The worst part of Odin killing Thor is that Odin is such a narcisist he blames the person he's killing for his own death. There's no greater insult than murdering someone while apologizing for it.
They depicted Odin perfectly. Not as a muscular, hulking, boisterous King of the Vikings....but as a powerful, conniving, manipulative old sorcerer with a silver tongue and an obsession with knowledge.
@@ladyofthesith1943 Wasn’t he both? Like I’m not saying he had to be big like Kratos but a little muscle to showcase his more Viking aspects he is inspired by. But Kratos did say a god’s strength isn’t their muscles as Baldur was strong and he was lean but slim.
He looks like an insurance salesman to me. The coniving charm, the honest verbal jittery, the fluid masterful carrot and stick , the mix of genuity and deception... more than enough to get prospective clients to bend over.
Although I'm not sure if it should be considered a detail, when Odin guts Thor with his spear, his son does not look at him, either because he is fed up with him lying, or perhaps because he is accepting his fate. But when Thrud screams, Thor turns to look at his daughter, and gradually disintegrates.
I like how even though Odin is more of a sorcerer,he's still strong asf physically. He killed Thor with one spear stab , effortlessly swung mjilnor , took on Kratos ,Atraeus and Freya's onslaught stood back up only to be taken down by magic . Before anyone comes with they rebuttals in every iteration of the Norse Mythology it takes the end of the world to happen to kill Odin ,he's is not ruler of the realms for no reason .
Thor was badly injured and caught off guard so he didn’t necessarily “easily” kill Thor, had he fought a fresh Thor he still would have won although not with lack of difficulty you are describing, secondly he was clearly beaten by Kratos, Atreus and Freya to where they could have killed him in any way they wanted l, Atreus simply chose to take Odin’s soul yet you state this as if he actually had a chance and was ready to continue fighting when this clearly isn’t the case. Odin is no pushover and is obviously very powerful but this is a serious Odin wank. You then denounce the possibility for any rebuttal as if you cannot possibly be wrong
@@noahsibahi-jackson8757 None of that matters at all , because as Ive said ,it takes the end of the world to finish Odin period . That's not my opinion ,that is a fact ,we can talk about what everyone else did and can possibly do against Odin, but the fact remains,u will find no end to Odin without Ragnarok .
I love how Odin's arrogance desappeared in a matter of seconds after Freya took his ass down with that spell. When he's about to die he then quickly turns into a poor old granpa. He's endeed a true snake.
Bosses never bully TheGamerEyes. TheGamerEyes bullies them!!! I think Ezio Auditore's quote from AC:II fits here. "No more tricks. No more ancient artifacts. No more weapons. Let us see what you are made of old man".
Wouldnt you? He helped kratos and atreus despite the risks and the rudeness in 2018, went behind their backs with atreus in ragnarok, gave them shelter, only for atreus to injure him and for odin to kill his only living family member.
This boss fight was cool and all but the whole time fighting I was really expecting Surtr to come in and pick us up and then we fight Odin in his hand while Surtr is trying to crush us with his fingers or something along those lines, kind of like a homage to the final Baldur fight from GoW 2018.
I mean if he hadnt killed Thor he would've definitely been overpowered even if he got a hold of mjolnir Thor is strong AF without it too..he knew it was a tactical disadvantage no matter how messed up it was..sending thrud away was another sign of his intelligence..I still don't think this holds a candle to the Zeus fight but it's pretty damn good.
I like how they inverted the giant’s death prophecy for Kratos by having Odin take his place, dying in Atreus’ arms as he casts a spell calmly rather than crying out in grief.
It all makes sense now. In the first game, we depicted Thor being the bad guy for what he’s done. But all that time, Thor was just a puppet. It seems, Odin pulled the strings. I had hope to spare Thor because of being an abused son, but odin chose that. But at least Thor’s family is proud of him. Even though he paid the ultimate price, he finally had the courage to stand up to his father.
I think odins appereance is meant not to be intimidating like thor and is meant to appear harmless and weak so people are not scared of him and trick them.
yea ur right cuz if you look at his jacket it’s way bigger than him and acts more like a cape shows that odin in a way is much bigger and stronger than he appears if that makes sense
Seeing Sindri go from a kind hearted cinnamon roll into pretty much a Dwarf version of God of War 3 Kratos is heartbreaking and interesting at the same time.
I think that Odin needed to be more difficult... Not tougher, but since he's a wily wizardly type, he should have been an offensive juggernaut, with a nonstop deluge of magic for the player to have to avoid while trying to get an attack in here and there.
YES! After so many optional bosses having godlike strength and patterns, I was very disappointed with Odin. Odin quite literally should have been the toughest boss in the game, with many set pieces and just like you said nonstop magic attacks.
@@sparkist95 Kratos killed the Gods for a reason even tho the mortals died as a result. Thor killed the Giants only because Odin saw them win in Ragnarok, somenthing that didnt even happen in the first place. Killing the Giants is what gets him killed in the first place. Just how imprisoning Fenrir makes Fenrir eat him in the mythos, its basically self fulfilling prophecy. So no, its not the same. Thor and Odin kill without cause.
I gotta be honest: the first time I saw this scene at 4:14 I thought Freya was about to be revealed as the real big bad. Like she'd been successfully gaslighting all the realms into believing Odin was the problem, but she was the real evil. I dunno if I'm happy I was wrong or not.
Ngl, I really thought they'd throw in a little scene of Kratos losing his cool while Rage of Sparda's playing. Still tho, truly a step-up from the previous game, although why they thought scrapping most of the bare-handed combos and moves ks beyond me
I thought the Odin fight was really not that difficult, but a very well made fight anyway. Lots of spells, area of effect attacks, and only melees when you're in range. Multiphase too, with defensive spells, unstoppable attacks and evasive maneuvers. But running out of tricks at the end. Mimir getting a zinger in too was nice.
@universaladdict it doesn’t matter it’s in the game n do u remember when baldur mention Atreus and kratos got mad and took a tree and pushed balder through his house n then u were able to fight n control kratos that’s definitely a cutscene
i still believe kratos was holding back at the end the past 2 games was him teaching others to control what anger they had and had to me an example of what that change looks like
People don't get Freyr's sacrifice and I've seen so many people comment about it. If he did not stop Surtr's sword there, everything is going to more or less explode. He's destroying the entire plant the are on, literally cutting it in half.
@@RamizMFA no zues will lose odin knows time freeze spells and shit odin can easily banish him anyways it would be a tie if odin were not to use his time freeze lol
I love how the Norse God of War got bopped by the Greek God of War, The Vanir Goddess of Springtime and love, and the combo being of the God of Trickery and Mischief and champion of the Giants. In my eyes this should have been the equivalent of the fight back meme.😂
At one point I thought that reversing the order of deaths from the actual myth would be the perfect subversion. Boi do I need to improve my media literacy
I would have loved a thor and kratos team up that would have been epic. god of thunder and kratos destroying odin would be epic i wish they would somehow make thore comeback if they plan a god of war 6
Yaa true everyone thinks zeus is stronger but odin is stronger than zeus and was very dangerous for whole 9 realms only zeus was more durable than odin but odins iq and battle iq are next level
When he gets mad, idk if it just me but he just looks and sound like just an angry regular old man lol. Not like an angry god, which I find really interesting.
Loved Odins character, they nailed it. Just wished they showed how diabolical he really was and how powerful he was. All the crazy stories they told about him and they didn't show us anything close to that. Oh well 🤷🏻. One of the best games ever
