2020 was a difficult year for many people. With a global pandemic of the novel coronavirus, many businesses and churches across the United States shuttered in response to local ordinances, government regulations, and executive orders.
But while the world was fighting coronavirus, Bernie Menear was fighting a battle with stage 2 breast cancer.
"I had to go through something," she said as she described her battle with cancer.
She could sense something wasn't quite right in her body and at first, she didn't want to talk about it. Eventually, she went to the doctor, underwent a series of tests and received the diagnosis.
Crushed, she cried out to God, "Why me?" And He reassured her saying, "Why not you?"
In Bernie's family, there had been a history of cancer. She lost her mother to breast cancer when she was a young girl. Her daughter also faced a leukemia diagnosis when she was younger.
God showed Bernie that her battle with cancer was not for her only; it was her standing in faith and fighting in the spirit to break the generational curse of cancer off her family.
Through this she learned that knowing what the Word of God says is not the same thing as believing it.
God is still in the miracle working business even in today's godless society. When His people cry out to Him in faith, when they believe Him and honor Him, He is able to do great and mighty works.
