God of War Ragnarok - Boss #29 Berserker Soul Hvitserkr the Bold Boss Fight (No Damage Taken) on Give Me God of War Difficulty (Max Difficulty / Hardest Difficulty) / How To Beat Hvitserkr the Bold Boss Fight No Damage No Hit Guide GMGOW / Hvitserkr the Bold Berserker Soul Location. Just a quick video showing this boss from the newly released God of War Ragnarok on GMGOW difficulty, taking no damage. Thanks to PlayStation for providing me with a review copy of this game. Details below.
Probably the most annoying boss in the game so far. The constant enemy spawns of some of most annoying basic adds in the game made it painful to deal with.
I'm completely easing up the self-imposed restrictions of spoilers at this point. I still won't post key moments purely to spoil the story of the game, but going forward as I intentionally slowed the pace on uploads, for boss fights I'm going to be keeping names and pictures in the videos from here on out. The game has been out for both long enough, and I was more than cautious of spoilers at the beginning.
I plan to post all of the bosses on Give Me God of War difficulty with no damage taken. I'll also post any helpful guides to puzzles, locations and whatever else.

Sisters and svpiter the cold are not bad. I bet them on GMGOW on countless attempts over 1-2 hours and I can say they are not that bad with that boss fight at least svpiter or however you spell her name doesn’t attack you when one of the sisters is in the middle of an attack. In that fight it’s turn based which is good because your not relying on rng if they were attacking at different times at the same time as the timing would easily catch anyone out regarding of their skill. However after beating the cold and the sisters flawlessly as it had to be because one tiny hit would’ve killed me as I was level 4 on GMGOW. I initially thought they were bad but when I moved onto hivtsverker the bold it made me realise how easy and forgiving the cold and sisters fight was in comparison. Hivtsverker himself isn’t bad but when he throws in enemies that can spawn endlessly that was when I got pissed because once the sword enemies get into their sword swinging combo it is easy for them to lock onto you when you are trying to dodge either hivtsverker or nightmares or another sword enemy. This fight is unfair and you will need luck on your side on hard difficulties as the type of attacks that enemies pull of can determine how fast or slow you can die like nightmares flying towards you to explode when you have your blades out.

What makes these fights more difficult is how cheap they are and the animations you're stuck in while taking damage. The bosses start running away more and spam attacks as their health gets lower. They also stay away when you buff your strength. Just cheap all around. The worse is being stuck in the animations while the goons attack you. Oh and the auto lock is trash

You can interrupt his enemy spawning ability at the beginning of the fight with your spear by afflicting damage and pressing triangle in the correct moment. That’s what got me through on GMGOW difficulty.

@@seanfowler2500 when he spawns, you immediately attack him with the spear. You either throw spears at him or you attack him with the R1 hold attack to inflict a spear. He will move away from you and start spawning his allies. You then have to press Triangle to detonate the spears in the exact moment he starts his spawning animation. It’s a little tricky to find the right moment but after a few tries it gets more and more easy to get the right timing.

@@sunlessheaven don’t recollect. Regardless felt totally under leveled. Went back with everything more or less fully upgraded. It was still an absolute shitshow, but got it done eventually. Didn’t get the spear timing thingy off though. Really badly designed fight on gmgow.

@@Noonootank issue isn't skill, it's the fact that the enemies he summons can not only track-attack you from anywhere in the arena, but once you finally kill them he just resuming them, the guy in the vid had a build specifically made for beating this guy only. All his attacks are focused on taking out that group of enemies asap, plus he has fully leveled gear. A good boss fight is hard because his attacks are difficult to counter, this is just artificial difficulty

Hardly lazy game design at all; in fact I’d argue it’s the opposite because it requires a completely diff approach and strats to beat him than nearly ever other berserker fights. I see nothing wrong with the fight design here, and for someone to say they should be fired over it is just a clear sign of a salty sore loser.

Even being level 5 this boss is a pain, him running away spawning enemies and some bs attacks mostly ranged ones, I was so close to killing him but being stuck in an animation unfortunately while he lands on be killing me instantly. Honestly this boss wouldn't be so shitty if it weren't for the adds and them being so high leveled if they were weaker I wouldn't mind it.

This one was pretty difficult, I'm lvl5 rn, I usually go for all the parries and etc but with this guy that was kinda impossible, so changed my tactic, and it worked. Do not wait, keep pushing forward, dont let him spawn those bastards, attack non stop, cut distance. I'd recommend using fury rage for this one since our goal is a non stop attack.

If they actually gave the bosses attack patterns like older, better designed video games have instead of making the bosses choose random attacks (and sometimes starting new attacks before their current one is finished), it would be more fun. But apparently they're trying to turn God of War into Dark Souls.

Managed to beat him on the third try. The trick is to keep eliminating his minions quickly. As soon as the fight starts, use your runic attacks to deal heavy damage to him before he calls his minions. From there on just stay very close to him and keep slashing away with the blades. Staying close to him ensures that the minions who attack you are in your blades range taking damage. This is the best way to ensure that the minions are being dealt with while still keeping your focus on the berserker. Note: Keeping too much distance from him only increase the number of minions you’ve to deal with individually. Try to take most of them out at once.

I was at this fight for hours last night on the hardest difficulty. I got really close a few times, but I either get hit by the lesser enemies while focusing on him, or I get hit by him while trying to take out the lesser enemies. Atreus is useless. There are times where he needs to just keep ONE enemy busy and he can't even do that. You can interrupt his summoning ability, I had a lot of success keeping him from summoning with the first half of his health. But eventually he'll spawn them and then I struggle to juggle fighting them and him. Honestly, if it weren't for them, he himself is pretty easy. I'm probably going to have to just use a resurrection stone, I'm cheap and don't like to.

Anyone still stuck on this fight take my advice and make sure you have the heimdall time slow down runic and the spear. Also parry his punches this will give you uninterrupted chances to cause massive damage. The spear artillery strike knocks him out of the air and kills all of his minions especially the daymares!!! Took me a few tries but my strategy worked. Use time slowdown to rush the daymares grab them then throw them at boss for explosive damage. The spear is great for stunning him. Save your rage for him at half life then Active it to finish him off. Also every time he misses the ground pound you have to punish him. Rinse and repeat and you will win. Use heavy runics that do large crowd damage. Hope this helps ✌🏾

Great job! Nice to watch! I am on the same difficulty but my game is much less smooth and can't keep him under pressure without seriously hit. I find this fight unenjoyably difficult. And this is not the only one. I can't imagine playtest persons said it was OK. I mean apart from all the things in the other comments I noticed that I could not kill those plain swordsmen. I hardly made a dent with my overpowered stats and weapons while they easily one-two hit me ( so much for the Poison protector). I experienced a reverse i-frame while using Breath of Thamur and nightmares bombed me. Not to mention that Kratos the God of War is the slowest fighter in the Nine Realms. Ooh, my... Eventually (after hours of frustrating trials) I managed to get through. But man, four times I had Hvitserkr on the thinnest amount of life when he killed me! I mean what is the entertainment factor in it if I feel I'd like to bang my head in the wall and break my controller?! I will do the platinum because I am competitive but I think these multiple-boss combats are not designed the best way and I stopped enjoying the game. To be clear I love difficulty and am aware that God of War is about learning the patterns in most cases but these fights make me feel that I am just wasting my time I am not looking forward to beat Svipdagr and the sisters. They are next.

Went back to this guy after getting the steinbjorn armour set and changing my build. Man...seriously I almost rage quit on this one. Whenever I had him literally on like 5% of health, I would then die on his random aerial drop fucking stomp or one of the spawned enemies. One death I had was due to a fucking Nightmare cause I was too busy focusing on him and I was like “naaaah bruh, what IS this fight?” beating him though was satisfying for like 5 secs then realising the trio in Alfeim...need to prepare for them

Update yo one advantage in the fight is if you cannnot time that outburst that he does use the stone wall shield it absorbs all of that damage so you can get a hit in and at the start of the fight when you hit him hit him with the huldra charge with the spare and then use invoke the storm runic summon with freya and then use vindsvalrs windstorm that gets the minions out the way faster and does damage to him also

What I do is cycle all my runic attacks when there close to dying lol and then afterwards just use the spear or throw the axe to take them out if they still have a tiny bit of health left

This is probably the hardest berserker for me so far and it’s my last berserker before I fight the king and it’s fucking bullshit that he randomly spawns enemies but I can’t figure out how to use that shield you’re using to parry. I’m only able to use the stonewall. Svipdagr and the sisters was doable but still annoying because you had to watch out for their flying bombs while the main guy jumps at you with lethal blow.

The mini side bosses like these guys and the lava guys feel like a souls game. 1 slight mistake and you die. Only other video I've seen of someone beating this guy was beyond over leveled and completely maxed out everything and just spamed runic attacks on every weapon and rage. At my level ( I think 5 or 6) this guy is virtually impossible. Have to go do every side mission to get more abilities and stats then complete the game before even trying this guy. Virtually impossible.

Yeah... You can tell the combat designers (yes, I'm looking at you, Roberto Clemente) designed these Berserkers to intentionally make you get frustrated and angry. They definitely tried to replicate Souls-level difficulty with their combat, and God of War has NEVER been about that. Really made me reconsider buying Ragnarok a couple of times, and video games should not make you feel that way.

This boss fight was extremely annoying I wanted to fight them by myself with no internet help at first and I’ll say people did things completely differently. First I used the spear a LOT not I started off with the (3x R1 + R2 combo then used Skaoi’s Edge. Then I lead the into BoC sprinting R1 into Rampage of the Furies. This sometimes stopped him from spawning minions after I waited till he attacked and whatever but once he used that blast thing I used relic attacks other wise I used the spear and kept doing range attacks till he came up close. MAIN DIFFERENCE IS that I kept the minions alive but killed the nightmares all you have to do is throw one spear at the nightmares then detonate then they died I let Atreus try to handle the minions but he was a constant disappointment, but I made it through it I wish I would recorded it my I was so happy I just ran out my room and started chugging Tahitian treat

This isnt GMGOW. This is GMNM. The red ring poison attack in GMGOW has a 1st projectile then followed by 4 projectiles. His jumping attacks are delayed in GMGOW if you dodge immediately he will catch you and you will die.

I despise him so much. He's not even hard, he just constantly spawns his 4 little butt buddies and jump you. The 2 with the swords can take one step and be across the god damn arena and stun you while dealing a significant amount of damage, while he blends In with their attacks.

Dodge rolling out of the ‘green ground pound’ attack is so janky and awful it made me put the game down for months and I forgot about why I stopped playing until I came back to it and am now just googling how to dodge that one attack except the answer is apparently just “it’s janky - time it perfectly or else”. This game is a 6/10 cosplaying as a 9/10 don’t @ me

at first it was a pain in the ass but actually it's a decent fight when you got the correct timing at the beginning. you can use heavy runic attack called "artillery of the ancients" about 2-3 seconds before he summons his friends for the first time (this is just practicing!!). it stuns him and prevents him from casting. this worked for me like a charm every time. after that you can easily down like 40-50% of his health until he summons succesfully. then simply take out the two nightmares with another heavy runic attack of your choice and rage kill one of the heavier dudes. after that the fight is just cake.
