Goku mentions this during the fight with Cell when he is justifying why Gohan is fighting. He’s been keeping up with grown men since he was 4 years old.
At 27 Goku had just turned super saiyan for the first time. Gohan at 27 has already had ss1, ss2, mystic, and now Beast transformation. He is a true prodigy.
Thanks to his hybrid genes. I love Gohan, but it's not like he's trained harder or is a more skilled/talented fighter than most of the other characters. He's just blessed with a crazy amount of raw power.

@@johnpaolosimangan9033 I've been reading and watching Dragon Ball for decades. Gohan is acknowledged as being the most powerful, as in, in terms of raw power and potential. He is most definitely not the most talented or skilled martial artist. A lot of characters who are far weaker than Gohan are actually better fighters, and I say this even though Gohan is my favourite character and I always want to see him take center stage.
Gohan was holding his own against some of the strongest fighters in the universe at an age when most kids are learning how to ride a bicycle. Also for perspective, Goku was 12 when he met Bulma and Dragon Ball started. By that age Gohan had already beaten Perfect Cell and achieved Super Saiyan 2.

One correction. It's a one year timeskip after defeating Frieza (in Kai and the manga). So Gohan is actually 9 (physically 10) in the Cell Saga. So we gotta subtract 1 year from his age after all that.
No bro time doesn’t work like that. He aged a year in the chamber and that year counts. Just because he was in a separate realm than earth and time was faster there doesn’t make him a year younger when he exits the chamber. Example: if he spent 20 years in the chamber his mind and body and years of life and any wisdom gained there would still be with him when he left. He would still be 20 years older and only 20 days would have passed on earth.

I said the timeskip between the Namek Saga and Trunks appearing was actually one year instead of two (cuz of a dubbing error) so you have to subtract 1 year from his overall age because of that regardless if he aged in the time chamber or not. Hence why I said he's 9 chronologically on Earth if you don't count time chamber and 10 years old physically (if you include time chamber)

He won't necessarily be stronger. Gohan doesn't actually want to train or fight, and we actually see him get weaker at certain points in the story because he goes for years at a time without training at all. For example, at the start of the Buu saga, he's actually weaker as an 18 year old than he was at 11! At the start of Super, he's also weaker in his 20s than he was in his teens.
Gohan is built different. The average human males prime is 26 - 32. But due to is Saiyan DNA probably wayyyy past 32. He just started his prime and he already a Beast…. Literally

Eh the rules can change. In classic dragon ball Kami forcefully made the dragon balls usable again and in Z the timer was reset when Kami and Piccolo were revived. It’s all dependent on what the writers actually want to do

It's simple math. The 16 line doesn't make sense considering the previous statements about his age unless his birthday is later that year.

Post-Namek was only 1 year, not 2. This was confirmed by the manga referring to Gohan as being 8 years old in the Cell Arc (he turned 9 a few days before the Cell Games) and 16 during the Buu Saga which was 7 years later. He also didn't spend a full year in the chamber, so for example in the Buu Saga he'd only be 16½ physically (or maybe 17 depending on the months).
Math would have Gohan being at least 10 years old tho. He was 6 when Goku returned. 3 years later he's 9 years old when the androids come. so with the chamber he was either 10 or 11 if his birthday canonically happened before the Cell Games

He had his 9th birthday during the 10 day break before the Cell Games. And again he did not spend a full year in the time chamber, him and Goku came out early they only spent 6 months training. So Gohan is only 9½ biologically when he fought Cell.

Saiyan ages are kinda weird. I've kinda taken my own estimates of the Saiyans ages but I know there's a little more to it. After all according to ChiChis description of Fasha in I believe one of the Tenkaichi games, she says something about Saiyans not aging once they get to a certain point, however Saiyans like Paragus can still become old. It's all weird, like people say Goku and Vegeta are in their 40s, yet physically they look to be in their 20s or 30s

A year went by between namek and Trunk's arrival (It took 130 for nameks shenron to be summoned again and another 130 days for Tenshinhan, Chaozu and move back to namek) 3 years to prepare for androids so Gohan is 9 there and spends less than a year in the time chamber. 7 years later as stated in the manga Gohan is 16, simple maths.

He was literally the definition of a Hybrid Saiyan & they're known to have potential but Chi Chi's parenting held him back that he had to go ULTIMATE GOHAN to unlock his full POTENTIAL. He is the strongest Hybrid and I love it *d Wade voice*
