I'm on the other end of this. My daughter n law never takes my grandbabies outside. Despite living in a safe neighborhood by a park and lake. Despite me buying her jogging strollers and encouraging her to stop staying in the house with them watching TV and eating processed food. It breaks my heart. It's a spiritual stronghold to harm children. We drive through neighborhoods packed with children and families and never see the kids outside playing as my gen x did from dawn till dusk. My grandmother would sit in the heat and watch me play for hours and she was overweight and 70. It's so important. My children all grown have a thousand memories of me camping with them , lake trips, state park , beach...fishing...cycling instead of driving. One of the things I'm most thankful for making memories I have to take to my deathbed of them loving God's creation and the wonder on their little sun kissed faces.
