube to watch the whole story and youre like "who t f am i playing as here.."
Another fun tip. Once you unlock the “fast travel” you can activate it to heal to full health. Then just press O without choosing the location to stay where you are
See THIS is a useful tip that the game doesnt tell you. Pretty sure the tutorial told me I could regen health through rage the minute I was able to use it.
This game FOR SURE just set set the bar very high for games and im excited for new games with this much detail and effort they took to actually make a good game instead of just a quick 60$ scam for a shit game with a flashy trailer
this game will be remembered for ages....I urge even PS4 haters to try this game. The moment you get past "hello old friend" trophy....game shifts gear.
@@murderddoll dodge and block a lot, as soon as he shifts wait for about .5 seconds and DODGE... OR BLOCK ( I think it's blockable). Also, with ogres you should always spam all your runic attacks, and use Atraeus's light arrows until he is stunned, and then spam r2
Quick tip: hard and annoying enemies like Revenants, Ice Reavers, Tatzelwurms and the werewolf-things (can't remember their name) are fairly easy to take out by using only your fists and Atreus' blue arrows. It stuns the hell outta them and gets you quickly to the red, R3-execution move. In any case, you should always use Atreus' attacks ALL THE TIME during fights. Makes things so much easier.
They're better for damage but the blue arrows are made to stun and that's what brings the red stun bar on an enemy up the quickest. When you're doing challenges in Muspelheim you'll see how effective the blue arrows are :)
Thymus-chan 81 this is actually tru I'm only to the part where u meet the witch for the first time and I already started doing half of these by habit or taking my time with the controls that an dieing allot lol
This. This is the best thing ever. Just such a major quality of life thing, I hate missable trophies and items more than anything. I AM LOOKING AT YOU-GWENT CARDS
The fast travel portal restores your health when you activate it. Don’t even have to travel through just activate it and you’ll get all your health back so that’s pretty useful
I don't think I've ever once even tried taking out Nightmares with my axe. For some reason it just always seemed so obvious that Atreus was ideal for that task. So it came as a surprise to me to hear how much people hate Nightmares like they're one of the hardest enemies in the game, when they've never posed hardly any problem for me whatsoever.
The axe still feels most efficient to me as it does more damage and I save Artreus' arrows for something that actually poses a threat, weird that anyone had trouble with those things
Im supposed...to... thank a guy that profited off of misleading me into watching his no-effort _borderline_ worthless video because if I don't my... generation sucks? You're a weird one.
Grundle Wizard What even are these replies you got there? Lol And RU-vid seems to have really embraced this game when it comes to "videos you need to see". Which you don't actually need at all.
When you say "borderline useless" you're implying there was some use no matter how small, I was only having a laugh, you on the other hand seem to take this comment section a bit too seriously.
When you're fighting Valkeries, they'll have an unblockable move that they do in the air. You can have Atreus shoot her to interrupt the attack. Update: I've been told that on the hardest difficulty, you'll need to use your axe.
Matt Roy you immediately get used to it And it makes more sense one you play as why they chose shoulder trigers Makes the combat + the companion much smoother
Yeah, I've definitely cheezed my fair share of nether realm fights by blasting the enemies off a ledge. This was the first game I've ever 100% completed, and I can't wait to go back for NG+!
Alot of hidden chests forces you to do stuff with the axe you wouldn't normally do. Like the arc trick. Or throwing it over a wall and recalling it to hit a specific point
There was one chest in the dark elf realm with there was a hole the wall and vines on the door and you had to throw you axe in the room through the hole and run to the front door and recall it that it could hit the vines and open the door for you
Tips i have Ogres- It may be instinctual to either take them down with the axe or focus on everything else first while avoiding them but no, have atreus fire arrrows while you punch him to make him a temporary mount to easily clear the room of other enemies.
After you kill the queen and get the axe pommel upgrade you can throw the axe in a straight line across the map. Also when you recall the axe with it equipped it will return on a path that hits every enemy in it's wake. It does it normally but with that legendary pommel it does it so much better and does much more dmg too
