The fact that you had to reiterate the fact that neither God nor Jesus were involved in the making of these films says a lot about our society

The court cases this movie was """based""" on could be simplified down to a fundamental level as; Christians were doing something Christianity related and they got in trouble for it. Which is, in fact, what the movie is about, for the most part. A Christian (Sabrina the Middle Age Witch) does something Christian related (talks about Jebus in school) and gets in trouble for it. But that is reaching so hard my arm hurts just thinking about it. By this logic, you can say Die Hard is based on 9/11, since they're both, fundamentally, about Terrorists doing something involving a skyscraper.

I forget what the story is called, but what happens is a guy is in the ocean, and he prays to be saved. 3 boats come to rescue him one at a time, and each time he said "no, God's going to save me" but then he drowns. When he goes to heaven, he asks God why He didn't save him, and God says, "I SENT YOU 3 BOATS!!" So I hate when people reject medicine because prayer is all they need, or only think that by praying God miraculously cures you. All the doctors and the medicine are answers to the prayers. Idk where I was going with this, but God is good and doesn't want you to watch these sucky propaganda commercials

lmao some public school teachers talk about religion literally all the time. it's only when teachers are forcing kids to participate in some religious activity that they might get fired, but most likely just reprimanded. when talking about history, religion HAS to be discussed. it's SUCH a large part of our history.

Rewatching this reminded me of an incident in my childhood. I have juvenile psoriatic arthritis. When I was still trying to find the right way to treat it, my mother’s side of the family recommended a daily routine of prayer, considering they’re more religious. I followed it for a few months. Absolutely no change whatsoever. You know what finally made things easier? Medicine.

To be on the left side of the political spectrum, especially the spectrum in the United States, absolutely does not preclude being a faithful churchgoer. And just because the character chose to believe in God after all, that doesn’t mean she must just easily abandon all her other political and social principles and convert into a full-blown Conservative. One very fortunate, inexplicable event does not make someone drop all their deeply-held, genuine convictions. It shouldn’t even make them suddenly believe in God, for that matter. “I don’t know the explanation, therefore, God did it” is the same as “I don’t know how that footage could’ve been faked, therefore, it’s proof of ghosts.” HUGE LEAP IN LOGIC. Not even a leap in faith. Just a whole lot of assumption. So that’s some more evidence of this movie not just hating “left-wingers” but also acting like they’re all atheists one “miracle” away from accepting the “Truth”; yet another shitty lie to add to their propaganda.

As a Christian, I hate this. All the Christains never doubt God or struggle with faith, because that would mean that they would have to develop their characters. Also, they never portray Athiests correctly either. Christians are jerks too and Athiests aren't always terrible people. The worst part though is that this industry never takes any risks whatsoever. They never address actual issues. I especially hate this "persecution" because there's actual persecution happening around the world. The kind where lives are at stake. Anyway, there are plenty of Christians that hate this film too. Also, I think your reviews are perfectly fine; they did not attack my beliefs one bit. My dad is a VERY devoutly Catholic teacher who works in the public school system in Canada. He literally forbids his class from attending the raising of the rainbow flag and made one of his students switch the book he was using for his book report because it was about a trans person. He’s never gotten in trouble for any of it.

I think Book of Eli is the best religious movie I’ve seen because it shows both the good and bad effects that bible can have on people. It doesn’t show the bible as a key happiness and being all divine. It’s portrayed as a symbol of power, leadership, and inspiration but it’s also a matter of how someone can use it. They can use it to unite people like what Eli does or it can be used to control people like what Gary Oldman’s character does. It shows that not all people who believe in god are good and having a bible and knowledge of christianity doesn’t make you a good person. It really just shows how religion can be used in positive and negative ways. I cannot emphasize enough on how well it depicts religion. It’s not like these garbage movies where it’s like “here’s a christian. This person is good. Everyone else is bad.” In Book in Eli it’s like “here’s two people who believe and preach the same thing but are completely morally different.”

My friend invited me to his church to see this movie, and I came because of the free pizza. Upon watching it, I got the impression that it was an attack upon the American Civil Liberties Union, an organization which stands for the exact opposite values in real life as it did in the movie.

As someone who has dealt with family members dying from cancer and ALS I'm just noticing that these movies have an OBSESSION with cancer! And usually it's not even portrayed accurately! It's like they don't even know how patients behave, or worse it's as if they don't even KNOW people with cancer, which is totally insane... Why would you tackle a subject matter that you don't even research first is beyond me. 😮
