@@unverifiedusername holy smokes, that's a great idea! I should have suggested it in the description :D Thnx for the comment etc. glad u liked the video :*
I played this game in my childhood, I can't even remember the name of this game, I really appreciate your video, which is full of my childhood memories.
I've played Gods a hundred times and I've watched tons of playthroughs of it too through the years, but I've never seen anyone play as skillfully as you. I've only watched the first 20 minutes, but so far you've taken no damage (unless for time-saving purposes with a health item lying just around the corner) and you have found some bonus/secrets that I never knew existed. Hats off to you!!!
Thnx for the compliment :) Gods is one of the first PC games I ever played, it is very dear to my heart :) also: take your time, I don't expect anyone to watch the whole thing in one go (I wouldn't either :D)
At 52:27, I remember if you're too slow to flip that switch on the left, the World Key will be pushed into the spikes, and you have to use the trap door key to obtain the bombs in order to destroy the said spikes (which will be removed later as well), thus sacrificing your tertiary fire (Hunters) for nothing, that's why the hint is important: Use your trap door key wisely
GG Bitmap Brother are the best at this time ( for me ) i remind my first game on my pc monochrome ( bleach color ) finished Xenon 2 with one life . I played it all the time , i loved this game sooooo much ! Seing you finshi this game with one life remind me many good things , thank you my friend ! I have " buy it " and instaled it one week ago and i wanted to see if it's possible to one life it . Mission accomplished . It rest to do the same :D
hey thanks man, I always wanted to 100% complete it :D Nevertheless, these old games have such a specific feel to them, you can NEVER be too sure you've done them a 100% justice, if u know what I mean :)
Excellently played! 👍 I had this on the Amiga 500, and Richard Joseph's remix of Nation 12's "Into the Wonderful" has to be one of the best intro themes (for an Amiga game) of all time. 🙂
Oh hey I remember this. I played it long ago on PC - which had way worse sounds then what you have here, every gem dropped had a loud "PING" sound. I never found all the secrets but I did manage to beat the final boss, and I thought the ending where you got immortality - which just mean you get like 10 extra lives to replay the game again - was pretty lame for what was a pretty hard game, but I did enjoy it. I guess its abandonware so GoG doesn't sell it, but if they did I probably would get it there. Great video.
yeah, the +10 extra lives after beating the final boss is kind of lame, but also sort of funny.. its like an old-school game saying: "what did u expect?" :D
This is such an insanely impressive playthrough, you are basically flawless and perfect in your execution. Oh my God (pun intended) this was amazing to watch. I used to play this game as a kid, got all the way up to the final boss but never could beat him. Thankyou for the trip down memory lane, my friend. You've mentioned in a few comments you may do follow-up playthroughs (eg on the harder difficulty). I would love to see that if you end up doing it. Again, amazing playthrough. You clearly put a lot of effort into making this. I appreciate it.
I definitely will do a second-playthrough, I'm just a little swamped in my private life at the moment and am finishing a different project so I simply cannot manifest additional time (and patience) to do Gods again quite yet, BUT it will definitely happen :D Thank you for your support :*
I loved this game, i never was able to beat the third boss , i was 9 years old at the time. I remember the joy , of discovering secrets in this game, it was really difficult to do so.
I was also around 9-10y old, was able to play it once every other week (more/less), on my uncle's computer who lived across town. Naturally; I had to beg him into letting me play. One time he and my parents left to a restaurant or something, than went over to visit some family friends near by, I played for 10 hours straight, felt severely nauseous afterwards xD
Fun fact, you can keep the treasure chest that appears at 48:26, though unlike the Magical Gem in the previous level, it doesn't seem to do much other than waste your inventory space
At 39:17, if you jump over the bomb then head up the ladder it will remove it and you can head back down and get it for the rest of the game. After power ups its very powerful. If you time it right you can drop it from the top ledge on the final boss to kill the snake each time it attacks.
I've tried this and know it works (in other words: you're right). However, should you misstep, it could very well kill YOU and I really wanted to record a "clean run" :D Now, since you brought it up, when I get around to do the 2nd playthrough (e.g. I kept the save-state just after killing the final guardian) I believe I shall include this feature :D So thanks in advance and thank you for the comment, I'll be sure to thank you in the video that follows; whenever that may be :) :*
@@m5902 my first game EVER was Rick Dangerous for the Comodor-64 :D the next one I remember really playing was Prince of Persia on a 286 pc, somewhere around that time, Gods came into my life as well xD

This is a great video, lots of knowledge and high level of skills! You deserve some more subs, so you have mine! I'm slowly working on a walkthrough in the remastered version.
For those that want to replay it. I believe you still can replay it. There are tutorials on how to set up what needs to be set up so you can play it. I think they would still work on Windows 10-11. It's been a while, I don't remember the steps.
That was immensely satisfying to watch. How the heck did you discover all the secrets? As a kid, I spent hours and hours trying to figure them out, and still couldn’t
thanks :D Listen, u can never be a full 100% sure with these old games, but in this case I believe I nailed it; you just have to try out ALL of the combinations of paths, times, health and other plausible requirements, levers and so forth xD There's a bunch of help bonuses (half health/full health), extra lives if the game feels you're overwhelmed (that is to say; if at certain points in the game u have less lives than the developers deem worthy) etc. I was kinda thinking about doing that walkthrough next but its to arduous xD
@@Koontzily To this day the biggest secret about this game for me is what in the name of Gods do the wings and the claws do for the familiar after you buy them from the shop. I think one of those ruins the bird in that it makes it to kamikaze to death into the enemies, but I don't remember which, and I'm not sure at all as to what the other does.
@@Radii_DC maaan, I didn't know about the kamikaze thing, I'll definitely test that :D for me, the biggest mystery is the unattainable Gem, right about 40:39, I have a working hypothesis video on it but still; no solution :D
Besides the Lightning Bolt (which you didn't take for the gold chest bonus), you didn't show the Magic axe weapon (power 3), which is a tertiary fire along side your main weapon and fireball, I find it useful to kill the snake offsprings in Level 2 since the axes move along the floor. Superseded by the Hunters in Level 4
Nice. That game was tremendously difficult to play as a kid, I only beat it once when I was like 10 or so. And there was no Internet, no manuals, no nothing, just u and the game. When I grew up, I read some online walkthroughs and became seriously badass in Gods, but not THAT bad. It's a shame you didn't continue for another run on the higher difficulty. This is speed demos archives performance.
there were moments I wish I had done a little differently, like at 14:58 - there is a way to do it more efficiently, but.. what the hell xD I was thinking of doing it a second run (still haven't given up on the idea, which is why I still have the save file of the beginning of the second run), I will get around to it relatively soon. Thanks for the comment, glad u enjoyed it :)
@@Koontzily Oh yes, I saw ur video about that part, u can jump so that the stars dont hit the thief. I didnt know that, always waited for the thing to wear off. Can shave a couple of seconds off indeed. I have never done or seen a second run after beating the skull boss, that would be super interesting, the game says it gets more difficult.
@@Radii_DC yes, it does get more difficult, in standard ways (monster being harder to kill etc/or, maybe even just that, but still: you're right..) Perhaps the second run doesn't need to be as clean as the original walkthrough.. I think you've convinced me :) I'll get around to it soon enough (no joke) :D
Amazing! did not manage to bring that guardian bat into the last boss's room! and i couldn't even figure out how to get that gold cross in the temple without sacrificing one live.
Technically, these are not ALL secrets as there are many "help-bonuses" throughout the game; meaning: you have to have 01 lives or less, have half or less than half health at certain points etc. The worst thing that happened during the recording of this walkthrough was, while I was testing some alternative routes in world 1 just to make sure, I accidentally discovered a speed bonus at 11:01 (hence the detour from 11:43 to 11:49 as that monster spawn had to be postponed), so everything had to be done all over again xD This kind of game always has you wondering if you really got a 100% (like; there is a fire gem bonus at 43:07, and a water gem bonus at 45:21, but where is/and; is there/ an ice gem bonus, picked up at 44:41?) :/ xD
@@Koontzily I'm trying to use your guide to play a longplay emulator online but I can't get the jump potion in Word 1, level 2. How comes? I press the button but nothing happens... also I have read that on 1-1 there is a hidden button almost before the last door, that you may reach only if you press the last lever within 2 minutes from the start. I did but nothing happens... it's really tricky! May you help?
@@0rion79 Hey there :D regarding the hidden button in 1-1, yes; in order to get the stone at 1:32 to come out you need to reach the last lever in less than two minutes. Also, you need to acquire all previous secrets in connection to levers at 0:19, 0:43, 1:09, 1:12, 1:18 and 1:20 (like shown in the video). Now, regarding 1-2, you CANNOT get the jump potion at 2:54 if you haven't resolved the secret of the hidden button in 1-1 (alas; they are interconnected xD). Its all in the video :) P.S. never hesitate to ask anything, I always try and do my best to help :*
@@Koontzily Sorry, do you mean that i have to play the game more than once in order to unlock all secrets? Because I'm following exactly your steps Playing a fresh game and i just can't do the same n
@@0rion79 ahm.. no, you do not have to play the game more than once to unlock all secrets, where did you get that from? :D are u sure u are "returning" appropriate levers to their original position at appropriate times? now u got me hooked, we've got to solve this xD
Really great play through. I have learned so much! Gotta ask, what do the weapon power potions do? Is it a permanent increase to damage? A temporary increase? Or possibly only for the level or while you have that weapon? Thanks!
This is all I found on the subject (though, to be honest, I didn't dig that deep xD): "Buying or picking up a power potion increases the damage done by ALL of your weapons. The same effect can be achieved by getting multiples of the same weapon. Considering power potions effect all the weapons, they are obviously a far more economical way of increasing weapon hit points than buying or picking up multiples of the same weapon" the link from where I copied the text: www.lemonamiga.com/games/docs.php?id=731
@@Koontzily Thank you good sir. I saw you pick up multiple during this run so was thinking I should probably do the same. Tried digging around myself and checking the manual again but there does not seem to be any info. Might do some tests to see if I can work it out.
i saw absolutely completly... good man... what's happen after the end of the game ? if i continue ? another levels could it ? and sorry.. thanks you are a boss.. you are the real 0.K. history 🤘👌
hey thanks man! :D I will do a 2nd playthrough soon, working on a different project right now so it will have to wait, but I'll start getting on it soon, I promise. I'm also curious as to how the 2nd playthrough will be :D
Well, if you replay the game, each mon gets 1 moar hit point, so they'll be harder to kill. Supposedly you also take moar damage from hits but that's yet unconfirmed.
Thanks! :) It was recorded world by world (or, as phrased by the game: level by level - u know what I mean :D), none the less, it took many, maany attempts to get it as condensed as possible while showcasing all available secrets as well as squeezing novelty-shots here, there and wherever possible :D
not sure what you mean exactly :D please put a timestamp so I know what you are referring to :) also, when u say 'diamond from stairs', do you mean the 'special bonus - Fire Crystal' at 1:37 ?
My apologies for highjacking that video, but how does one beat the final boss on the 2nd or 3rd playthrough? I reached him, but was unable to do anything meaningful. The top left spot didnt seem to work as the worm couldn't be killed in time. But so was the bottom left spot. The worm could be ignored, but whatever he shoots out of his mouth couldn't be killed in time either. Maybe my problem was that I basically speedrunned the 2nd playthrough? On a related note: I don't understand weapon power in this game. Like at all 😅
I can't give u a 100% answer as I haven't yet even BEGUN to practice the 2nd run :D however, I'll tell u my idea: From 42:25 onward, I would keep the axes and power them up on every possible occasion; this would mean some parts of the Underworld will take much longer than if u had the maces (spots like: 51:29, 56:36, 1:05:21 etc. ---> if u don't take the Familiar at 59:33, the spot at 1:09:37 will require multiple jumps to get the final axes as only fireballs will be able do break the stones). This, of course, might cost u some bonuses but what the heck, bonuses are not the point of subsequent playthroughs anyway xD ALSO (and this is important in regards to your question), the following is a quote by the user "BenWilkinson-ib5yx" who posted an interesting comment a few months ago: @BenWilkinson-ib5yx 'At 39:17, if you jump over the bomb then head up the ladder it will remove it and you can head back down and get it for the rest of the game. After power ups its very powerful. If you time it right you can drop it from the top ledge on the final boss to kill the snake each time it attacks' ...so, this is also an option for defeating the final boss after the 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. playthrough (P.S. I also do not understand how weapon power works in this game, but I trust it :D)
Thank you very much for the in-depth reply! Taking and keeping the axes early sounds like a pretty good idea. I hope the bombs aren't the only possibilty though as I'm likely going to butcher the timing :) I'll let you know how it goes (once I actually get around to it)
Very impressive. Of all the walkthroughs I've watched, you're the only other person I've seen use the monster-attract potion to get the water gem 'correctly' on 3-2. I always check that first to see if a walkthrough is worth watching completely. Did you work that out yourself? Very nice!
baby, don't you remember? YOU are the one who told me where the bonus is (or are u just testing to see if I'll be honest?) ;) In my 'Gods - casual play' series, that wasn't the only thing I missed, but you explaining how to get this particular bonus really inspired me to give my very best :*
@@Koontzily hahaha. Oh, right. Sorry, I didn't recognise the channel. Really wasn't a test to see if you were being honest - I was just super excited to see someone get that bonus. Really nicely played. You've inspired me to fire my Amiga back up and have another crack at that annoying jewel (by the thief) in 3-1 (40:38) . Oh, I see in one of your other comments you mention it - did you finally solve it? (if you did, just confirm, don't tell me how just yet 😄)
@@187raum I haven't gotten the jewel yet but I've made interesting progress (if one could call it that xD), have a couple of theories for both cases (that is: how u can get the jewel, but also, some ideas on why it can't be done). I have a video made on the subject but I haven't posted it because I can't 100% claim one can get it, but also can't disprove that it can be done. Hey, I know u weren't testing me, I was just kidding :D Tnx for the comment etc. If I solve the jewel I'll let u know but won't tell u how unless u ask (same goes for u, of course :D) :)
@@Koontzily I messed around on 3-1 tonight (first time in years, I'm very rusty) but still haven't been able to get the gem in the Thief's Lair. I did come up with a slightly new pattern that basically stashed three thieves by the door to the room that has the World key, and I can get the Monster Attract potion there as well, but I can't lure them back up into the Thief's Lair. I might try to lure some thieves that are on the top half of the level. I'd always assumed the gem was there to keep the thief up on the platform so you had to use the potion to get him to come down. I'd be interested in your video 🙂
well, every following playthrough is tougher than the previous, I much more wonder if one would even be able to finish the game (lets say: mid third attempt) :D I did have one more video prepared on Gods (regarding the mystery jewel first appearing at 40:38, the one up on the platform by the Teleport Key) but I seem to have lost the footage xD If I get around to it, I might record it again with audio commentary as explanation. Once again, thanks for the positive feedback :)

Great walkthrough! I played this as a kid and couldn't remember the name untill a couple of days ago when i saw a facebook post about. I was so happy 😁🤣 I have a question for you though. Do you have to kill the monsters in a correct order for the bonuses to work as well? I pulled all the same levers and in the same order as you, but the stone step doesn't come out when i pull the top lever in level 1, and i don't get any jump potion in level 2 either. Sorry for the long message 😅
Hey man, thanks for the comment! :D you don't have to kill the monsters in any particular order, BUT - to get the stone at 1:32 to come out, you need to reach the last lever in less than two minutes (side-note: if I remember correctly; I don't think u have to pull all the previous levers for the stone to come out, only some, but I found its best to do them in one fell swoop, both for brevity and so as u don't get confused later on regarding each combination xD)

Umm, not so "all secrets", for instance in the first guardian you didn't found the Lightning attack which has a 25 power or so (if I recall correctly!)
if u take the lightning bolt (located inside the treasure room at 11:07) u get more fire power, true; in this case however u don't get the gold chest and key at 13:13 (plus the lightning bolt gets instantly removed when u enter the Temple) :)

I remember it from Amiga, pretty game with nice artwork, but it was soooooo damn tough, I learned to hate these kind of games (used to be called arcade adventures) where there is no way to crack the solution of the level unless you play it to infinity. Go f-yourself with those invisible switches and buttons... One of notorious ones was "Shadow of the Beast" series. It was praised to high heaven back in the day, but the gameplay was downright abysmal. Any game that make itself broken and unbeatable but make you realize that much later is just bad design. On the other hand you had some bright examples that are tough but immersive and intuitive enough like say Another world or Myth.
not to go into detail: I understand your point and fully agree. Still, I kind of miss the old-school grinding mindset, terrible games included :) btw, kidas engleski samo tako ;)
