You may notice some difference in handling with a sport bike that leans over more, but on a cruiser that doesn't lean over as far, there isn't much noticable difference at all. The cost and mileage alone is enough to keep me using Car tires. Traction is better and stopping is perfect.

Speedo should not change as most have the pickup on the front wheel. The other thing is, braking, doing a burnout, how does that compare. Perhaps find a deserted road, jump on the rear brake, let the ABS do it's thing and see how long it takes to stop. Then try it with the car tyre. I think it may surprise some people. Also how does it feel in the wet.

My older brother switched to a car tire on his Kawasaki Vulcan, 2000cc. First time I saw it he had around 5500 miles on it. Until he told me I honestly didn't notice, just drove to the parts store about 15 miles each way. He showed me how the edge of the tread had rounded over time. Said at first there was a definite "roll or bump" sensation when cornering. Over time it wears in and must be fairly smooth or I think I'd a noticed. I don't plan on dark siding my Vulcan 900 but I want to buy a Honda Goldwing and will run it dark side, possibly double dark side.

@@gcragg11 honestly I've heard a few guys talking about "getting a better ride and grip" and figured I'd try it out. Just a matter of try when my rear tire, still a Motorcycle tire, has some life left. That way I can give it a try. If I like it, cool and if not no problem just switch back. Quick addition, I forgot to mention the main reason I've heard this is worth it, supposedly a rear tire (drive tire) will outlast a front because they are designed to put the bikes torque on the road. Time will tell.

You've convinced me Bro. One thing I may add after driving a semi fir somewhere near 3mil miles.... STFO of the L lane ESPECIALLY when you're three digits or more in speed as when you get stopped, you and your beautiful machine will not pass go, will not collect 200.00 and with both get a free ride to jayol which will cost you a lot to rehab your collective freedom. The only times you should be in the L lane when not mandated is helping something safely merge or when there's something in the R lane you need in your rearview or the R lane is too rough to ride or your vision is impaired by being in the R lane and all should be temporary

Put a Arroyo grand 2. 205 50 17 on my Yamaha warrior . I checked the diameter against the Bridgestone and perilli I had on previously. That gives rotations per mile. Arroyo was fewer so uses less ram. Stock was 200 50 17. Didnt want to go bigger as that could cause clearance problems. Not on sides because I've got lots of clearance but didn't want to hit fender on bumps when shocks bottom out. If I could have I'd prefer a 225 50 17 for even fewer revs. Tire weighs only about 6. Or 7 pounds more than bike tire so on a cruiser it doesn't matter. Stops better handles almost the same as bike tire and after getting used to it no big deal. Some crappy bike tires handle worse. No worse than stock Bridgestone. I run 41 psi. Cushy ride and good on corners. 3 to 4 times the contact patch so brakes much better. It always bothered me at stop signs an lights because 2 inch patch would slide even with little brake applied especially in the wet. Just make sure to use the right tire. No squared off edges or really cheap tires because the rubber is cheap and doesn't grip. I read about Arroyo grand 2 and it was rated good on wet and dry. Good handling and few complaints. Even some expensive tires aren't good in rain etc. Long mileage usually have harder rubber and less traction. Same with bike tires. Read reviews like I did and go from there. I'm satisfied with the ride and after 4000 miles and a worn out perilli I'm looking forward to many miles

Yeah I did once on a VTX1800 I had back in 2003, because of a similar video I watched. took it right back off after a week. I used a Yokhama Advan track racing tire so as to have maximum grip. Yeah it has plenty of traction but you always feel like you're coming out of a rut when turning and while going straight the ruts will move you around way more on the freeway. If you don't feel any difference then you are not one with your bike. Road feel to me is very important. Car tires belong on cars and motorcycles need motorcycle tires...

The ignorance of how free markets work in a capitalist economy is astounding! The President has no influence over prices. Petroleum (gasoline) prices are set in free markets. Geopolitical forces, OPEC production limits (especially) in combination with other market forces determine prices. Did you know oil company profits have been at record levels for several years? How? Sorry but recommending this is totally insane. Car tire/wheel beads is totally different from M/C tire/wheel beads, car tires sidewalls are designed thinner. The motorcycle tires have a lot more weight, stiffer sidewalls and a bead actually designed for MC wheels. It's going to corner like an old Goodyear SpeedGrip in the sharp mountain curves...which is deadly IME..Try coming down the mountain in Cherokee at 60-75 mph and see if you still like it. .Fact: You're asking for trouble, especially if you ever experience a flat tire with that car tire. And if you have an accident, your insurance company is likely to deny your claim if they find out about the car tire on your bike. Good luck, you're going to need it.

Actually I was up that way a few weeks ago in the NC and TN mountains and it didn’t feel any different to me and for the past 12,000 miles it has seemed to work pretty good so I respectfully disagree but thank you for your post. Truth be told I was actually out running most all of my brothers with motorcycle tires both going up and down the mountain. Next time I will be sure to video that also

@@YogisCycleService But you cannot escape the fact that that car tires and wheel beads are totally different from motorcycle tire and wheel beads ..Please go to almost the very end of this video and see why it's not good .At least educate yourself on the subject. A man from Dunlop explains and shows the differences.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5dbKoavfmqU.html and it continues on the Part2 here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4EZYtAEuG04.html. At least have a look at them to see why it's actually not a good idea, for your own safety. Just trying to help . BTW, you're not very far from where I live at all. Liberty is just a hop and a skip away. I've been on the roads you show in your video.

@@fireball1322 Another assumption mechanic. Do you have experience? If so, what kind? If the bead holds air, all is fine. Never had a bike rim/ct combimation theat failed. Did you ever took a CT off from a bike rim? Well, that is a hard job. You even can run flat and the CT will stay in place. "At least educate yourself"... i don't need your keyboard theory, i am a daily biker/wrencher since the 70's, wondering if you can teach me something, but you can try...

@@corneilcorneil I worked for HD as a mechanic for @ 10 years at a dealership. Yes I changed tires on them too.. I still work on them at home. I have accumilated @ 100,000 miles riding on Harleys. I've changed car tires for several different tire stores for a few years long before that. I also was into muscle cars and owned a 69 Chevelle SS 396 on which I made engine mods and also fully restored. My question to you is have you ever looked at the differences between car wheel tire beads and those on H-D rims (as well as other motorcycle wheels? There is a reason why they are different..

@@fireball1322 Yes, there is a reason, but do you have darkside experience? Your family can work 4 generations for Dunlop, but that don't make somebody a daily rider with year off darkside experience. I follow every conversation and the answer is always the same: no experience, pure assumptions.

It's not clever to show the public it's ok to do a dangerous / illegal mod of fitting a car tyre to bike... Madness

I’d never do this on my goldwing, riding in straight line then turning for bend rider must feel the tyre balancing on the edge, scary,, proper scary.🤭

Dark side... yes it "works". There is no redundancy on the bead. In the corners you have to continuously countersteer so really the handling is shit. Also the number one problem is if (or when) you get into an accident and the insurance finds you were riding dark side. You are screwed. So if you want to put at risk your 40,000 + bike to save a little bit of money then go for it. Personally I will never put at risk my ride to save a small amount of money.

Wow do you ever not know what you are talking about! Nothing you said was true. Nothing. Perhaps you are just one of those that enjoys making a fool of himself. That's pretty obvious even.

I've heard that insurance companies are aware of darksiding and that in the case of an accident that happens with a car tire on a motorcycle they will deny any claims.
