Godzilla Minus One Official Trailer Reaction Review & Discussion 

I wasn't expecting the sequel to Oppenheimer to come out this fast.

Love to see Mr H genuinely enthused. When a pro reviewer like him, who's a little jaded by watching an awful lot of crap movies in recent years, is excited you know something good is in store. And thanks to Mr H for his fortitude. He's watching all that crap so we don't have to😀

To me, Shin Godzilla was a necessary movie to make to reestablish Godzilla as a absolute terrifying creature, setting the stage for this movie to really be like this century’s 1954 movie.

God damn, between the carnage, his burnt face, and that single line “That monster will never forgive us.” Godzilla is out for blood. And we’ll all love him for it!

This movie to me is very much like a soft-remake of the 1954 film. The post-war setting is brilliant, I absolutely dig it!! And apparently according to rumors, this movie is gonna serve as a basis for Toho's new cinematic universe that's separate from the Monsterverse. So not only do we get two Godzilla movies releasing with a tv series in between, we also could potentially be getting TWO Godzilla cinematic universes!! Also I love how much you bring up the VFX because Toho really nailed it here. The Japanese film industry is just evolving more and more! They really put a lot of modern Hollywood films to shame with this single banger!!! *Edit: fixed comment according to the information regarding a new cinematic universe by Toho. Rumors for now*

The trailer looks great and puts much of the current Hollywood garbage to shame, feels good to actually look forward to a movie.

Over the history of this, the longest running film/character in cinema, this one *is* truly unique. While there is a squad behind him putting in their time and effort, it is Yamazaki's vision, under his full direction, that has been brought to life. Three aspects that have always been delegated🤯 He deserves all the support we can give him AND his Godzilla👍

Good to be excited for something for a change. Looking great, hopefully it's on par with Shin Godzilla.

The big nuclear looking explosion is a battleship being destroyed by his breath weapon from below. Watch it frame by frame and you see a huge beam of light coming up through the ship and into the sky. Then the explosion is a different color. That makes it even more amazing!

Nate getting so excited " my dog is barking outside... Wh wh ww.. who cares?" 😂 Genuinely haven't been this excited for a film In several years. Japanese film makers schooling Hollywank on how it's done. Can not wait to see this.

Yep, terrific trailer. Short and absolutely nothing wasted, great editing, no dead air, nothing is overplayed or overloaded (Rebel Moon looking at you).

Love how the Monsterverse is mindless blockbuster fun while Toho does more interesting takes on Godzilla, the best of both worlds really.

“That is how you do a trailer!” YES EXACTLY! It is legit perfect as it sets the tone immediately, the music is fantastic, the tittle character is hidden yet shown just enough, and intrigue is absolutely there throughout!

This looks brilliant. Firstly the music sounds epic, truly creating an ominous feel of pure terror and catatstropy. The visuals and cinematography look outstanding. When comparing this to Shin Godzilla, I think Toho have got the balance right with this one. Shin was more like a giant parasite working on autonomy, like a zombie. This godzilla feels like it has pure rage and attacking on emotion which gives this Godzilla some slight form of personality. I am intrugued about the whole 2 Godzillas in this aswell. Whether that is one radiated and one not or whether we get to see Godzilla in his original form before the effects of radiaition. Either way looking forward to it

My personal theory is that the 2 monsters are both just the one godzilla, the first is the normal version who's just basically a big dinosaur who wakes up and attacks Japan, the second is the same Godzilla after he's had the atomic bomb dropped on him as a last ditched effort to stop him, instead of killing him it just burns and deforms him like the way he looks in the original film, he probably gets his atomic breath from the bomb too

This looks great and can't wait to see it. I really like when he turns and his tail has to build up speed whipping thru the building. Plus the boat blast is amazing!!

Absolutely stunning! Visually it's incredible! It looks amazing! The tone is so dark and grim! That under boat shot, I'm not sure if that could be the smooth, orca like Godzilla, it's underwater but the dorsal plates look alot smoother and rounder but could jst be the water, either way that shot is amazing!! I can't watch it enough!!! Haha

This film looks great can't wait to see it in theaters later this year. Been a longtime fan of Godzilla so getting to see an old school styled Godzilla film on the big screen is perfect.

My theory is the line “that monster will never forgive us”, is about Godzilla and how they tried to kill him but failed. Love this trailer!

Like OMG 😮 This trailer was f****ng epic ! I think it was atomic breath Mr.H cause if you look closely, the beam is blue-ish right before the explosion so yeah. Visuals are next level, everything just feels right and real, attention to detail, music, visuals, scale, colours, atmosphere....everything just perfectly blends together in an outstanding imagery. Hollywood should take notes how to do CGI. This film could even teach Legendary somethig, like how to save money on VFX, just hire one guy :D :D Imagine if Toho and Legendary joined forces. Cant Wait.

I knew you would love this. I had goosebumps watching this last night when it dropped. Just a magnificent trailer. They nailed it and you expressed it with all the appropriate adjectives in how it is meant to make you feel. The music, everything, just gave me chills. I will be in the theatre for this one.

At 7:20 I think godzilla is underwater facing his atomic breath upwards that goes right through the battleship. Just like in godzilla vs kong

Fun fact, TakashI Yamazaki started his VFX career at Shirogumi in the mid-80s, which was one of the VFX studios that worked on Shin Godzilla

Anything Godzilla and kaiju, whether its wacky sci-fi late Showa style or serious grounded 2014/'54 style is always amazingly spectacular!

I have watched most of the original Godzilla movies, all brilliant. It feels like Toho just knows how to do it really and their logo just stays the same.

Saw the trailer and it looked good, but I’m still meh on Godzilla just because the VFX of Godzilla it just looks very off in my opinion, I think the Godzilla from Monsterverse looks better but that’s just probably different budgets and productions, the destruction looks great, but storywise from the trailer viewpoint it doesn’t look interesting at all in my opinion. Looks boring storywise.

In my opinion I think the blast underneath the ship is Godzilla's atomic breath being let loose from beneath the waves. Very similar to what they did in Godzilla vs Kong. I'm even more hyped up if that's what it looks like. 🎉🎉🎉

He wrote and directed and did the VFX all? Holy Crap. I can not wait for this movie. I bet you the budget for this movie is way less the $100 million US most western studios spend on movies like this. All the US studios need to take a lesson from Toho on this. I'd say they made this movie right at the budgets limit. I doubt if we'll see any reports later that they ran over by untold millions do to re shoots and other nonsense.

This proves once and for all that the west needs to leave Godzilla to the Japanese.

I'm so stoked we're getting a solo Godzilla movie! Going back to basics just like the 1954 movie. I always thought Godzilla was at his very best when he was on his own causing mayhem in Japan and it looks like that's exactly what they're going to give us. Give me a well written survival drama with Godzilla as the backdrop and you can take my money! This is what I was hoping Godzilla 2014 was going to be when they released that Halo jump teaser, before I found out they added in the Muto.

Welp, it looks like Toho took Godzilla back good, and proper. I love the Legendary films, but this is on a whole other level. Me being the proud owner of all, but three Godzilla movies, I can safely say this will definitely be a blu ray purchase to add to my collection. On top of which we're getting another Legendary film, AND live action series?! We're being spoiled, and I'm all over it like a bad rash!

Great trailer for a great looking film. Actors, Actresses, and Writers in Hollywood can stay on strike for another year as long as films such as this keep coming from other countries with actual talent. Godzilla Minus One and others will benefit greatly from US films being pushed back.

I’m just awe struck! This brings back all the old “feels” when I was a kid pulling the covers over my head to hide! No slam against Legendary because I’m grateful for their contribution to the monsterverse BUT this actually looks scary!

Any bets that unless there's an extremely annoying contemporary "Message" repeated very heavily handed throughout the entire movie, the "Them" will cry and call for the movie to be erased and of course "Canceled". It is considered by some that it's highly illegal to have a movie that if just fun and entertaining.

I always said TOHO should only make big Godzilla films and not Hollywood. They just don't get it. After the magnificent Shin Godzilla that was also pure terror, it just goes to prove that the Japanese should keep their baby boy and us in the West beg to watch it. Its understandable that the director did the VFX as well (besides also writing). He's been at this thing CGI wise since his 2008 comedic movie Always: Sunset on 3rd Street, which featured a dream sequence of a 40's era Japan being attacked by a CGI'd Godzilla. Then he was also responsible for Godzilla The Ride; 4D amusement park VFX ride in Japan. So this movie is an evolved work from those And yes MCU cant get their shit together VFX management wise in comparison lol

Honestly just loooks like a generic MCU movie trailer, IMO, except with a giant lizard. There's nothing 'holy shit'-worthy about it (especially, of all things, that random top-down shot of a ship trundling through the water).

Wow…that was freaking epic man! I love Godzilla ever since I was a kid watching Saturday morning cartoons and then I’d find Godzilla on another station! Actually was depressed after Godzilla 1984 when he fell in that volcano…

I love every Godzilla movie, but the Japanese style is something else man. Godzilla isn't just a monster, he is a force of nature destroying everything in his path, and they SHOW IT ! Finally !!!
