Yes. They threw a lot ebay sellers under the bus. Quick books is the most confusing thing I ever saw.

I have spent over 60 hours trying to migrate into QBO with complete failure. The migration tool into QBO didn't work for almost 80% of my stuff. And then GoDaddy says "well we can only help to a certain point." Calling QBO has been a joke... half-trained help that couldn't do much, some folks who were so bad at speaking, I spent more time trying to understand the words they were using instead of understanding what they were saying. Moreover, QBO Support assumes you already assume the concepts of accounting and their setup. This has been an absolute nightmare from which I can't wake up. Screw GoDaddy for this quagmire.

i wish someone would come up with a general questionnaire were you could plug in yes or no answers about your business and then it would tell you which book keeping apps or methods you need and exactly which numbers you need to plug in where, with examples. for me accounting and bookkeeping is like going to a doctor and asking for help and them saying, 'i don't know, could be a number of things, you choose'. Well i wouldn't be going to the doctor if i had a clue. The combination of vague answers and accounting jargon is so confusing that i just get conflusted and put it off.

I have been using Wave. My bank account is linked to Wave. I Gross up my sales for all my platforms on a monthly basis to record all fees and total sells as a separate journal entry for each platform. I use the cash basis accounting method. It's very simple and I can easily keep my accounting updated monthly.

Even after watching, reading comments in your FB group, still don't know what to do. QB sounds awful b/c it doesn't do simple things like GD did. I don't sell tons, but I almost want to just quit selling

I think I'm going to start using an anonymous twitter account to track my expenses. Take and post photos of my purchases, mileage, and other expenses. I'll put them in an excel sheet later. If the IRS ever gets curious, I'll just send them a link to the twitter account.

i do a spreadsheet too! i enter all my inventory and the cost of each item. then then it sells i just put how much it sold for. then each month i put the cost of ebay fees. that covers it for me. i'm happy. i have a few calculations to subtract COG from Sales price and Ebay fees for each month and bam, i have my total. then i have a sum that adds each month's total :) good video thanks for sharing

This is what I do too. The programs overwhelm me. I spend about an hour a month doing 'my books'.

Honestly eBay managed payments gives you a pretty good start anyway. Just dump it into a spreadsheet and finish off the COGS. This video is eleven minutes of way too much. Thanks to the author, but really good bookkeeping isn't the goal. The goal is recording all income and expenses and inventory, and doing it as simply and quickly as possible to move onto other things.

Well I just spent money on QB self employed yesterday only to find out I can't connect ebay to it to automate the daily sales like godaddy did. I don't know what to do and I don't have any experience using spreadsheets. I am freaking out right now. Any other ideas? Thanks!

same here, get QB self employed version, to find out that you can't integrate it with eBay, unless you have proper "Company version", whatever that means.

I wouldn't wish QuickBooks on my worst enemy. The help forums are abysmal. The moderators only reluctantly admit to bugs or missing functions in the software after repeated prodding. They say they will get admitted problems fixed, but they never do, EVER, and offer half-assed, wonky work arounds in the interim or just shrug their shoulders and pass the issue on to the next unwitting moderator. With all due respect to the visually impaired, QuickBooks is akin to a composition by a blind man who painted a picture based on the verbal description of an object that he has never seen in his life. IMO, nobody at QuickBooks has ever owned a business and as such nobody working at that company has ever actually had to rely on their own software.

I found out recently that a lot more people use the cash method than I thought! I was killing myself with countless hours trying to put the cost on every single $10 - $15 profit sale.. Now I just input my purchase price as 0 but write off the whole amount of each inventory purchase.. Is that right?

Do we need to repurchase each additional course. I kinda remember if you bought the last course you would have access to additional ones for free. Is this correct?

I have a question I hope you can help me with. It seems to be a question many people who switched to QB from GoDaddy are having an issue with. How do you record sales transactions from Postmark and Merchari and account for the commission fees and shipping charges? I have my bank linked so the payments show up in QB when I transfer the funds, but I'm unsure of how to enter the rest of it. It shows in my bank account with fees already taken out. Any help would be greatly appreciated I’m so lost!!!

you can get an app to do auto import. on the black tap on the left side of the page, find apps and search for postmark and mercari to see what apps might auto import their transactions.

@@notyourdadscpa Hey great videos i notice you didn't say much about the reseller certificate part so you buy your inventory from china you gave them your certificate to not pay tax on your order do you pay the state that tax to your state or no because it's out of the country your buying your stocks?

find another content creator that suits your needs. your " boring" is my soothing. more important, don't do that...be rude to people. there's a finite number of kind, knowledgeable creators out there. don't want them rethinking putting themselves out there, when they're just trying to help.
