Glad to see the Captain back. Always nice to see the boss to manual work when the help watches you. The video's are more entertaining when the Captain is there.

My compliments on how effectively you use the time lapse in your videos. You show all the repetitive work that is required but allow it to speed on through. The second block on the second wall clearly shows a cold joint in the concrete that illustrates that they are made from left-over concrete.

This is the first video that I have watched that includes the semi- famous Capt. K, hearing the name before then found he was the recipient of the notorious 555 gifted from C&C. Up to date on that and here he is finally. Keep in mind that you have a voluminous backlog of videos mostly about an hour long, so I’m trying to catch up with years of DP. Like the guy! Fits in and the dialogue isn’t quite as toxic as it is with other employees. Like 👍

I like the large precast blocks far better than concrete block. It appears to be much stronger and probably more resistant to ground movement. Do they make capstones or do you have to pour it? BTW, don't worry about Kleeman's stomach. If he has been a fire fighter for over a year, his stomach has mutated to where it can pretty much process anything. Day old coffee, unidentifiable 2 week old refrigerator contents, etc.

I'd say that doing a job "just good enough" means having to do a lot of warranty work, and that creates one time customers, which will guarantee you're not going to have a successful business. I like it that you take pride in your work, which is difficult to find these days.
@deplorablelibertarian
@deplorablelibertarian 3 года назад
But there are times when everything doesn’t have to be perfect...sometimes it just has to work, or be good enough. But yeah, a retaining wall that is load bearing DOES have to be as close to accurate as possible.

I really like the big blocks as a retaining wall. It makes sense so the home owner is not having to replace every ten years or so. And you're right, the owner can come in and put whatever they choose to either cover them or leave it as is. I think I'd leave them as is, I like the bulk of them.

When. I pour retaining walls I like to pitch them into the high side by 1/4" per foot. If it's leaning it should lean into hill. That way if it moves it can settle back into place. If it is level it can my go one way, once it's past plumb it can't settle back into the hill. Take care from Canada where the frost pushes every wall.

Great result in the end, amazing how much they were out of square! Loved Captain Kleeman with the blower haha. It’s nice that you did not just stack the blocks and leave them leaning out! Nothing worse for your business than having to keep going back to fix it as the customer is not happy!. Word soon gets around that you have had to go back.! I don’t care what anyone says, I really like Captain Kleeman. He makes any video better be merely appearing in it. He’s a hard worker and the perfect foil for Dirt Perfect. I can just see Dirt Perfect telling the Captain he has a softball team but the players have funny names. Who is on first, What is on second and I Don’t Know is on third. The Captain takes it from there.

The shim fix worked well.. it leveled the wall and insured that whoever demo’s the wall will have discs for their washer toss game at home! Mikey, I like how you plan for the future!!! hey guys up here in Illinois they make the same blocks, and use them for material bunkers, gravel, mulch, ect. The also make nice ones for big projects, like retaining walls around bridges, walls in water for erosion control, and so on. they take alot more time on those all are flat and square, they also have a decorative face on one side, for a nice finished look. The only problem with those is they are 10 times the price. The bottom line is " you get what you pay for " Have a great day, I have to get myself a cold beverage I'm worn out from typing. keep up the great videos!!!!!!!!!!!!! '

Thanks for sharing your video. Great job. Reading the comments is almost as entertaining as watching you do the job. I can never understand people who are critical of a job on a video that was basically free entertainment for them. You sure have a great audience out there though who are beating you to the punch and striking down the criticism. I might not comment every time but it’s often because I’m not qualified to have an opinion or when I am qualified someone already beat me to it. Tree roots follow water especially on drain pipes that slightly leak. Working on a golf course you see it all. We ad one root grow all the way into the green by growing in the French drain. We couldn't figure out how or why the green wasn't draining so we sodded up the entire green and started working our way down two days later we had everything back to normal. On a irrigation pipe about 3 feet down a pine root split into a V than grew around the pipe until in suffocated and broke the pipe. Mother nature is crazy

Instead of checking for level, I believe in that case you should check for plumb.. If you want a straight wall.. If the blocks ore out plump & level.. To my mind's eye.. That would be the best course of action to take.. I by trade am a master carpenter, when building a wall I always first check plumb, then after that is done I address level, if it is needed.. I know that wall will be covered with stone or stucco, so being perfect don't really matter.. I have OCD, so perfection is never up for a debate when I did anything, LOL.. Sorry if I sounded a bit critical, it was not my intent.. When you are just watching something it is easier to see what the problems are.. I know being there doing it is a complete different animal... All an all I enjoyed it a lot and love to see people actually trying to correct mistakes other then trying to cover them up... On to the next one...
