I think narratively its pretty clear what Super is doing, its giving Gohan a taste of the simple life he always wanted while showing him all the damage that comes to his world and friends that he could have the power to stop so that eventually he realizes he has a responsibility to stop it. Gohan is the Spider man of DBS
It also doesn’t matter because he still doesn’t go back to training until the last minute hence why he has to train against Piccolo in a day so he can fight his dad and thus the tournament

And after hearing this, Gohan did went for training. Remember when Trunks was leaving earth at the end of this arc and Gohan came flying with Piccolo and waved to Trunks' Time machine. Gohan was out of breath and wasn't wearing his glasses because he was training with Piccolo
Trunks is probably the strongest in the series. All the hell he lived through...barely any good points in his life...and he can still smile and be happy for others.
@@Kromwell_M Who calls him a shit character? If someone asked me, I'd have to say my top faves are 18, Vegeta, King Kai, 17, Krillin. It'd take me a bit to think about Future Trunks. But if someone asked me who one of the best characters in DB are? Without a doubt Trunks is top 3.
It's a pity Future Trunks & Mai couldn't have just chosen to live in the "main" timeline. Might even have made for a more interesting Tournament of Power with Trunks replacing Tien on the team....and also allowing some "interplay" between Future Trunks & Frieza, considering the fact that....well, Future Trunks was the one who *killed* Frieza in the first place!
@@baldesion it's cus he kinda randomly got a boost in power that makes him stronger than Goku and Vegeta and also somehow used basically the spirit bomb and also (altho this one I believe is explained in the manga) zamasu just randomly loses his immortality causeing him to kill him (kinda)
@@allgerfan its because zamasu fused that he lost his immortality. He still had it, but it was imperfect so long as he stays fused, also the anime and manga had different endings to the arc, and i much prefer the manga version

Imagine if the old Gohan was in this saga and he realised trunks needed his help. He would've destroyed zamasu if he kept training and he would have an awesome moment with trunks !

@@Omar-io7xj Ummm I said if he kept training after Z. He was miles ahead of everyone in power and closer to God power. Maybe he won't have much effect on them seperately but merged zamasu was half mortal. So he could stand a chance with the help of Goku and Vegeta.
@@melwinchacko6515 If you see how gohan is throughout the series in the Cell Games And Majin Buu Saga he was the strongest and then 2nd strongest Singluar fighter in those Arcs i personally believe that if he kept training he would've been the 2nd SSG behind goku since his potential was much higher then Goku and Vegeta. There wouldnt been a merged Zamasu if he continued, It would've been a 4 vs 2 they would've taken out Goku Black permenantly and by this time Gohan would've at least be SSB. Honestly I blame Chi-Chi for this she wanted Gohan to be more of the scholary type in a universe that have entites that can end it any moment with him being one of the few to have a fighting chance to stop it, i really dont understand how she dont see the problem with that after going through end of the world scenarios in the Cell Games and Majin Buu catastophe.
@@azazel166 ultimate gohan was able to be on par with a fully perfected super saiyan blue Goku from just training for months after years of neglecting fighting so gohan with the same amount of zenkai boost as black would absolutely clap goku black
It would’ve been so much better if Gohan and trunks took them out together, since he finally gets to see his mentor again. Gohan at this point in super is the same age as future Gohan too
Dbs is the goku and vegeta show so it doesn’t matter how much gohan trains nowadays, the writers took away gohans spot as main character, so that no matter how much he trains, goku and vegeta will be stronger😔
@@jufu925 gohan trained his way back to his Mystic form. He just don’t have the time and the commitment Goku and Vegeta has to train. He can’t train for months at Beerus’ place to become a SSG.

Won't be the last time he felt like shit quiting Martial arts. Then again, Gohan was never a fighter. You can have all the potential in the world, but if your not motivated, it doesn't mean much. Not unlike Goku who looks at fighting in the same way a child addicted to his favorite video game does.
True. Gohan just wants to live a normal life, and I honestly can't blame him. He didn't have a childhood at all, and he experienced watching his friends and father die before age 5. I don't think Gohan would have wanted to freeload off of Hercule's wealth while he kept training martial arts lol
When he went with Goku in the time chamber he was training with all his heart but ig he is too nice to get angry so he was like “I would rather be a student than get angry and hurt people”
The fact that Trunks returned at all should've been enough for Gohan to pause for thought when he visited him. To me, that's where Gohan disappoints, not the lack of training.
that must have been a kick in the face for gohan an old friend comes looking for help and deems him too weak so he politely hides the fact that he's in trouble so gohan wouldn't get involved real swell of trunks to think of gohan and his family first but still I can see why gohan would be upset with himself
It’s truly a great scene in the anime and it gave Gohan motivation to train once again. The manga completely wrote off this moment and turned it into a bonus chapter gag.
With the way Gohan’s training went with Piccolo, and through this clip, it sense why he would take a semi-leading role in the newest movie. He’s steadily catching up to his father, with assistance from Piccolo who knows him inside and out.

Chi-Chi is just a huge disappointment every time she gets screen time anymore. They could have actually made a serious moment here with her seeing that even though Goku is a battle hungry monkey that he still cares about her just as much now as he always has. For us older fans we know Goku loves Chi-Chi but taking a moment to show the new generation how important she really is to him and having her realize that fact would have been a lot more interesting to watch and given more insight into their off-screen relationship than “Goten are you okay!? I don’t see any scratches or a halo on you” after she heard this happened IN THE FUTURE.
The moment Chi Chi became the stereotypical tough asian mother on Gohan i lost nearly all respect for her but she still had a rare moment. In Super her character is totally unredeemable. I cant stand her

This implies by the look of disappointment Gohan had on his face if he wasn't so powerless he could of actually help Trunks like how Trunks help him, his dad & friends out from preventing an apocalyptic future where everyone basically dies & days of peace were gone. If Present Day Gohan would of went to the future with Trunks, Goku & Vegeta during this arc he would of knew why it's important to train because days of peace could be gone anyday & any moment. Also the interaction he would of had with Future Yajirobe to learn about his Future self would of been a key point to motivate him to train.

What if it was goten who snapped and killed his mom in blind rage. Goku senses his wife dying and came home to find her corpse lying on the ground and her blood on goten’s hands. Goku disowned goten causing him to run away from the saiyan who was raised on earth.
If Gohan had known Future Trunks real reason for coming back to the present from the beginning, he would have put aside his books and put on his battle gear and volunteered to come along with Goku and Vegeta to battle Black and Zamasu. He does not thrive on fighting like his father but when anyone threatens the safety of his love ones and home planet, the burning anger within him awakes. He was supposed to be stronger than Goku and Vegeta and both of them knows it but were disappointed that he spent too much time living the scholar’s life and did not train.
They keep having moments of Gohan realizing his dad Goku won’t be alive forever to protect the world and that he will need to step up and be the protector but they just keep throwing away the development like after this arc then even after the ToP cuz in the superhero movie he suggested they just let Goku and Vegeta handle it. Hopefully he doesn’t get lazy and throw his potential away again like the 3rd time even though the form was pretty unearned after what Goku and Vegeta gone through 😂
I was so disappointed that Gohan was weak when the Majin Buu saga started, but I mean… He got the ultimate power boost, not even as a super saiyan and he was able to keep up with Evil Buu.. no training for years and he was able to catch up to everyone in a blink of an eye… well, surpass them!😂👍🏻 Ps; Gohan was supposed to Kill Evil Buu, goku and vegeta were supposed to stay dead, Movie 12 with Fusion Reborn would have been canon, but the Demand to bring goku back to life was so big, that when they brought him back, Movie 12 did NOT make any sence anymore .
I am so disappointed gohan and trunks didn't have much interactions and gohan should've joined the last battle .I mean he is trunks friend and zamasu took his father's body and killed chichi and goten...trunks should've told gohan about the future version of himself too.

It's all good. Character development is important! It's how we can feel actual fictional characters feelings. It's crazy how you can relate to a cartoon and feel something from it. So to me it's more real then anything, and maybe that the point. My childhood was good and messed up, and it's from these shows and it's lessons that have made me into the man I am today or what I strive to be.
That is also something that infuriated me with Gohan after the Cell Saga, he completly stopped working out. I can understand that he´s focused more on his academics but ffs he knows about the Room of Spirit and Time. He could go in there for literally minutes a day to get a decent workout with either Piccolo, Goten or even Vegeta. But no instead we get the "Great Saiya Man" might be in the minority but i absolutly hate that gimmick.

I always wonder what if Gohan kept up his training and went with his father, Vegeta, and Future Trunks to the Future would things be different instead of relaying on Zeno to defeat Zamaus?
