One thing the game didn't tell me (or maybe I'm too blind) is the quick turn. In 2018 you just had to press down, now you have to press down while holding your shield. So L1 and down
On the highest difficulty after dying tons on a single encounter I’ve noticed a lot of the areas you can knock/ throw enemies off the map instantly killing them. At the beginning of the fight running up shield bashing one off a ledge or charge r2 a ranged enemy hooking them with your axe and tossing them off the map does a lot to make certain encounters more manageable. I struggle a lot with multi enemy fights.
The base starting equipment (armor, handles, rond, etc) has massive overall stats at higher end upgrades. They don't give any set bonuses, but you'll have a ridiculously high amount of every stat after level 5 or 6. At first they only give strength and defense, but at a certain point they give a huge amount of every stat. It's worth sacrificing the small amount of a specialized stat to get a substantial increase of everything.
I feel like it was pretty clear that he was saying you get stats from them and that's it. The stats are higher though but there's nothing extra. I understood exactly what was meant and am very appreciative of the tip.
I don't know how many know this but the training arena in nifiheim you can really quickly do you weapon move labors there just got all the ones I have unlocked done (2nd playthrough just now going to alfheim) don't know if they'll patch it out but figured Id let people know ;) enjoy
The more I play the more I discover new mechanics that change my play style. What a great game. I'm still working awe. Also ty for not spoiling anything. A cool mechanic I found is knocking enemies into walls will trigger the r3 finisher so much faster as well as attacking from behind .
Yes, the movement is limited without the shield skill tree !!! Why would they remove that!? It seems like there are some new moves but they really don't add much combo in the game.
Loving the game so far… but damn I’m going to NEED a ng+ update to do further playthroughs… idk why they spaced all the heavy runic attacks & your entire kit out so MUCH. It’s almost ridiculous… I’m 20 hours into the game and still don’t have ANY of them…
One huge tip is to add the swipe shortcuts in settings. Along with that turn on high contrast display with the “collector” preset and set it to one of the shortcuts. This way you can turn the display on/off on the fly. Really helpful way to get hidden items or solve puzzles
BRUH YES- i just changed everything collectible to red and the background to grey or white - its amaze balls - i cant believe they actually put something like this in accessibility settings - its basically just cheating LOL. Im still the type that prefers to follow the interactive map tbh - but its useful as fuck to just swipe down and be able to see EVERYTHING - its ACCESSIBLE to say the least lol
Played the first GOW , thought it was a great game . Recently bought the ps5 ragnarok bundle just because it was in stock but never really had the intention of getting GOW 2 but started playing it over the weekend and I’m f n hooked , so far such a great game .
Maxed out the dragon set armor and totally worth getting it because your strength is insane with the chaos blades so even though it takes awhile to get it. It’s totally worth it
I hate that developers never include new game plus on launch but always wait 2 months before adding it in they should take notes from ratchet and clank franchise always new game plus included lol
Yo very well done with no spoilers. I like the extra effort put forth for making sure of that, while still having mad good tips especially for people just starting. Thanks.
Not a fan of the armors feel like devs put so much effort in everything except for armors it seems lazy in this game think its really shit u cant get the fur coat from the beging as armor or transmog
@@spiritassassin3436 Yes i don't see any difference at all except the story content. I also thought they would add more combos in this new game. But no, they get rid of old bare-hand combat combos !!! And there are no new combos except they use previous game special skills and add them to normal combo. This is ridiculous and unacceptable !
@@andrewp6548 i meam they added new weapons and techniques. I don’t have an issue with using previous game mechanics since they were already perfect, i prefer it that way. Guess everyone’s opinion is different tho.
@@spiritassassin3436 FEW MONTHS??? they had enough confidence to get embargo out a week early and copies out a month early, but we gotta wait until 2023 FOR NG+ !? bruh i’ll 100% this game like this weekend… that sucks
None of the things on this list are hidden. Wanna know the really hidden stuff? How about finding a relic that allows you to awaken a stone dragon that you must kill if you want to be able to craft every piece of dragon armor? Or the four stone trolls that you have to kill if you want to have enough materials to craft the Steinbjorn armor set? Those are the things that the game doesn't tell you. Not this low effort shit.
Is there an option to change the way the compass works? Because now it's like it's setting imaginary waypoints and when you reach them it jumps tonthe next one. For example in Svartalfheim by that big whale thing when you have to go to the head, as I was playing, the questmarker in the compass just jumped around and I had that several times.
@@LeftSinkHandle but I think it only works for the main quest not for the side quest right? Or does it work for the Quest you have selected at the time?
@@ryanwalton7969 No i mean in alfheim for example there is a hole where you can't go in and the questmarker in the compass tries to lead you around it. Sometimes it does that when it's not necessary and then it annoys me.
Hey brother, regarding the transmog, if I'm using the dragon armor for the effects, but want the aesthetic to be berserker set, do I need to max it both to level 9? Or just the dragon armor to lvl 9?
To do the transmog on the gear it only requires that that particular gear is lvl 9 however if you want the upgraded appearance of that gear it also needs to be upgraded to the lvl of that appearance. So to simplify chest a is what I have equiped but I like the lvl 2 design of chest b. So chest a has to be lvl 9 and chest b upgraded to the lvl 2 design.
so Im playing on give me story and didnt upgrade any of my armor before the final level. finding it very difficult to get through. thought I wouldnt have to worry about it since its the easiest difficulty but man Ive died soo many times. Any tips?
Relics don't exactly replace the Talisman from GOW 2018, they don't allow you to slot in enchantments... This is where the Amulet, and Skill upgrades (along w/ weapon pommels) allow for a much more diverse number of competinet builds...)
Level 9? I thought it was something they hadn’t been able to put in game yet, not very transparent and made me waste time going through menus after each update to see if they had added it since the patch notes seem to be coming well after the patches are released. Womp womp.
i’ve got this game on Wednesday completed it Thursday night only just found out 6-7 hours ago lol its probably come up before telling me about being able to change the appearance because I remember a block of yellow text coming up I just didn’t read it I wanted to get rid of it as quickly as possible pmsl I was shocked when I saw the big fat words change appearance on my armor lol
When you have a life and still enjoy a good challenge, the stone is there to make sure you only spend 1 hour and not 3 against a particularly difficult boss
Every weak point you guys mention is directly mentioned in the game, just because Mimir and Atreus don't shout them out at you doesn't mean it's hidden. The game gives you the ability to research your enemies, read the codex some times it helps a lot.
I like the game, but no shield abilities? Those shield abilities were key for GMGoW Difficulty in the previous game. Going to have to find a new approach to combat with this one on higher difficulties.
Have you tried to use some of them? Maybe they are unlocked from the beginning. For example the attack when you Run and press R2, i think it's also not mentioned in the ability tree
@@mattithun4813 as I play more, I'm understanding how each shield has its own perks (rage/health burst, etc) but I really liked the shield slam post parry with R2 that knocks enemies in the air to give you breathing room and crowd control. Maybe as I progress they will introduce more mechanics regarding the shield.
@@mattithun4813 exactly! It made GMGoW Difficulty bearable. With this one, I know they've made improvements to the combat mechanics from the previous game, but that super-slow mo parry with the shield giving you that two to three second window to decide how you're going to dish out punishment against the assholes that have been kicking your ass that whole segment was clutch lol
The game also doesn't tell you that you WILL suffer serious damage in the middle of a runic attack if the bad guy attacks you too, and there's nothing you can do about it. The bad guy's attack WILL damage you while you're stuck in the animation, while you do ZERO damage to them in return. The game also ignores your inputs at random the harder you set the difficulty. One of the game's coders admitted this in an article on Reddit. They experimented with random control "dead stick" code in Mordor:Shadow of War, just to see if the test gamers would get pissed off and quit but they didn't. So the writers of that game kept the code in the final product, and it's been quietly adopted by other software companies to make their games artificially harder simply by making the main character a retard at higher difficulties.
I wondered why occasionally Kratos just wouldn't do the action that I pushed the button for, which lead me to say things out loud while being completely alone like "what the fuck was that?!"
I wish they had the reaver armour set in the game I have seen any videos showcasing that armour , some armour Kratos just looks a bit silly in because he’s so big and him just being shirtless the entire game just feels wrong kinda
@@dariel299 them gravestone bosses are torture even on easiest difficulty. I was underleveled when I fought the sisters and I still got destroyed. Atleast I beat them now
So I missed a nonir chest in the first place of the dwarves and im unable to go back cause I used the trains to get there (to the nines) is there a way to go back to that or am I just missing out
@@aahilshaikh1297 I think the Jarsmida pit mines before going in the mines to get tyr and right before a little water puzzle. It's a chest where you have to use blades of chaos
@@caleblinck1 remember the ferry you took , after completing the story you can take the ferry from Aurvangar wetlands back to applecore which then leads to jarsmida pit
@@lambo2655 lmao that's exactly what he did! That's on you dude. That's your fuck up. Maybe don't fuck around with the settings if you're not sure what your doing. It reminds me of my dad who's always going "there's something wrong with my phone can you fix it?" And then I just look at his phone and I go "I don't know what insane combination of button presses you did to fuck up your phone this bad, but there's nothing I can do about it. I wouldn't even know where to begin."
Yea because they were too busy actually completing the shit that actually matters. Photo mode can be added in an update. They made a game this good and people still complain so I think they made the right choice. The actual game comes before a photo mode
@@gothxm Don't care about photo mode, but bare handed skill tree was actually really fun in the original. Throwing your axe to freeze and continuing the combo with barehands made sense. I especially miss the dash attack (agile strike)
You’ll probably be confused with some parts of the story, there is a recap in the main menu, but I would personally finish the first games story first then play ragnarok, if you’ve played a bit of the first game, gameplay wise you’ll be pretty good hear, it’s largely the same as the first game with improvements added on to it, overall I’d recommend you finish the first game then play ragnarok.
That is one of the most annoying things I've encountered so far. The game doesn't even let you play and think for a minute before they start telling you what to do. I wish I could turn it off in the settings or something, or give me a button to press if I want a hint.
@@HavokHvK I played horizon at releaee and genuinely don't remember being annoyed at all by a hint mechanic. Also it would be fine if they didn't already delay this game multiple times before release. What's the point of adding a setting afterwards when multiple people have already finished the game by then?
