God's Promise: Healing Brokenness | BLESSED Morning Prayer | DAILY JESUS BLESSINGS
Every one of us has some sort of brokenness in our past. Perhaps we have grieved from a broken heart, complicated situations, loss of health, or relationships. Whether it’s from choices we have made or circumstances beyond our control, sometimes we find ourselves so profoundly broken that we don’t know how things could ever be restored.
There is no cleanness in brokenness. It looks raw, unfiltered, ruined. You see it when you see it. You feel it when it’s real. And because we live in a broken world, we get used to broken things. We learn to live with it, putting on a happy tune and going about our business. But we need to remember that our God mends broken things. He doesn’t want us to remain broken. That is why He sent His Son to save us.
It’s the enemy who wants brokenness. He tried to break the good things that God created, and he is still trying today. In the beginning, we read how God created everything, and it was beautiful. Everything had its place and purpose, and after the sixth day, everything was completed.
“And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.”
Genesis 1:31 ESV
He didn’t like that God made man. He didn’t like that Adam and Eve had a relationship with God, and he decided to break it or rather tried to break it. And when Adam and Eve ate of the tree and were cast out of Eden, his plan seemed to have worked. It seemed like he was able to destroy what God had created. But that was not the end of the story because our God mends what is broken, and He had a plan to mend our broken relationship with Him.
God loved us so much that He couldn’t just let the pieces lie where they fell. He refused to give up on His creation. So God sent His Son, Jesus, to live and die as a human so that we could see He was serious about wanting a relationship.
“Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death, he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.”
Hebrews 2:14-17 ESV
