I feel the same way I've been saying that for some years now put the direction that these modern day games are going.. I got my Ps2, my PS3 all of my old consoles. I will be okay if I never play a new game again.. I'd rather play a fun game and then have a game that preaches all kinds of messages
Wow. . . I also feel the same thing, now it's more fun to play old and indie games, I'm fed up with modern AAA games, It seems like it's more fun playing modern games on the Switch
You still get whole games on disk unless it's over 90 gb.... blue ray can only hold 70 to 80 gb I can't remember. I buy physical all the time and while game is on disk
Couldn't agree more. PS3-360 were both amazing. They were my military consoles. Many hours spent in the barracks playing this or that with all my homies. Good times.
I'm with you. Going back to games that were made purely for fun and escaping reality. We gotta hunker down and stop buying modern garbage or it will never change.
the Great thing about older games at this point is that there is NO WOKE BS, It's about escaping reality and playing a good game! The PS3 & Xbox360 were both a powerhouse for Awesome Gaming experiences! I have also been going back and playing everything I can on my Vita, enjoying old PSP & PS1 Classics! Emulation via the Anbernic RG353V has also made me love Gaming in the Modern Day! Everything from GameBoy, to DS to Saturn & PS1 with some Dreamcast mixed in! I absolutely Love this thing!! I'm about to Platinum Fallout3 for my PS3 as I just got it in the Mail the other day! Already completed it on my 360 & it and Vegas are some of the best Immersive open World Action RPG PG type games out there, totally worth playing! The Witcher3 is one of my Favorite games of all time and is the only newer game that I play, & play quite regularly! I love everything about it, especially the little side game built within it, called Gwent!! No Woke Checkboxes- No BS Agenda, NO GAY STUFF CONSTANTLY BEING FORCED UP YO....Down your throat!!! Just Fun, Immersive Gameplay! In fact the are a lot of games going up to 2015 that I Love! Mad Max? Anyone? Murdered Soul Suspect? Batman Trilogy? Mafia2?, Vampyr? Mutant Year Zero? and a lot more that are simply about being a great game?! NO BS-
Yes!!!!, absolutely 💯, escape, no preaching, all this crap that thier now, is so freaking old, I see a movie that I want to see. I'm hoping there's nothing shove in it,, your so right. Older games have none of that !!!
This current gen of video games has a huge problem. The games!!! They are not interesting! Video games now are at the best they have ever looked graphically, however they are the most shallow, dull, and monotonous that they have ever been. I have been a huge gamer since my parents got me a N64 for Christmas. Do not have a PS5/Series X yet but I have no desire play any of the games except maybe Final Fantasy VII, Stellar Blade, and Silent Hill Remake, but those are all driven on my nostalgia for the originals. My backlog is so huge that I rather just play that instead of wasting money on a system I will not use. Playing Fallout 3 for the second time in 14 years and it is amazing. The PS2 is the GOAT and i consider the Xbox 360 the PS2 part II. It has a huge library of amazing games!
Yea, I agree with you, I was late to the PS2, but the PS2 is deep in games , I started out on the PS3, it was my first system , then the Xbox 360, Gears of War, that first game was awesome.
no 90s till earlie 2000s were after that it went downhill micro shit scams they still practice today and half assed relesses buggy games then they ask for above so you dont get a full game with content...plus the woke marxist facist agenda they preaching lately to ruin gaming
It took this guy to make u dust off your ps3? 😂 dude! I been playing my older consoles. The last good generation was the 360 era. Why u think the retro generation is booming lol?
@F15HA82 climb out from under your rock and look around, and you'll see that it is. That's why the indie scene which mostly model their games off old snes, ps1 tittles are doing better than triple A games , smh.
Recently hooked up my PS1,PS2 and 3 in my entertainment stand.. game developers of those generations were proud of their work and made games for the love of it. Now it’s all about money. Buy this and buy that while we update it every week
the main issue is that lots of great PS3 games never got remastered or ported for the ps4 and now ps5, i had to buy another ps3 because i am such a huge fan of the ratchet and clanks games form the ps3 killzone 3 and a lot of other games.
Sony needs to stop being lame about backwards compatibility. The things PS3 and Vita could play compared to PS4 and PS5 is pathetic. Some people used to give them a pass, because "ohhh even for PS5 emulating PS3 is just too hard!", but I think even those people know that's nonsense now.
Are u talking about the ps4 era? That was the beginning of where games started to fall off. So that era wasn't unique. The 360/wii/ps3 era was the last great generation.
@@redcrimson1028 No, I said IT was the last generation to have unique console architecture, are you trolling or just that stoop1d? Everyone else understood that comment just fine, think about that genius.
Yeah, Vanquish is the best 3rd person shooter game I’ve ever played & I’m a big Gears of War fan but Vanquish was on a different level. That was ‘Platinum Games’ in their prime, just like with Bayonetta & Metal Gear Rising:Revengance, which were another 2 of Platinum’s top tier games of the 360/PS3 era. I don’t know how they play on PS3 though. I know Bayonetta on PS3 didn’t run very well compared too the 360 version, so much so that IGN had to do 2 separate reviews of that same game for each console because their was such a big difference in quality.
I agree with this sooo much!! If you do an internet search of gamers going from modern gaming to consoles like PS3, 360 and older, you’ll find the movement is pretty big. Of course it’s for various reasons, some being that games take too long to make nowadays, the gameplay is stale and boring, lack of variety, incomplete games, etc.
Man resistance 2 man that brings me back to the good old days. I remember when I beat that game I was standing in the living room and Nathan died I ran to your room shocked and mad my favorite character was gone. Ahh the good ole days!
I'm still laughing at you the new stuff is better loads faster and has a better controller you can play a better version of most of that stuff and the stuff you can't is because it was just mid and did not sell take off your nostagia glasses and get a better job so you can afford the better stuff!
Sweet Baby Inc. (infamous woke LGBTQ+ BS company) was involved with the new Spider-Man game, as well as God of War Ragnarök. Maybe that's why you can't get into them.
I probably played less than 100 hours total on my PS4. It's the least played console I've ever owned. I have yet to purchase a PS5, and I doubt I ever will. All the good PS5 exclusives eventually come to PC. So no point buying a PS5.
I still play my PS3 and I'm glad I got into buying for it 5-6 years ago. I also have Folklore but I haven't played it yet either. I'm excited to try it but there's just so many games to get through. All in good time, I suppose.
2 recommendations for racing motorstorm apocalypse and split/second. Both very similar as for racing in environments of absolute chaos going on. Both games stuck on that gen.
Alice Madness Returns is one of the best platformers ever imho. Arkham Asylum, City, and Origins were all great. City is the best imho. You got some great games. And yes also no preaching in those games :)
I'm starting to collect for PS3 . Games were better back then. Every generation games take longer to make so there aren't as many games on new systems. PS2 had a crazy amount. I like my PS5 but there are only a few AAA titles. I said awhile ago a crash is coming and here we are.
Played through The Bourne Conspiracy on PS3 the other week and absolutely loved it That game was way ahead of its time and perfectly captured the spirit ,and action of the Bourne films, fantastic No trophys though but i couldn't care less about trophies
Ps3 is pretty much where I stopped. Took 4 years to get a PS4 and Horizon Zero Down was my last fave game. I went back to Switch and Metroid Prime Remastered. GameCube even. PS3 has the best collections ever!
Playing PS3 games on current Gaming computers with the emulator with improved Textures, frame rate and resolution is AWESOME. The new games aren't bad either. It all Depends on what you like to play.
The fact you have a literal PC and still feel the need to play console games only proves PC isn't as good as you think it is and emulation is only a wanna be to the actual thing the legit native playing on hardware. Ifk what's this weird push for emulators. They decent, nothing on console. It's like wifi to ethernet cable. It's nice,it works, it's decent, it's NOTHING to ethernet cable and doesn't compare. It's a wanna be of what ether is. The same with emulations. Plus they arnt plug and play. Consoles are.
@@Rocky13Ray - My point is that the old Consoles will eventually die out and disappear. Emulation preserves and support the OLD games in ways that old hardware can't. No console will ever outdo a PC. The Grafx fidelity that a PC can do is leaps and bounds above any console. I play consoles because it's my preference, not because it's better. It's not better than a PC. The console does have certain features that the current PC don't have, but that will change very soon. The Console/PC/AI Hybrid that Microsoft has coming will be a BIG step in that direction.
@Jagosix still will always be 2nd tear and it's weird how hard PC pple push it . I had a gaming PC and it isn't what pple hype it up to be, and you're still trying to be a console with emulation. We have preservation, and emulation will always be 2nd tear forever and always. Console is plug and play at the end of the day, nor having to delay with finicky emulators as well as input lag.
@Jagosix it's honestly weird how hard pple push emulation like you couldn't just buy a console cheap and play it like it's MEANT to be and how it was made. Pushing a 2nd tear expirence is nonsense. Emulation will always be 2nd tear ,not the go to. Preservation has nothing to do it it and is separate. Preserving the game is different from emulating it and even then on emulation its 2nd best. Better off priating a copy to disc or carterage and playing it on hardware. All the consoles you can emulate you can mod anways.
Yea, I like my PS4, but not near as much as the PS3. The older systems were far superior in games. They were just games to play, and so much fun, or entertaining or immersed
I still love to occasionally play games from the 360/Ps3 era. We still get amazing modern games like Helldivers 2 & Returnal, but the 360/Ps3 era was a major golden age for atleast MP.
I was very surprised to see somebody basically voicing all the thoughts I've been having in my head lately. Thank you for this video. I've been playing a lot of PS2 games lately. Really regret selling my PS3 back in the day. Subscribed to your channel :)
Just subbed. Great selection of PS3 games man. I got a lot of those ones. Love Resistance and Motorsport! If you got move controllers (PS4 moves also work on PS3) there are some fun move games on PS3. Dead Space Extraction is really good. House of the Dead games are fantastic too if you have moves, especially House of the Dead - Overkill. That is one crazy fun game - the humour had me in tears!
I'm currently playing the Batman trilogy on PS5 Batman Arkham Asylum very good but when I started playing btman arkham city this game is rocked ,epic ,dark (I bought it in the boxed version)
You’re not the first I’ve seen write this comment. Some have said the PS4 was their last. I had a PS5 and Xbox Series X but sold them both because it just wasn’t doing it for me anymore. The magic has left in this modern era. There’s no originality, no variety, everything is remasters/remakes nowadays. It’s no wonder I’m seeing more and more people going back to older games.
@@Kingleo_31there always comes a point where companies devolve into rehashing and remastering. It happens with movies and it happens with games. But if you go a bit under the surface level bs, there are a lot of gems out there
I don't mind the "Hollywood" route but the direction HOWEVER..... But 2 months ago I strictly been playing the PS3. My backlog is crazy and ya know this backlog will keep me entertained for a very long time. And ya know PS3….. you, for the most part, can play the disc offline without a patch and have a fun experience. I highly recommend NEIR. It's a jrpg has a slow start but boy oh boy does it take off 9/10
@@XSquidbeatsX I'm not disagreeing with that. First horizon, days gone, and God of war reboot were amazing for what they were. I hear last of us is incredible and it's on my backlog. I'd argue those 3 games didn't go "full Hollywood" but yeah they are going full Hollywood now
The consumers gonna do what the consumers gonna do🤷♂️ if you’re not into what they’re doing, it’s completely your right not to support it. Honestly I’m getting there too.
Man I def. vibe with what you're saying. Def. earned you a new sub! Keep on enjoying your hobby and enjoying life! i know exactly what you mean about the whole trying to make everything point to some agenda or message. Everything doesn't have to have that crammed down our throats. We play video games to relax, enjoy ourselves, and escape. The last place we want all these messages shoved down our throats is our entertainment. Some people don't think it's a big deal but it's slowly getting people used to it, and desensitized. There are so many games, and amazing content out already you could have fun probably for the rest of your life no problem tbh. Indie Devs as well are making good games without hidden messages so that's a good place to browse as well in general.
I agree with you 💯%. I've gone back to previous generations like like OG Xbox and 360 games. No messages, no box's, just fun that's it. And no internet required, just plug and play, talk about convenience
You couldn’t have said it more better my brother I’m getting a custom arcade made where I can play as many PS2 and PS3 games from older consoles even Nintendo games all in one arcade cabinet
I agree with you about voting with your wallet. But the reason people are mad about the Tomb Raider remastered collection is because they did a bait and switched on the fans. It was originally released as a 1 to 1 from its original counterpart. But then they released an update that deleted pin ups of Lara croft in the locker room in TR3. So it's no longer a 1 to 1 anymore. The developers now have the power to censor anything in the form of an update patch. A real problem of the digital age.
Jericho was fun, vanquish is fun enjoyed the sliding in the game, brutal legend is fun first 2 dragon age games, battlefield bad company, the darkness games, split second, the first last of us, Batman Arkham asylum and city are fun, the fable games and the first three gears of war games are great...there are so many fun games
@@Classical474 bro I found a old ps3 system old school big fat ps3 one a wild back that still works a lil dusty tho and I also found a duel shock 3 in really good condition outta nowhere when moving jus needa get myself a tv
I'm getting a steam deck to play all of the old games I missed. That and I'm focusing on AA and indie games. I'm mad about Tomb Raider being changed because I loved the classic Tomb Raider games (especially The Last Revelation, really hope it gets a remaster.)
Wise words Vic, & those games are some of the best ever made & they still look good. I think the PS3/360 generation was the pinnacle of gaming. Like you said gaming is trying to be hollyweird & its ruining the industry.
I feel like that. To date I don't think Capcom have beat Resident Evil 1 remake. The new Street Fighter games haven't beat Alpha 3 or Third Strike either
I am a PC gamer only, but I grew up during the 2000's and early 2010's, I'm also mostly playing games from those years. Unfortunately we don't get physical copies for PC games anymore, we stopped getting proper physical copies since around 2010, but piracy is also easy when digital becomes an issue.
It's refreshing to see a PC player who isn't waving their rig's power around and trying to sell us console guys on getting a PC. I respect that man, especially on the internet. I play on PlayStation and Xbox only. I still prefer games from the early 2000's and 2010's. Those were the best times to play games.
I feel you my brutha from another mutha 😂 The ps4 was the last console i bought period! Thats why i bought a mini-pc and went retrogaming all the way! Enjoying the times when games were pure fun without any LGBT bullshit, dlc and microtransactions🎉🎉🎉!
I hve been in the same path as you for 9ver 6 months now.. started with a ps2, just cant get it to look good a modern tv ,but still played a lot of games since i also got a lot of burned dvd games for it ,since i dont own a crt and i thought.. ok ps3 has many ps2 games in hd as well as you can play ps2 games on a jailbreak ps3, so i just cleaned up my ps2 slim ,put it in a shelf for display and bought a slim ps3, and i am just having a blast mannn..doing all the best games up until 2014 is my aim now.. your video just reminded me of me itself when i just started thinking the same when my friends who got themselves a ps5 and discusses what game to buy and the list aint that exciting for me.
My ex got herself a Ps5 about a year ago. I wanted to buy her a psile for her birthday. I hardly found anything appealing in the shop, there was hardly any choice. I don't know of any console that had so few outstanding games, even at the beginning of its life cycle. And yet it's naturally great. Well, I've now got myself a ps2 and the ps1 is also coming this month. There are so many games for it. And they're new to me, because I only got the ps3.
I hear ya. I spent many hours on my PS3 and it's such a good console I'm about to buy another one (my sister is borrowing mine haha) to work on my backlog of classic titles. I'm not an old guy but I personally could not bring myself to buy or play The Last of Us Part 2 for a variety of reasons including the "rainbow stuff" they incorporated fairly heavily into it. It's not for me and I don't need to constantly be reminded of it in every entertainment format I digest. I want to enjoy a good story, fun gameplay, and escape the messed up reality of the real world. Enjoyed the video!
Aaaah it was when my kids were playing and they took turns to play, then one day my middle son ask for resistance fall of Man, which I believe was a launch title, but it was when my friend Chuck was playing it, and I was interested, but it was the Uncharted series that pulled me in, most of my friends are much younger Me, they are the ones that open my eyes to alot of games out there.
Owning a physical copy is great. One gets the nice main poster at least. Buying online is a bit boring and they don't even sell them cheaper although they save decent money putting all those copies on shelf.
It's easier for me, PS5 is too expensive, have no idea when I'll be able to buy one. Abandoned my PS4 because of game prices, I play only on PC nowadays. Yesterday I was checking PS2 emulation, got my PS2 from the drawer, copied my savefile to a USB and played Burnout Revenge, wow, what a game! I just want to start a new profile and play it all over again now... if you're tired of the current gaming industry, or poor like me, going back to older games is a sure way to have A LOT of fun for cheap.
Have you played Wanted Dead sir? ) It's a blast from the past in a good way.I just can't get enough of that game. Pure action, zero walking sections. )
No, but I've seen it and looked at it, but I will try to see some clips of it on RU-vid now that you mentioned it, I've heard other people mention it though,, thanks for the info.
I have a libarary dating back to NES days. I buy less and less new games. I am also tired of political messages in my entertainment. I agree Nintendo even with a lot of games look great. cause they are stylized and are not trying to look photo realistic. Get an HDMI switcher, can keep them hooked up and swap inputs and have all your game systems hooked up to one input.
I bought my PS3 Slim in 2012 and I'm still gaming on it more than my PS4. I also Trophy Hunt as well on the PS3. Still have a few games until I move onto the PS4.
I plugged my PS3 last week. I was thinking about it for months. I have a PS5 and I love Stellar Blade, but everything else was feeling like work. So I went to PS3 and I lost half a day playing all my old games. The gap between the PS3 and PS5 is not even that far and wide. It’s just that the games don’t have GAME.
Here's what is hilarious.... I have the Series X, i have the PS5. I also have a gaming PC which i am playing on a lot, worth well over £1,000. Yet what am i playing on it? All older games on Steam and GOG. Broken Sword, Phantasmagoria, Police Quest, Monkey Island, Star Trek 25th Anniversary... I mean i have played Tarkov, the new Arena Breakout and Gray Zone Warfare and yeah, they are newer games and look/run amazing on my PC. But the fact i get REAL enjoyment from older games. Hell, on PS Plus, they just released G Police as the older title, and downloaded it.... Can't wait to play it. If Playstation, pulled their finger out and said right, here.... Medal Of Honour 1 and 2 Dino Crisis SOCOM US NAVY SEALS Mission Impossible Parasite Eve Just those older games alone being able to download and play in 2024, would be better than any new release.
I just put a stop on keeping up. PS5 is the last. I even bought a bunch of crt tvs. 2 for each era of console. Luigi's mansion was a blast and made think theres a whole back log of great games I could be playing. Im also not down with that other stuff being pushed into my area of entertainment.
I agree with you 100% on all you said. The only current gen system I have is a series x for its backwards compatibility and I'm content with it. I have retro clone consoles and been playing snes and genesis games. Ps2 was awesome!
I know the PS2 has vast catalog, my first system was the PS3, plus my 3 little boys were so excited when I purchased it ,they were there, plus we stopped at Family Video afterwards, got some games and went home and set it up, fund memories.
I've also been mostly playing ps2/ps3 era games recently, though I also picked up Forbidden West this month. I don't mind gay characters or anything like that. I'm just tired of modern games taking my $60/$70 and then asking for more money. Excessive DLC, microtransactions, battle passes. I don't wanna hear any of that. I give you money, you give me a complete game. If that's not the arrangement, I don't bother. I agree that Resistance, Killzone, and Infamous should be re-released with better fr and resolution.
I've been play PS2, PS3, Original Xbox games as of late. This is why backwards compatibility is crucial for game preservation. There's no excuse why we can't play our ps1 through ps5 games on the ps5. Same for Xbox, Xbox has been more productive with backwards compatibility but it's not perfect either. I understand where you're coming from though. Games today are as wide as an ocean but have the depth of a puddle. Older games had substance and worked at launch, haha.
I loved PS Vita and had some fun with PS4, but Sony has changed so much that I basically just play everything on PC and Steam Deck these days :/ The indie scene really is the one saving grace with how crappy the industry has gotten though. Even if you only play on Switch it wouldn't hurt to dig around on Steam. Valve does the best job actually helping you find lesser known games (plus offers forums and user reviews), but often they are on console, or eventually come to console too. You might be surprised what you find. (There's also things like Pathologic 2 and stuff that technically aren't indie, but you can immediately see how different they are from your standard big studio games.)
Killzone is great play you wont regret it. yes you are right about new games being unplayable. mostly multiplayer shooting and competitive .. no real progress of story.
