Season 23 of Godzilla Battle Line brought us two new units from Shin Kamen Rider, Kamen Rider himself and Kumo Augment. But this video is late as fuck and its already season 24 so nobody cares about them anymore. Both of these guys really shook up the meta for better or for worse. Kamen is a fantastic leader which we could always use more of given the small roster of viable leaders, but Kumo was absolutely broken. Almost everyone was using him at the time. His kit combined with the boosted levels easily made him the best unit in the game, and the meta revolved completely around him. Many players including myself were not happy with how oppressive he was. Games boiled down to who could use Kumo better, and he also made several other units obsolete, which you never wanna see. So thanks to the community coming together and mass messaging Toho about how unbalanced he was, Kumo received a major nerf in the following season to his damage and attack speed. In this video he is pre nerf so be wary of that. He is no longer the menace he was.
Kumo Augment is a 3 star, 3 cost ground unit with a long distance aoe stun. It hits three times in a big wide fan shaped hitbox that can cover an entire push and stun them repeatedly so his teammates can go ham. He's basically a better Minilla with more health, damage and aoe. Before the nerf he could stun lock many units from afar and chip them away with his decent attack speed. But now his attack speed is a sluggish 4 seconds, so he can no longer do that thankfully.
Kumo dosen't do well against stun immune units like Ultraman and Gearth, or units that can get up in his face with fast dps like Gigan 04. Kiryu and Mog can also sneak in and assassinate him pretty easily. Trains can be used to finish him off if he survives with a sliver of health.
Kamen Rider is a 4 cost ground unit who flies into battle on a motorcycle and knocks enemies back in an area. After that he walks slowly and attacks ground units with punches, and flying units with a jump kick that has knockback. His stats are great for his cost. He can 1v1 Biollante in the water who notoriously has the highest dps in the game. The flying kick attack is a bit worse. The knockback doesn't do much for him and here's why:
Knockback is kinda bad in this game especially when it's on short ranged units like Kamen. Knocking enemies back means he has to walk up to the enemy to attack again, and most of the meta flyers have good range so they will still be hitting Kamen while he's walking up to them. This is the same thing that makes JJ73 absolutely fucking garbage, having to walk back up to an enemy after hitting them. Knockback is only good against other short ranged units, like Rodan 62, Megaguirus and others so they aren't given a chance to attack. So try to send Kamen out on those guys instead of a Battra.
Kamen Rider leader is absolutely insane, and might actually dethrone Godzilla 89 for best leader in the game. He has super long attack range, kicks enemy flyers back so they can't hit him, and his ability is a full screen 3 second stun that's only 2 cost! There are dozens of teams you can use with this guy, but leader ambushers work best with him from my experience. Kiryu, Mog, and the Gigan Sachiel push are extremely deadly with the stun. It just gives you so much time to unleash hell on your opponent. The ability can also be used to avoid Kiryu's Absolute Zero Cannon because there are invincibility frames during it. I'm stoked to use this guy more. Toho really buckled the fuck down on this leader after taking two massive shits with MG21 and G21 leader.
I'm using the KIDS ship again, cause it got reduced to 4 cost but its still a little unreliable to use. I often just held it the entire match cause there were no good opportunities to use it. It's certainly better now but what I think is screwing it up is the small teleportation radius. It's smaller than the other effect pieces and forces you to bunch up your units making them very susceptible to aoe. But I did enjoy using it once I found the right units. Bomb squad units, Bio, and G04 work well with it cause they all have 360 aoe attacks. Single target attackers might target onto something other than the enemy leader, and you don't want that. But with the units I just mentioned you're always gonna deal at least some damage to your opponent.
So an update on my vids, I'm gonna start using both the new units and leader in the same vid. So in this vid I use Kamen unit for a few games then I switch over to Kamen leader. This is because my vids are taking longer to make and I often miss out on the new leaders, so I'm choosing to use both in my vids now so y'all can see gameplay of both. Next time I'll be playing around with MG74 and Chibi Godzilla who are both really fun. Stay tuned.
