Todd thanks for sharing I think that is an awesome idea, mounting the AD100 to the strobe frame, can you not mount the AD100 directly to the step of tame with the 1/4 20? It’s been a long time since I have used the strobe frame.👍👍👍👍
I use an Ad200 with an extenison round light and mount it on an extenison handle on my camera with a cage. The main ad200 is in a sling bag on me. The V1 foot has broken on me 3 times, but I still use it for portraits shoots with an SMDV softbox.
I am going to start learning flash photography. I want a not too heavily priced, lightweight, portable setup that I can take with me wherever I go to cultivate and continue this new hobby of mine. What do you suggest?
Anything Godox is going to do well for you. The price is right on their lights. As you can see I like the V1 and the Ad100. The Ad200 and 300 are also great. The 400, 600 and 1200 start to get much bigger so you may not like the portability of those as much.
@@photographer8486 If you ever think you will be doing on camera flash type shoots then the speed light (V1 or similar) is how I'd go first. You can use it as an off camera flash as well so you won't be limited. It is also a cheaper first step into flash. If you plan to have it off camera you'll need a trigger as well.
Most of the reports about broken hot shoes was on the Sony compatible v860ii and the earlier version of the V1 (the thumb screw version) both which have the plastic hot shoe. I have not heard as many reports of broken hot shoes even on the Sony versions of the newer versions of the V860iii and V1 (the version with the locking hot shoe) which is made mostly of metal. You are now able to buy replacement hot shoes for the V1 and V860iii.
Yes please do a comparison having the same internal debate. Best bang for the buck: Neewer Z1(Godox V1) by a land slide. Flexibility of flash head with least equipment: Z1. Compatibility with a Triple Threat: AD100 T.1 at 1/1: AD100. So hopefully you can break the tie. And thank you for making these videos.

The one that I put together in the video was the Quick Flip 120 and the one the viewer told me about was the Custom Brackets RF-Pro Rapid Fire Rotation Bracket. There are lots of variations of brackets that a re similar to these as well.
I've actually got an *L-Bracket* with a removable *cold shoe* mount on it, and that's what got me thinking about this as well. I have a *TT685* right now, and I'm looking to switch to a *V1* or *AD100* . I'm way more excited about the *AD100* , as I kind of hate every minute my *TT685* is on my camera body. It's the older version and has the clunky scew-down plastic ring at the hotshoe. I'm on Sony, and the sony hotshoes from Godox are *notorious* for snapping off. I actually thought I broke it for a minute at my last wedding. So yeah, I'm torn lol. I know the *v-1* will present with ALL the problems I already have with my *TT685* . The *AD100* however, also offers a lighter solution to my original *AD200* , which I hate the weight of, and it's a pain to mount stuff to / use with modifiers. I own one *ML-60* and two *ML-30* continuous lights. The *ML-60* majorly saved my ass last wedding. It was a dim, rainy day, and the ceremony was outside under a tent, dimly lit, and started at 7:16pm (aka dark). I took my *ML-60* , set it to 2800k, and pointed it at the roof of the tent. The got beautiful photos at 1/160, f1.4, 3200 without blasting flash throughout the ceremony. I've also got a video making an adapter to go from the godox mount to bowens mount without an s2 bracket lol. I also do welding / metalworking, I'm a weird guy lol
Thanks for the comment. As for the AD100, I don't think you'll ever regret that decision. There may be times when you need more power but in a great deal of situations it is the perfect little light.
@@Todd_Kuhns yep, the only time in recent memory that I *actually* needed the power of the ad200 was when I was doing dog portraits lol. I was using it to freeze the motion of throwing a treat and them catching it XD
