Seeing Christopher Judge nearly cry throughout this video demonstrates to me that he has poured his heart and soul into this project and it paid off more and I ever think he could imagine
@@dootpooter4740 dude Chris Judge completely nailed it. Remember the episode where Teal'c and O'neal switch bodies? That man is a gifted actor that I hope will see far more opportunity
When Kratos finally opened up to Atreus and said he's sorry for his past actions and Atreus replies "Do not be sorry. Be better", and Kratos smiled, that made me shed a tear.
I don't play, but I watch my husband play this and I've never been sucked into something that wasn't a series/movie. I was so blown away by Chris's voice acting with Kratos. The pure, raw emotion he conveyed was so moving. I was sat in tears I love this guy!
I've heard the term "born to play a role" several times throughout my life. Robert Downey Jr being Tony Stark/iron man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, that sort of thing but Christopher Judge is the embodiment of born to play Kratos. While I do love the original voice actor from the games before 2018 Kratos, there's no denying Christopher Judge is immaculate as the older Kratos. Everybody in these games did a phenomenal job
Voice acting is highly dismissed at the Oscars, when it's as difficult as doing a movie or a play in a theater. Imagine having to play all the range of emotions that Christopher put into Kratos without the scenery, just pure imagination. He is amazing. Hopefully he'll win in the Game Awards or a BAFTA, like Ashley Johnson.
That scene when Atreus is about to walk through the gate and he bumps into Kratos was such a moment that I think we all felt when we got busted by our parents and it was magical
@@MrDumdumkilla there was a scene in the game where atreus asked howd he know when he was gonna apese and mimir tells him kratos waited until a gateway appeared worried sick
@@pabloguillermortega The scene you are talking about is the later part of the game where Kratos waits at Ygradissil for Atreus to come back in a moment of Emergency! The one commenter is talking about is the one where Atreus dreamt his way to Jotunheim and then Midgard and just as he was gonna use the gate to go back to Sindri's, He bumps into Kratos coming out from the gate and be mad at him for disappearing for days!
For real reminds me of the times in high school, coming home at 2am after a show, trying to sneak in and be as quiet as possible only for the living room lights to turn on and see my mom waiting for me on the couch with the same exact “where have you been” and “do not lie to me” this game hits close to home so many time and I love it for that
Seeing his eyes well up when he talks about his children, this game was more than just a performance for him. I think it's allowed him to accept things in his own life. Brilliant performance.
@@carlycrays2831 And sometimes that's what's needed for a better performance. For example, in high school I had a bad breakup the week before Battle of the Bands. One of the songs in my set was Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. Needless to say, I put my all into that performance and I don't think I'll ever sing that well again.
Christopher Judge's performance added so many layers to Kratos and the franchise as a whole. It's not just "Old man" Kratos, it was a rebirth of the character and IP. No disrespect to what came before, it was perfect for what they needed at the time just like Judge is perfect for Kratos now.
the previous actor wasn’t replaced because he lacked talent in terms of voice and TC would have been fine the issue was that they wanted to do mocap this time and TC doesn’t look like kratos he is slender and a bit in the shorter side. TC also does mace in most star wars* animated projects to give an idea of talent scope.
@@bll1 and? He would of been replaced either way. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal they didn’t call him to say they were using someone else. It’s a formality, not a huge deal. Would it of been nice for them to do? Sure. Are they somehow wrong for not? No.
@@Gwynbleidd_117 bro, that level of disrespect for someone who voiced 6 mainline games, not even counting guest appearances. He literally helped shape the character. A courtesy call is the bare minimum.
Christopher Judge may not have won the award back in 2019, but for me this is his year. The way He portrayed Kratos was so human, it's the most human Kratos has ever been since 2005.
@@JacoBee93 I disagree. Chris is my personal vote for performance of the year for sure, but we should rly stop acting like there weren't other amazing performances this year. Sunny was fantastic, Charlotte from Plague Tale and Ashly Burch also gave life changing performances this year too. So while I do believe Chris should win, to say he has 0 competition is a bit disrespectful to the incredible performances in gaming this year.
The previous one was truly a masterpiece and somehow they still managed to exceed expectations by out-masterpiecing it even more. On all levels, be it gaming, psychological, paternal, whatever... It was a piece of historical art. The passion that went into the production could be felt throughout the entire game, despite it being a little easier than the previous one. Thank you so much for everyones hard work on this "remake".
Honestly my expectations were low for this one thinking that it would be hard for them to top gow 2018. I was wrong. This game is just a masterpiece. Christopher and Sunny did an amazing job. I was just blown away by playing this game...
Schiffs Odin was not what I expected at all and ended up being even better and honestly made more sense. We were told in 2018 Odin was a paranoid manipulator/schemer and thats what we got. Thor was the brute and Odin was the brains. Their dynamic was amazing.
Here's to hoping Christopher Judge to win Best Performance in the Game Awards this year. His ability to act in very subtle ways especially with his eyes. His eyes can say a thousand words. He deserves to win this year.
@@Huda88754 She wasn't even nominated for that amazing performance. When she forgave Kratos and when she visited her wedding site are some of the best acting I've ever seen on any media. She was robbed but I guess they didn't want 5 nominations from 1 game
Christopher Judge as Kratos is quite possibly the best casting in the history of video games. His passion, intensity and dedication radiate from his performance. This video further cemented that for me, truly he has immense love and respect for the character. Also special shoutout to Sunny Suljic, he was perfect as Atreus even at such a young age and his performance in this game was even more charming and endearing. Boy truly has grown up into a worthy successor of Kratos’ legacy. Danielle Biscutti as Freya, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Richard Schiff the legend as Odin and every other cast member did a phenomenal job and their chemistry was perfect. Just fantastic.
His performance in this game was really Oscar worthy for me. To see this character go through this evolution to becoming a better person and to see those little moments, the emotions dealt by Kratos in the beginning of the game and with Faye. Praise Christopher Judge
It is. Sadly it won’t be awarded, but I think his portrayal of this character is undeniably one of the best I’ve seen in any media in the past 5 years.
@@tommyvercetti9322 TC Carson was nice, but his version of Kratos didn't get to perform these different emotions and levels this present Kratos goes through. TC's voicing was on point though
Is the Kratos actor leave or is the Kratos leave from the GOW world or The GOW game is End?? I don't want any of this.. but, i want to say The everything was really Awesome in the Game... really really thanks full everyone to let me play Ragnarok 🥺 i was really happy when i played 🪓❄️⚡️

Christopher Judge is one of the most underated actors of his time. He puts so much into the character and you can see as he talks about his relationship with everyone there that he truly loves what he does and who he is.
Christopher Judge's performance is Oscar-worthy. The humanity, across the spectrum of emotions, is unapparelled. You can see in this interview just how much of himself, as a man and individual, he brought to this role. It's absolutely unforgettable.
You can really see it very early on when Kratos and Atreus are talking and Atreus tells him to stop acting like a father and Kratos goes NO!!!!! Then breathes in and the look on his face is one of concern and almost hurt then he says no.... and that's how it ends. You can see he's not concerned with anything but Atreus being safe
The final moment between him and Atreus, saying goodbye to your son and trusting him as he becomes a man. Letting go and letting him be the man he’s raised him to be. Such a beautiful moment.
@@joantheringo1192 I honestly never had the greatest relationship with my father but. I hope to one day, with my future child, to have a moment like that with them. Not as young as Atreus (whose what, 13/14? Lol) but. Sending them off into the world and have them be the person I have raised them to be.
TC Carson did an amazing job capturing the unstoppable force of destruction that was the younger Kratos. Full respect to him. But, Christopher Judge's portrayal of the older, wiser, much more introspective Kratos was nothing short of masterful. What an incredible journey its been
Both Christopher Judge AND Terrence Carson did an absolutely PERFECT job as Kratos! Every single second of their dialogue was simply flawless and breathtaking. 100/100 voice acting.
I'm so bummed out after finishing this game because I know it's going to be quite a while before another game comes out that reaches this level of greatness. They truly outdid themselves with this one. My GOTY for sure.
Not often is the sequel better than the original game. But they f-ing nailed it. Such high quality stuff. I can't get over how great this game is. Oscar worthy acting, mind blowing environments and the best combat system I've used. How do you top this?
Christopher Judge gave a performance worthy of some of the best actors in Hollywood. These characters were better written than most movie/TV show characters these days. This is why these two games are stand out from the crowd.
@@dennisvanbeek3801 Stargate SG-1. It was a sci-fi adventure show from the 90's-00's that lasted 10 seasons and had 2 straight-to-DVD films to wrap up the show. He played Teal'c who was very stoic and composed, but who still had moments where he let his emotions show, especially when it came to his son Rya'c and his father figure/mentor Bra'tac.
Every single person involved in this game is excellent. Voice acting, animators, level designers, ect. From top to bottom Santa Monica is absolutely one of the best studios on the planet. These guys are amazing
Sindri was a personal highlight for me, that scene of him after what happened to brok was honestly one of the most emotional parts of the game and his performance was what made it so.
@@WamboWomboWompo Adam Harrington's performance really is something to behold in Ragnarok. Goes toe to toe with any performance in any videogame, as far as I'm concerned. The acting all around is just *chefs kiss*.
You can see in Judge's emotional last statement how much working with all of the production staff and performers meant to him. He gets a little teary-eyed there. And that's all you need to see to know how invested he is in bringing Kratos to life every time he has the opportunity. A TRILOGY, ANYONE???
This man left me in tears with his performance. Him and Sunny penetrated my heart in a way that I have never felt in any media before. I am truly blessed to have experienced this and gone on this journey with Christopher and Sunny. With Kratos and Atreus.
Christopher Judge seriously is incredible as Kratos. Really hope he wins every award possible for the performance given in Ragnarök. Really hope to see more of his performance in the future installments depending on the direction SMS take the series
Chris Judge was such a great casting choice.. Great actor and a great guy... At this point, I can't imagine anyone doing a better job than him. Every time I see him in something, it's always a treat.
One of the best and most emotionally moving gaming experiences I've ever had, and the definitive GOTY. Incredible. Thank you for sharing this beautiful BTS look. Seeing Chris Judge well up with pride when talking about his kids...man. This is more than just a performance for him.
This man will forever be Teal'C to me, he has been iconic for so much longer than this game and I am so happy that a wider audience is now able to appreciate his phenomenal talent.
bro i think he had massive growth or maybe the writing team played to his strenghs i dont know what it is but this game got the best of chris captured in 4 k haha..
Bruh, Chris had me tearing up just minutes after starting the game. That whole journey he does while sitting at the bonfire just got me lol. Man is a legend and all praise to him 🖖
The reason why Christopher Judge is so perfect as Kratos is simply because he resonates with the character and I (the audience) resonate with him resonating, in perfect harmony. Judge is a strong individual which you can see from his presence alone and the way he carries himself yet when you hear him talk you hear an artist a designer that creates life through his art and that reflects perfectly in Kratos. Obviously, the young violent Kratos is the one we remember but this is not him this is a new rendition of him, a father, a husband, and a friend. You see glimpses of his old self now and again but this Kratos listens, observes, and even learns. To say that judge was an amazing casting choice is just to point out the obvious but what I want to point out is that video game cinematography has always been moving towards storytelling, something that was previously only done by strict scripts but with Ragnorok I can say that due to Judge's he has set the benchmark for this genre. His art is revolutionary and his performance is absolute perfection. He truly does deserve all the love and praise he's getting and I hope more so in the future for setting a precedent in the gaming industry. Hats off.
Chris Judge understands Kratos on a fundamental level that other people just couldn’t. He put so much of himself into the character and I think he made one of the greatest fictional characters ever even greater.
@@realamericannegro977 How? There was no character to speak of, he was one emotion that is arguably the least nuanced. TC = rage, Judge = heart. The latter being the harder to perform especially in a character where is was all but non existent before. He brought a gravitas the character simply did not have and humanized him in a way that didn’t take away from the scope or consequence of his choices. This is coming from a guy who played every game at launch.
@@CrackSparrowGaming You clearly are not attempting to remember anything about the old games if you think Judge's portrayal with grunts and the use of the word "boy" has more emotion and etc. People only seem to repeat variations of what Corey Balrog says to sell this new saga. Truth is Judges is great but its really the way he was directed that makes Kratos less dynamic now.
@@CrackSparrowGaming doesn’t matter . All that mattered was the original voice actor made kratos sound & look more of a badass with that evil iconic voice he had towards his enemies when he yelled with emotions based on the stories to be told to it
@@R4Y2k It went from "dumb fun" (not in a negative way, dumb fun is great) to storytelling that represents the newfound experiences of a large part of it's following in a fantastical yet relatable way. It goes hand in hand with videogames having become the premier form of entertainment art in the modern world, just like movies or music were for a long time.
Incredible performance from Judge in both games but specifically Ragnarok. The emotion Kratos exerts as a father nearly brought me to tears multiple times, especially since I found i am having a son early next year.
This game is something else. Judge has probably given us one of the best, most consistent performances in gaming across this duology. I hope they do a similar video with Danielle Bisutti about Freya because she was amazing too
I'm so happy for Christopher. Teal'c from Stargate was already an iconic role, yet here he is, absolutely owning the role of Kratos. Two legendary roles. He can be proud of his career.
I'd love Christopher Judge to say 'Fowl beast! I will send you back to the depths of hades' just to hear his take of it, and I love that line immensely, one of my most memorable and inspirational games of my life, got me through some pretty tough times in my life, big congrats and heartfelt thanks to everyone involved with this breathtaking adventure over the years, much love n respect to all 😎👍
We well see new ways of them perfoming more art for sure, maybe not under the same name and direction but with the experience of having performed this sublime work of art. As we heard before "Loki will go, Atreus remains"
This is what happens when you create something with love and passion. A masterpiece. Most game companies nowadays just do it for the money and you can clearly see it in their games.
with love for money .otherwise they wouldn't made it with so little logic :"like who cares. Kratos now in Norse mythology .they will eat it ,if graphics are fine "
I have no idea why I'm tearing up just listening to Christopher I don't know if it's me relating to him as a father, the depth he speak with, his voice tone, or a combination of everything. Man we're lucky to have him, Kratos would never be the same without him.
Any other geek super happy for Christopher Judge thriving like this after stargate? Stargate was a huge part of my life, and I get so happy watching Momoa and him succeeding!
I love TC Carson and think he did a great job in older titles portraying Kratos’ rage but the new age of GoW Christopher Judge does excellent job sounding similar but a more calm and collected yet still badaaass Kratos. Like a natural progression of a man over the years.
Yea. I loved TC Carson's angry Kratos, his "Zeus!" "Athena" and other callings throughout the series were simply amazing expressions of rage. That's portrayal of an ever angry man on his journey for revenge, for all the gods took from him, starting with Deimos, then the stuff he had to sacrifice for Ares, Zeus'es betrayal and all the other things. I also loved Chris Judge in Stargate SG-1, but that's maybe the problem I had with him taking over Carson in the last game (2018). I thought he'll be forever Teal'C indeed (pun totally intended). But GoW Ragnarök simply cemented him in the role, from the start, to the very finish. Chris IS Kratos in 2022. Also Ragnarök finally acknowledging the ending of GoW3. In GoW 2018 there's nothing even remotely hinting towards how Kratos survived, when we last see him with the Blade of Olympus in his chest, a weapon, that can kill gods and now Kratos is way older somewhere in Norse wildlands and has a son. Nothing, that would even try to tie the two games together. In Ragnarök the dream Kratos has before the final battle (the night before actual Ragnarök), Faye said, that "he even tried to end his life once" refering to that ending scene with Athena's spirit. This game totally makes up for the last one in every way. And I love it. TC Carson was amazing as younger always angry Kratos, Chris Judge is amazing as older, more wiser Kratos, who's a father again.
My only issue is that they didn't at least bring TC in to let him audition. I think he should have at least gotten that opportunity, but Christopher Judge definitely made Kratos his own and did an awesome job.
I think there was an interview when Carson said himself that they don't need him in the new Gow games, so i don't think any audition is necessary. But in any case both actors portrayed their role perfectly imo, Carson's mean and angry intonation for young kratos full of vengeance and regret, whilst Christopher portrayed older kratos in a calm and wiser manner, the kratos that accepted himself and his past to put it behind and start anew..
@@statesminds Even he himself said he wasn't big enough to play Kratos as best as he could. However, he was a bit upset that Sony didn't bother to thank him or acknowledge his contribution. Which is understandable.

I wish they could do the same video for Mimir, Freya, Brok and Sindri!!!! These characters developments are breathe taking, epic, relatable and just absolutely beautiful. I wish we could also hear them all talk about their characters.
Everyone does a great job playing their roles but Christopher and Sully's performance really makes you feel the father-son relationship and the strong bond they share. Since GoW 2018 this Kratos has a strong feel of humanity that makes me love him even more, it's just flawless
He truly made Kratos "A Father" with his voice and action through out the game . We thank you for giving us that experience and also the one who made the game💞
I played the game in German, Tobias Brecklinghaus has also delivered a really great performance, but Christopher Judge is on a whole other level. I truly hope it’s not the last time we’ve heard both of them as Kratos. Much love to everyone involved in this game❤
The scene in the tent and his face after waking up is perfection. Not a word was spoken but you see in his face that he expects it's his last day but will go down swinging.
What Christopher Judge has accomplished for the role of Kratos these past 2 games is simply outstanding. Truly a remarkable actor that deserves all the praise 👏
