Birdie Nook (a short scary story by Laurie Ann Pokin) In this spine-tingling short story, Birdie Nook, a big woman in an isolated life whose only happiness is T.V. and food, is haunted by a malevolent presence in her tiny, city apartment. Alone, Birdie must navigate a treacherous landscape of overeating and isolation, but her grip on reality weakens, plunging her into a nightmarish world where the line between the living and the thing in her apartment blurs.
Will Birdie Nook escape the clutches of darkness, or is she already just another victim of some malevolent curse?
"Birdie Nook" is a chilling tale that will leave readers haunted long after the final page is turned.:

Dear Aunt Catherine (a novel by Laurie Ann Pokin) In the mid-19th century, an impoverished girl runs away from her abusive home and travels alone to America to find her only remaining family; an estranged uncle. When she arrives at her uncle’s mansion, the alcoholic Master of the house, Master William, takes a dark interest in the naïve girl. After her uncle mysteriously dies, she becomes trapped in a life of servitude beneath her new Master’s rule, and must again fight for her freedom. Will the orphan fulfill her dreams of a better life in a new country, or will America be worse than Ireland?

"Dear Aunt Catherine by Laurie Ann Pokin follows the long journey of an orphan girl in her teens who flees from Ireland to America. Throughout her journey, from leaving home to arriving in Liverpool and finally crossing the Atlantic to America, she recounts the tales of her adventure to her aunt. Dear Aunt Catherine is a masterfully written book that envelops the reader's senses and draws them into the world described. I could so easily envision the time and place in this book due to the vivid descriptions.:

Nicely done, and thank you for sharing this. I think this can be immensely helpful for sighted folks who have little or no experience interacting with a blind person to get a better understanding and gain perspective of what it is to be blind. Covers the essentials, with a personal touch. Kudos for putting this together!
