I love how MechaGodzilla has no prior knowledge of Kong. When he was about to kill Godzilla, he was like "Now for the death of my brothers you shall..... IS THAT A FUCKING MONKEY!?!?!!"
True. Kaiju movies were not popular in America after godzilla 1998. It wasn't until Pacific Rim that they started growing back up in popularity. Even Cloverfield people liked but a lot of people whined like sissies about rhe shaky cam
We knew they wouldn’t kill Kong but those of us who aren’t delusional knew that Godzilla would win the contest between them, i think they handled it all as best as they could
Kong wouldn’t have won without Gojis help. And the director already confirmed that if Goji wasn’t already tired after a nearly full weekend of fighting, he woulda ripped mecha Godzilla to shreds on his own. It’s not about fair. Godzilla is the king of the monsters, and Kong knows that now. As such Kong would rather give Godzilla a reason to like him than continue to be adversaries, and this was the perfect opportunity for that. Otherwise, Godzilla might not spare him next time they fight the way he just did. But then Kong bit off more than he could chew, and thanks to Goji being there to supercharge that axe, Kong was able to win.
The fact Godzilla and Kong decided to put their differences aside and fought the main villain of the movie and I'm pretty sure Godzilla knew about the Axe, Explains why He charged it up his atomic breath. But overall Great movie and totally excited for Godzilla x Kong
For me it was just too sudden that they put their feud aside so fast. Yes I know jia helped convincing Kong to some degree, but you'd expect them to have an interaction on whether to team up or not
Hahaha I know right. Meanwhile Godzilla is like, "Kong! Take that! Hit him! Do it!!!! Now!! And Kong's like, "Oh don't worry I understand the assignment. This thing is gonna die now" 🤣
I always liked that what Kong didnt have in strength and durability, he made up for with his speed and intelligence. He's still strong and durable, just not like Godzilla or Mecha. But he doesn't need to be, because he's so much faster and more agile, and he's the only one who can wield weapons
Agreed. As much as I love Godzilla, he's still a reptile (sort of) with a primitive reptile brain. Kong is much more intelligent, even capable of using weapons.
@@nashr4853 Yeah but that still doesn't put him on par with Kong in intelligence. Kong is a young adult whereas Godzilla is an experienced veteran. Obviously Godzilla will pick some things up over his years of experience but Kong is naturally smarter.
@@aubhrochakravorty3331 Doesn't mean Godzilla is primitive either. If you watched Monarch, it shows how intelligent he can be. Maybe Kong is smarter but Godzila is smart too. That combined with his centuries of experience, proved to be lethal
Judging by the look Godzilla gives directly after, I gotta guess he also recognized that sound as Ghidorah's roar and realized that it was in fact Ghidorah possessing the Mecha
@@SupremeB_07 Yes, he respects him for standing his ground, whether he is winning or losing. Kong never submits and I guess to Godzilla, it is worthy of respect because he won't submit either.
Kong doesn't have power as Godzilla or technological power as mechagodzilla but he's definitely super smart. He gave some competition to Godzilla while fighting.
It breaks my heart to see poor Godzilla get beat up, HOWEVER it's amazing how tenacious he is, continuously fighting despite having nothing much left in him.
i loved seeing him finally lose to something. it’s boring to have a character especially one that’s basically a animal never lose. it feels like the stakes are never really there and gets repetitive over time so yea i loved seeing him finally lose
I think a big reason here that Mechagodzilla loses (besides teamwork) is that he underestimates Kong in a way Godzilla doesn't. After Kong jumps in and starts running interference, Mecha only takes a second to hurl him away before turning his attention back to Godzilla. Since it is Gidora's brain in there, he sees Kong as a lesser Alpha creature, and his priority is defeating Godzilla, the other strongest alpha, his rival, who killed him. Even after Kong becomes a threat with the Axe and Mecha decides to kill him, he doesn't really go all out against him. He pins him down and is slowly enjoying trying to kill him with his tail spikes rather than just blasting his head off with his atomic breath, especially since Godzilla is out for the count and he can finish him at his leisure. But underestimating both Zilla and Kong? Big mistake, which ultimately gets him killed
Since Godzilla is supposedly the last of his species and we know that they and the Kongs are long term rivals(Gidora was a one off threat), most likely Godzilla would be alive because he has survived many fights against the Kongs and know that are formidable.
Monsters fighting monsters. That's what we need in the Monsterverse. Yes, understanding the background of the Titans is also important, but we need monsters duking it out, too 😂
And that’s what you just saw. Do you only like to see a pair of giant creatures fighting or do you want to enjoy some lore and story to enrichen the characters that you like so much?
I've always liked how this film essentially comes down to a game of rock paper scissors. Godzilla beats Kong, Mechagodzilla beats Godzilla, Kong beats Mechagodzilla
You should watch the movie because that is not what happened. Kong got his ass beat by Mechagodzilla until Godzilla powered up the axe Kong was using. Kong was winded by every hit he took while Godzilla tanked everything Mechagodzilla could dish out. Once Godzilla powered up the axe, Kong was just the guy that swung it.
@@dinosaurkin5093just enjoy the movie stop this stupid fanboying accept if your non liked character is doing well too it's so sick of these goji fanboys literally the worst
Nah, neither Kong nor Godzilla were doing jack sht until thr axe was charged. It is more like Godzilla and MG are the big bois and Kong the one outgunned
Right is right And although I do not roll out Godzilla's part in defeating the mecha, I can't say that he was the one to kill him. Godzilla gets the assist, Kong gets the kill
These Godzilla movies are so awesome. Can’t wait for the new one. Always come back to these clips and the movies. When kong rips his head out it’s one of the best scenes ever. Chills every time
03:50 Man……this scene alone was worth the IMAX screening. The score. Godzilla helpin Kong. Literally holding a decapitated robot head and roaring to the world as the victor 💪 These moments are what the large screens are made for 🤩
This just shows how much they need each other, instead of fighting each other, as well shows how much each of them need the humans as well, they all saved each other and this scene was just badass man
@@peterstoric6560 oh yea for sure, that’s what I was thinking as well. Godzilla just drilled through the earth with his atomic breath and had a helluva battle with Kong and still put up a good fight against Mecha, the true king fr
@@Pqihtyieojn12 not really because the director even said the fight would have VERY different , so the chances of godzilla beating mechagodzilla isnt low. We can see that when godzilla uses his atomic breath , the beam is less dense and his dorsal plates doesnt glow that much compared to before , so if godzilla was at full power and with good nap he could beat mecha godzilla , but it doesnt mean godzilla would win for sure , but has more chance to win than to loose
4:22 that was just brutal My man couldve continued to smash his axe onto him but no, he chose to finish it with his own hands. Gotta love his brutality.
Nobody is dogging on anybody. The film makers wanted to Kong to look strong despite a loss to Godzilla. The only way to achieve this is to have Kong beat the main villain. That way Kong restores some credibility. Godzilla is the strongest, that's plain obvious but Kong is very popular and he'll always be around.
@@asafakiva1619 no it’s the fact that Godzilla went out so easily against mecha. Even tho kong lost badly he still damaged Godzilla. But here we have the creators making Godzilla look like a complete joke against MG.
In the book it's implied Ghidorah took control of Sarazawa's sons body and is now running around in human form. That's something i want to see more of.
Great writing. If you’re gonna make Godzilla lose, only do some after he used up a ton of his atomic breath on boring a hole through earth and then a ton of energy on Kong. It made his defeat way more believable.
Was there an explanation why he bored the Earth? When I watched the movie I thought he was tearing into Apex’s base but in the end, we find out that he tore a hole into Kong’s throne room.
@@o.m9514 the person who made the movie said he would definitely win if he was fresh... I mean you can tell that he is pretty much exhausted after the first few back and forths and can't even stand to help Kong finish him off even though we've seen him go much harder for longer than that.
To be fair this Mechagodzilla was controlled by Ghidorahs brain who already knows how to fight Godzilla. And he was coming off the bench completely fresh after Kong and Goji did two rounds beating each other up. The director of this film did say that if Godzilla was at full strength and didn't expend his energy blowing a hole to the Hollow earth he could have taken him. But then again it wouldn't be a proper Mechagodzilla appearance if there wasn't one scene where he viciously beats on Godzilla, its pretty lore accurate haha
@@NoSyrupLeft yeah I understand that, I more so talking given the circumstances of the fight if that guy had not mess with mechagodzillas systems during their team up both g and Kong would have been dead
Yall forgot the biggest concept. Even though directors confirmed that if goji was tired all weekend then kong would've won against him, something like that. But what the directors played smart with is that godzilla was given power of strength and little smartness, while kong possed strength but high amount of intellectual intelligence which alines with an old saying: dont always rely on strength but also smartness. What if the directors replaced kong with godzilla and it were 2 Godzilla's against a mecha godzilla. It would've been a tie or a win for mecha godzilla. This is too show why unequal forces had to be used in order to defeat something beyond their potential. 🗿
Realisticly, Kong does have more range of movement, and can use his body in many different ways than Godzilla, but Godzilla is physically more stronger, reason he won against mecha Godzilla was because the robot was built to fight Godzilla, countered him in everyway. But Kong is different, more flexible, more agile, and I think he's supposed to be a symbol of courage and bravery for the humans, well in my eyes at least. Godzillas just a powerhouse.
I would say his upper body is stronger but godzilla has MUCH more core strength. If those two were to clash into each other with a full sprint godzilla would knock kong over, but kong's fist is gonna hit way harder than godzilla's scrawnier arms. Still, even if kong has much more body control and dexterity, atomic breath and scaly armor that turns missiles into the blow of a pebble is gonna outweigh kong's strength entirely, even with the unpowered axe.
I had a blast seeing all this in theater These are the only movies who are 100000% made for theaters, I loved every second of it Waiting for the next installment, lets gooooo
And people say that Godzilla in Godzilla X Kong The New Empire run is corny, he literally ran like mad here when he saw mecha Godzilla plus he ran fast when he was fighting Kong. And I think this is the reason why he evolved so he never experience another powerful and good fighting monster ever again. Love Godzilla new design in Godzilla X Kong.
Another comment mentioned that he took some notes from Kong for his next evolution; sleeker, more agile body with longer arms allowing him to gain more speed and use his momentum more effectively
Funny thing about Kong beating Mechagozilla when you think about it. Highest advance tech (Mechagodzilla) being defeated by a very primative organic tech (godzilla spine axe), powered by an organic power source (gozilla atomic breath).
Opnions aside, this fight is still for me arguably one of the best fights in Legendary's Godzilla PERIOD. From Mechagodzilla overwhelming Godzilla, to Godzilla powering the axe, to Kong rips Mecha's skull and spine off, everything in this fight is beautiful.
Mechagodzilla is my favorite character and even though I wish he could've gotten like 9 hours of screen time I have to say this was amazing. The fact Godzilla was getting stomped and Kong had to help and the new design and the entrance/music.....it was just so fucking cool
Good thing Godzilla isnt as smart as Kong and doesn't realize MechaGodzilla was made especially to fight him by humans. Lol Kong would've realized this and it would've been on site for humanity 😂🤣
I don't care if they feel like they're too agile for their size. Mechagodzilla was pulling some really awesome combos on the G-Man. 1:34 this one in particular is one of my faves.
4:33 Best Kong there is and ever will be. Monsterverse Godzilla is my second favorite. Number one being 1985, Number three Shin, Number four Minus One, and Number five GMK. Designs are in the same order
This is the only real moment I felt bad for Godzilla. I never seem that scared or confused. I’m a Kong fan but I’m happy Kong stepped in to help. We need him.
Like how you really saw kong's intelligence shine here. He coukdvr kept trying to fight MG with his fists but realized theyd do no damage so he went after the ax
The reason Mechagodzilla was going after regular Godzilla more than Kong was because Ghidorah was using the robot as its new body and he wanted revenge, but the combined efforts of Godzilla and Kong denied him revenge and killed him again, for good this time
Uhh, not quite. Mechagodzilla’s goal was to replace Godzilla. That is the reason why he targeted him. Mechagodzilla just used ghidorah’s head for a power source.
