It's no shock that production equipment is expensive, and I know there are a lot of smaller creators like myself that just simply do not have the budget to shell out hundreds (If not thousands) of dollars on studio-grade lighting equipment.
That's where the Godox SL60W comes in clutch! This 60w Cob Light is a budget powerhouse and should be more than enough for any aspiring and/or growing creator that is looking to take their lighting to the next level. Now this light alone just doesn't do the trick as it is simply too harsh and uncontrolled. That's where the Godox 47" Softbox w/ Grid comes to the rescue. This softbox is HUGE, so if you do not have ample space within your home, then you may want to size down a bit to something that will fit in your space. I wanted something that would cast/shape as much light as I could get, so I really pushed the limits of my room with this softbox, and I am very glad that I did.
This Godox 47" Grid Softbox helps shape and guide your light in your intended direction, stopping it from spilling all over your room, which was the biggest hindrance to my aging Neewer softbox lights from 2017. Now I am able to light either myself or my subject with nice even lighting without blasting that same light onto my background and washing out any accent lighting I am attempting to use.
Lastly, I paired this Godox duo with a hair light and a fill light to complete a nice 3 point lighting setup. In this video, we also go over what the setup looks like with just the key light, the key light and fill light, the key light and hair light, and so on and so forth.
Overall, I am pleasantly surprised at how far I could stretch a $300 budget, and just how much more dynamic the lighting will make my future videos. Now, I already had some of this gear; however, if you're like me and were upgrading as well, you can easily achieve similar budget results with just the Godox pairing in conjunction with your current lights, or you can purchase everything from scratch for close to $400, which is only $100 more than what I spent.
