Some of the stuff mentioned by you guys. Ares put him into a bloodlust when Kratos started serving him and caused him to kill his wife and child. The ashes of them were bound to his body. He kills the entire Greek pantheon and leaves to the Norse lands

Actually this is the 7th GOW game there's GOW 1-3 then GOW ascension, GOW Chains Of Olympus (psp), GOW ghost of sparta (psp) then this one

Things confirmed so far: - The game is still linear but is more open than past entries, with possible alternate routes and/or hidden areas to find. - The kid so far has been said to be his son even by the developers themselves... so far of course. - The boy will be with you for the vast majority of the game and will learn as the story moves forward (you can see it in the gameplay demo to the right side where he gains experience from what you teach him). - This game will focus on Kratos trying to teach his son to become a better god than he was, (which has many people believing that the boy will become the next God of War after Kratos dies) and it's also about Kratos trying to rid himself of his rage from past games. - The gameplay demo holds many hidden Easter eggs, for example at the end when the dragon is doing its flyby if you look at what looks like a river you'll notice that it is moving and that it's not water but the scales of Jörmungandr the world serpent that wraps around the whole world. - Kratos is now voiced by Christopher Judge who you might know if you've seen Stargate SG-1... Indeed.

There have been 7 games. In Chronological order: God of War: Acention, God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, God of War II, God of War III. This will be the eighth game in the series and its still universe it's just that this takes place long after God of War III

Love that Christopher Judge (Teal'c from Stargate SG1) is the voice now. Absolutely perfect for it.

Hard to imagine this game came out 3 years ago and this e3 demo was 5 years ago. This is still such an awesome demo too. Granted, a lot of the insane combat animation were simplified but it is also interesting to figure out how the game changed from this demo. They showcased ivaldi's hammer very early and the troll fight happened way earlier than the final game. A lot of the dialogue did stay the same though. The biggest change has to be Atreus just learning through general game upgrading rather than actually doing things in the overworld and getting experience that way.

This game is set years after God of War 3 were Kratos is now dealing with Norse Mythology instead of Greek.

There have been 4 God of War games. Ascension was the non numbered one. This new game is taking place after the events of 3, in which he destroyed the entire Greek pantheon of gods & Titans. This is taking place on Earth, or Midgard, centering around Norse mythology instead of Greek, and is during the time the Norse people (I'm talking about irl) thought was when the gods walked the Earth

This God of War takes places years and years after God of War 3. It's the same Spartan Kratos just in a Norse setting where he probably moved to attempt to start a new life. That's why he has a son now. Kratos still has a past but the game is designed to be the beginning of a new story so you don't need to play the previous games. That's why it's called God of War and not God of War 4. Kratos' son isn't aware of his past but I imagine that won't last so you will probably learn all the stuff you need to about Kratos as the game goes on but once again it probably doesn't matter because this is a new story being told. The developers said that this game is about Kratos teaching his son how to be a god and the son teaching Kratos how to be human again.

Definitely not Hercules. He killed Hercules (voiced by Kevin Sorbo) in GoW3. Along with every other remaining Greek hero, God and demigod. And as a result, basically caused plagues and natural disasters that devastated greece if not the world. For revenge. Kratos was a monster.

So there are 3 main God Of Wars, and three prequels to the first game. This is a sequel to the third game. BTW the 3 main God of War games are all on the Playstaition 4 store bundled together so you guys could maybe catch up on what happens.

You guys should play God of War 3, you will enjoy the brutality and it is on PS4. God of War 1 was about Kratos getting revenge on Ares for tricking him into killing his family, then he kills a lot of other people (other GREEK gods) and finally in 3 he kills his father Zeus.

There are 6 God of War games, and this is gonna be like 20 years after God of War 3. Set in the world of norse mythology, they are done with greek. Nothing left.

It's not open world but it is open enough. It's like Tomb Raider how there is room to explore and stuff but there really is only 1 way to go to progress the story at the end of the day.
