Today I’m going on a bike ride with my good friend Gogo we went to a different location where I grew up. One place is a famous castle. Burg Linn , then I went back memory lane where my grandparents used to live and where I started my apprenticeship as an electronic electrician. 40 years later unbelievable it’s still there at the end of the video we watch a handball game. All three of Gogo’s sons are playing in the same team. I tried to re-create some moves, and I almost broke my leg.

When I visit my hometown in Europe it’s sometimes emotional. On the other side I am always grateful to come back to the United States. I have not talked about it on my channel but maybe I should.

Gogo's on the right track... LET'S BE ACTIVE! Until 3 days ago, all of my bikes were 1972 or older. I ride my 1972 Peugeot 10-speed 4 times a week for an average of 35 miles per ride and I destroy all these smart-asses challenging me on their e-bikes. And I'm 60! What a perfect name for him "Gogo" GO! GO! Such a positive Man!

Love walking down memory lane! I like your germany videos better than LA. I moved so many x I dont really have any childhood memories except spending most of my childhoid in Pasadena. It was so nice back in the 60s/70s. I remember the donut guy coming to our street in a nice wooden van. I would get a bakers dozen of orange glazed donuts. Sweet memories.

You were lucky to have grown up there in the 60s. I moved around the Midwest & froze. Finally got to SoCal in 75 for Marine training at Camp Pendleton then ten yrs later stayed out by Venice for a yr. Great memories!!

I left Germany in the 80s and also did the whole coming back thing. Looking at my old houses, where I hung out, but it all seemed too distant, not real anymore. Like a dream long ago. But I guess its different when your family and friends are still there

I also left Germany to Asia in the 80th and it's like you say. Going back as a retiree doesn't make any sense because the weather and high cost would decrease the standard of living... It's good to see it via RU-vid and I am enjoying it....😊

My dad was Army and we lived in Germany a few times. I also worked for the military in Germany for a while. I lived in Kaiserslautern, Ludwigsburg, Bremerhaven, Schwabach, Fürth and Schweinfurt…… Had a blast living there!!

We all have those “memory lanes”. It’s great you showed us this. Your past history. When you were younger. Great to see those old photos too. You had to leave there to begin your own life. A different path. I did the same thing. Leaving my hometown for Los Angeles. Glad I did. Even though I missed my parents. You have to follow your heart. Try it. Go for it. 👍

I like these videos GIV. I was thinking about how you said you wanted to interview Arnold, and your interviews with random ppl in L.A and thought...why not interview your mom? Like a longform interview. Use that GIV journalistic power of yours to get your mom's story. From being born in post-war Germany, seeing how the shadow of what happened influence the generations before her to unification, her individual journey...it'd be fascinating. Even if you don't post it, you'd probably like having it for yourself.

Mike, I LOVE it when you go down memory lane SO MUCH. It reminds me of when my husband used to take me around his old "stomping grounds" when we were young. I used to live for those days. Great video. I loved seeing all the places around the towns. At the end of my uncle's street in the Eller section of Dusseldorf there was a little covered stand that sold some very basic groceries and snacks. I loved the BBQ potato chips they sold there and of course the Kinder candy.
