My brothers and sisters all Prodigal Son is doing is what we fail to do.He is preaching the gospel in a way young people would understand....People think that if you are a christian you shouldn't wear fancy clothes, you shouldn't drive a fancy car or even have a fancy house but the fail to remember that God continues to bless all those who live and work for him.
Sometimes people need to learn about being a Christian instead of being religious all the time. He talks so much about praising God, about being so dedicated to Christ and yet all you can think about is the fact that he says he likes to dress nicely LOL. This is his way of saying you can come as you are, he dressed this way in the world and now that he's in Christ, he doesn't have to change himself to look like the 'conservative christian'.
theres a time for everything, u think Prody neva know seh we fi stand out? us as christians love accept poverty and bruk down crebbe looks, we have no interest in how we present ourselves as children of the most high. unnuh calm down and enjoy the song and the life God give unnuh. the message is very clear and it has its purpose
Some will like it. Some will not. Prodigal must know what he's doing. Oonuh nuh badda question what's seen in the physical picture this if his target audience is supposed to be of the ghetto or something similar - you think "Amazing Grace" will grab their interest? God uses diff. means, same Word and Truth but diff. means to reach the world. Again, not for us to judge. If you don't like it, then you just don't. If you do, you do. Simple.
@90upt.. you missing the point...I love the holier than thou types. Im a preacher kid, it doesnt happen overnight, you start with accepting Christ you move as the Lord leads. The holy spirit is for conviction and with lead the young man to a more holy lifestyle when it is that season. Straighten up, you supposed to say God bless and keep it moving. @kimkayable I don't bash anyone for spreading the Gospel in present-day terms, however, delivery is important..you should make sure that it is setting yourself apart from the rest of artists out there not just to fit in with everyone else.
@ioribanga....God knows what's his intention - Thank God he looks on the heart and searches it and do know what his intentions are...we need to bear each other up in prayer - how do you know he has strayed from his original purpose? Can you see his desire and intentions? We need to pray!

how do u know that this hasnt saved anyone? Are you God's secretary and He tells you who acccept him from which type of music. Stop judging you don't know so don't say it wont bring anyone to Christ. You would be shocked to hear that it actually let a sinner rethink his ways and come to Christ. He is showing that just because you are a Christian doesnt mean you should be poor and untidy, you can be rich in Christ, infact many people are financially wealthy and they are Christians.
@90upt The exclamation points and capslock are a little intense. Calm down. I maintain that they do acknowledge Christ in the song, it's not like they don't worship Him. I see what your saying that the song is mostly focused on their possessions (I myself believe that worshiping God is less about "swagga" and more about understanding and humility), but at the same time, some of the lyrics in the song send a good message...
@kwyn25 I know prodigal's intentions may be pure.... but there is a way that seems right unto a man...but the ends thereof is death.... the song is full of vybe and energy, an it NICE...but these are the kinds of things satan uses to deceive the masses. Narrow is the gate to life, many will seek to enter in and shall not be able. I sincerely encourage you, in all humility, to delve into the word...seek Him with your WHOLE heart and see how vain the world is around us...I really beg that you do.
@kwyn25 In the same way that it would be wrong to "promote the gospel" (as if it were some new hip trend), by smoking weed, or having half dressed girls in a music video, so it is here. Carnal (fleshly/material) means of spreading the gospel is not the way God wants us to represent Him. God is holy and holiness means separation from the world. Adding themes like bling and "swag" to the gospel message is nothing short of a mockery to the Most High. We ought to JUDGE RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT (Jn 7:24)
i guess what he's trying to portray in this song is that a Christian doesn't have to dress boring as in long skirt to your ankle or long shirt all the time but what I am concerned about is young people trying to fit into an ungodly society so much that you lose the fundamentals of being a true Christian which being humble and modest Proverbs 16:19 (Whole Chapter) Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. They mention preaching the gospel, and that they would die before they deny Jesus Christ; sounds like they're worshiping God to me and saying they can have nice things and not have them be idols...that's what I got

I think alot of people have the wrong idea of this song. I think it's more about worshipping God where you are. Kinda like because you're swaggged out you still put God first. Well that's my interpretation. And using the swag stuff like bb and stuff to reach people. That's what I do with my youth group anyways. Reach them where they are

Coming from a young Christian I am glad to see The Prodigals Son bragging and giving praise to God about what he has done for him, and how Christians are blessed and have the best things too; because everyday I am faced with Hollywood and people around me glorifying money, and riches, from the sinful and immoral lifestyles and its about time people see that you don't have to be poor, dress bad and broke down to be a Christian. I believe Christians are suppose to represent GOD for who he is!
And in the first verse of the song(if you listen to it)he talks about using blackberry,facebook and the internet as a whole to preach the word not help people get to hell like what some of us do nowadays.
i like this!!!!! Christ came that we might be free!!!! and not stuck up/religious and cold heart, and to top it all off God wants you to look Good, he wants you to have the best of everything, so thumbs up to this song
John the baptist wore Camel hair and sheep skin and if he came church today Christians would throw him out but yet he was the cousin of Jesus plus Jesus said there has been no greater prophet than John did he wear a shirt and tie NO! The father is seeking those who worship in spirit and in truth not in cufflinks and boots! Love this tune i get exactly what my brothers are saying in this song u can still be a believer and have swagger thats the whole point if u people who disagree want to have white socks and robes thats ur problem God bless u but dont infringe ur mormon lifestyle on true believers who have true freedom in Christ!
