Exploring the Waldhof am Bogensee - also known as "Villa Bogensee" - Goebbels luxurious retreat in Wandlitz north of Berlin. Built in 1939, Goebbels created a villa for himself inspired by Hitlers Berghof in Obersalzberg. After the end of WWII it was briefly used by the Soviets as a field hospital, and was then given back to the socialist "Free German Youth" who turned it into a school.
The Villa Bogensee became part of the elite socialist Youth College (Jugendhochschule Wilhelm Pieck. Zentralschule der F.D.J.) in 1951. After the school was expanded in the early 1980s, the Villa Bogensee was turned into a restaurant and bar. After german reunification it was closed, and its owner - the state of Berlin - has been looking unsuccessfully to sell/rent the property. It's been left locked up and virtually abandoned ever since.
