For me, the Monsterverse has tried way too hard to deliver compelling storylines, and usually failed. Wingard said, “fuck it. We don’t need that. Let’s just do monsters”. I respect the hell out of him for that. People complained so much about the focus on humans in this series. Now, it was too much “dumb fun action”? You can’t please certain people. This movie is an absolute blast

Godzilla minus one proves a giant monster movie can have characters with depth.

I love that this movie focused more on the Titans and less on the humans.

What made this movie fun is that it got rid of the need to ground this universe in our reality and just go absolutely crazy with the lore and mythology. This is a movie that says FUCK PHYSICS and go nuts!

Godzilla is very much a supporting character to Kongs lead

Just watched in IMAX ( Sydney) and it was a sold out session. All the young audience were very happy with it , they were all talking about their favourite scenes while i tried to exit the cinema. I thought it was a whole lot of fun 🤩

Mothra has her own movie series in Japan. Of all the classic giant monster franchises only Godzilla, kong, mothra, and gamera have more than 2 movies. Most giant monster movie franchises have 1 or 2 films.

Hard to believe this movie is tied to the godzilla film from 2014. I liked the more serious tone of of that movie vs this one. The monsters seemed way more dangerous and had some serious scale to them where this movie makes them seem more like video game characters.

I went to the theater with my 10-year old son and we both had an absolute BLAST! And for a father to see your kid with a big-ass smile in his face is just priceless! By the way, I found Dan Stevens and Brian Henry's characters VERY irritating, but I didn't really care. Thank you, titans!

I went to the 11am showing and the theater was full. It was a big, dumb monster movie and not Shakespeare. It’s Good Friday today. Kids are home and they will go to the movies. It was great for what it was supposed to deliver.

I went to every Godzilla movie here in Germany as a child and was always in the front row. I only expect mega monster team battles from a movie like this, nothing more. It was always so cool in the old movies when they beat each other up like in wrestling

Never been a big King Kong fan but this might be my favorite iteration of Kong I’ve ever seen.

A bit insulting to use the word "dumb" when describing this movie. You could call it campy, or cheesy...but dumb feels insulting to a movie you enjoyed. If the monsters broke into a song & dance routine or started talking...that I would consider "dumb."

Movie was good but Godzilla needs more ample screen time.

Just remember in Monarch all major cities have alarms that go off warning that a Titan is incoming and they have mass-evacuation plans. Rio is fucked though, doubt there was any warning for them just exploding out of the ground haha

You can tell that Kong has been in some fights since moving to hollow earth from the battle scars on his chest. Since there were no mid or end credit scenes. I'm hoping we get to see either Destroyah or Space Godzilla in the next one or we have like a battle royal team up of like Destroyah, Space Godzilla, Gigan, Megallon, Biolante and other evil monsters on one side and on the other, we get Godzilla, Kong, adolescent Kong (grown up by then), Mothra, Rodan, Mechagodzilla, Jet Jaguar, and the wild card of Ultraman.

The one time I couldn't care less about an opinion, if the criticism on the human aspect of the story exists then clearly went into the movie with a silly expectation. I can't remember me waking up going hey I can't wait to watch godzilla x kong to see what the humans are upto. All that crap went over my head coz that's not what the movie was wanting you to give a crap about. So just watch the action for what is expected. Absolutely killer movie can't wait for the 4k release gonna bring the humans to life 😂

I loved the monster action and actually being able to live in Hollow Earth with Kong for some time. The monster fights felt like tag team wrestling which was awesome. I liked how Scar King was smaller and leaner, yet faster and agile. He gave me Kid Buu vibes with his smirks and fight stance🤣. BUT, the pacing felt kinda off because it takes a while to get to Scar King, Shimu, and Godzilla and Kong actually teaming up. And yes, the humans are just exposition machines. And Godzilla kinda felt like a glorified cameo. I would’ve like to see more of them together and them getting to Scar King quicker. Godzilla vs. Kong was more balanced with showing Kong and Godzilla equally and was better paced.

Clearly your not into the mythology. But the IWI culture was always sprinkled through out these movies since Skull Island. And the fact that she explains the history behind these titans was always interesting.

Fun Fact about Mothra John, she's widely loved because people found her cute. And she also has the moat appearances aside from Godzilla himself. She also has the most victories over Godzilla.

When I first saw the trailer to this movie, I knew this movie was going to be over the top Titan sized silliness, and boy did it deliver. It was so dumb, obnoxiously silly, and so much "WTF??" and I was there for it. I had an absolute blast with it. Hey T-Mobile. you should hire Godzilla as your new spokesperson.

Fantastic movie. When it comes to the Monsterverse all I want is gargantuan creatures kicking the living hell out of each other. This is what I got. Humans… pfffttt, leave that element to Toho who do it way better. This is by far my favourite movie of the year. That could change tomorrow night with a secret screening event I’m going too at my local theatre. Don’t know what it is until the credits start rolling. If that fails, still got 9mths to find another better one. All in all, I was smiling from ear to ear leaving GxK. It was great. This was Kongs King of The Monsters movie.

Movies are a visual medium. I think we have to accept movies that have stories about beings that are not human. I think it's cool when there's non-verbal scenes where you still understand what's happening.

One of the vastly underrated aspects in hindsight, is that they depicted the great ape society really well with no dialogue. We don't really get the why of things are the way they are, but the fact that we got all these scenes with no dialogue and you pretty much understand. The most character development was baby Kong Zuko going from being 100% Skar king subject to Kong apprentice.

It was better than the snooze fest that was Godzilla vs Kong at least. I thought it was fine… took too long for Godzilla and Kong to team up and I got a bit bored in the middle but the fights made up for it. The characters were better than last time aswell and I almost started thinking that Rebecca Hall should have had more screen time… I didn’t really care tho

Mothra is the MVP of this flick. 'Zilla would have straight up murdered Kong. Again. If it wasn't for her. I enjoyed the movie. As a Godzilla fan I wasnt miffed one bit about the big guy taking a bit of a back seat. Dude is so OP in this series that it makes sense. I mean he killed two Titans before even getting to Kong. And then when he got to Kong did not give a s*it about his problem. Kong was like "Look, we gotta go there! In the space hole to face a threat!" Listen if you’re expecting art, you’re sadly mistaken. This is just a dumb fun movie. I did not like it but I see why others do. But to me that was not how I want Godzilla and King Kong to be portrayed on screen

As someone that holds Godzilla near and dear to the heart this movie really disappointed me. Godzilla Minus One was a masterpiece. The lack of any passable story takes any significance out of the monster fights.

The problem is it takes about a hour and a half to get to what you want. Until then it's them fighting randoms for a minute at a time. They did not deliver imo.

As someone who actively avoids most trailers nowadays as I prefer to not be spoiled by what's visually in a movie and instead go off of a simple system of hearing multiple people describe a film and/or their reaction to a film to decide if I want to see it, I've gotta say that seeing trailers in a movie theater before watching a film actually feels like time-traveling back to like the 90s where your first exposure to some upcoming films IS in the movie theater while waiting to see another film and the trailers just hit WAY STRONGER when you see them on the big screen and certainly hypes me up more for films than with my first experience of a trailer being watching it on my phone or tablet or MAYBE on my computer monitor.

*Team* *Godzilla* *or* *Team* *Kong?* Hmm.. 🤔 That’s a tricky one for me to answer. I grew up loving both since I saw King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) on TV back in 1987-1988 when I was about 7. Now I think Godzilla is cooler. He’s really a kaiju that Kong wasn’t intended to be back in 1933. The original King Kong stood at 25-30 feet. OG Godzilla ‘54 or Minus One G23 at 164 feet would just step on Kong to kill him if he stood at 25-30 feet like he did in 1933 and 2005. If let’s say I’m a toy collector, I would pick Godzilla. He’s the more interesting creature to collect toys of. And I know a lot of guys when they were younger enjoyed dinosaurs when they were little kids, so Godzilla is like the ultimate dinosaur to them. He’s this atomic-breathing dragon with Jaws-like dorsal plates. However, I did grow up watching more Kong movies as a kid as it’s catered more to American audiences. I saw the 1976 and 1986 movies of him as a child. King Kong Lives actually made me cry at the end as a kid. I saw the 2005 movie in the theater. I frequented Universal Studios Hollywood many times and would see Kong every time I took the tram tour. I would see a Kong sign at the CityWalk. It’s tough for me to choose. Can I just say I’m on both teams or I’m neutral? I did order hats from Redbubble which says Team Godzilla and Team Kong which both arrived on the same day. I’ll wear a Godzilla shirt with a Team Kong hat. Or I’ll wear a Kong shirt with a Team Godzilla hat. I have their 2021 figures standing next to each other on top of a shelf in my room. If you put a gun on my head and I had to choose only one, then it’s probably Kong. He does have the better personality. He’s a nice guy. He didn’t want to see those other apes enslaved and getting beaten. He also can connect with a human girl. If both existed in real life, I would rather have Kong protecting me than Godzilla. I think you could at least rationalize with Kong. While Godzilla could go berserk and kill every living person in the world. I thought when Godzilla charged at Kong in Egypt, it was a dick move by him. Kong wasn’t looking to fight and where’s Godzilla’s gratitude after Kong saved Godzilla’s life against Mechagodzilla from 4 years earlier as GvK was set in 2024 and GxK is set in 2028? But I did grin when Godzilla performed a suplex on Kong. That was fun. And I did enjoy Kong using Suko as a weapon. It’s the campy and super cheesy Showa era done in modern times. It’s pretty obvious Godzilla would destroy Kong in a straight up fight but that doesn’t mean I enjoy Godzilla more as an actual *character* with multiple layers to his personality. It’s like Batman v Superman. I’m a Batman fan all the way. But I know he has no shot at beating Superman unless he had Kryptonite gas as seen in the 2016 movie. If Superman wanted to kill Batman, he would use his red lasers and Bruce would instantly be dead. Even in the good Godzilla movies from ‘54 or -1, what complex personality did Godzilla ever have? Yeah, it’s probably Team Kong for me or at least during the last two MonsterVerse movies. But I do prefer Godzilla slightly more overall since I’m one of those guys who grew up loving dinosaurs as a kid. Now if I had to choose between watching let’s say Godzilla Minus One or King Kong (2005)? I would choose KK05. That Peter Jackson movie might be over 3-hours but it’s highly rewatchable. Good thing I like both Godzilla and Kong, so I don’t really care. It’s like flipping a coin. I’m not a one-sided, one-dimensional fanboy. Enjoy them all. I enjoyed Sega and Nintendo when they went at it in the 90s. I’m also a big fan of Mechagodzilla and he’s kicked Godzilla’s ass several times in previous movies.
