Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files, Going Deeper Edition! Today we have a very exciting episode where we are joined by Nayte Olukoya of Bach Nation, where he tells all regarding his shocking breakup with Michelle Young. To kick things off, we dive into some pop culture topics, such as breaking down the controversy of “Spitgate” where it is alleged that Harry Styles spat on Chris Pine during the Venice Film Festival showing of the upcoming movie, Don’t Worry Darling. Was this just two friends messing around or is this something deeper? We also talk about the newest TikTok from Emily Ratajkowski joking that she prefers “ugly men” amid her split from her cheating husband Sebastian Bear-McClard, and we then dive into talking about the difference between hot ugly and ugly hot. After the pop culture, we get into our interview with Nayte, where he talks about the events that lead to the breakup, how they broke up over the phone, and how the pressures of social media affected their personal lives. We also talk about why Michelle blocked Nayte, how Nayte plans to heal, and how Nayte broke up with someone different from who he fell in love with. We get emotional while laying everything out, so tune in for this very special interview. After the interview, we bring in one of our Texting Office Hours callers, who needs help with her boyfriend that isn’t acting like someone with a label should.
“Breakups suck and you gotta do what you gotta do!”

I love how Nayte was able to articulate so much empathy for the pressure that Michelle has had to feel from being both the bachelorette and a sweet schoolteacher in the public eye, and acknowledge how he has not personally had to be under that level of pressure and scrutiny. That kind of empathy to still have for an ex, even after such a painful break up is so beautiful. ❤️

People who lack the ability to have empathy won't understand it. Nayte was more in love than Michelle, she appeared to be more infatuated with his looks and him as a person. They didn't get a chance to build a foundation. Playing her role in celebrity got in front of the relationship unfortunately. Pray the best for both. Nayte's challenge is to meet someone who really gets him, not just hung up on his beauty, his beautiful heart.

Idk. I personally bought into all this therapy works stuff. I went to very good therapists over 3 years and NOTHING changed. They didn’t help at all. So I no longer believe in therapy. Look, if people are decent people and they love each other, it will work. Please don’t believe in this “open communication” & “having the right tools” stuff. People do not change. I believe the reason we (as a society) are so into therapy & hear it everywhere is because people make A LOT of money from us going to therapy.

Never one who doubted Nayte, and glad to see him be able to take up some space with sharing his experience of things. He did it with gentleness, grace and as much honesty as he can, given the circumstances. Michelle is undoubtedly lovely and powerful, but I can also imagine it's not easy to have his experience seemingly "trumped" by or sullied in comparison to the one of a 'lead' as cherished as Michelle is. Clearly he could still only skim the surface of things, but I hope people can at the very least see glimpses of his authenticity and kind heart. When the time is right, I hope he finds a partner who he can feel playful, safe and loved with!

@@SupernaturalLove100 How did you arrive at that, from the podcast? I don't think he wasn't ready, it appears they were not compatible which lead to many misunderstandings and arguments and the best thing and healthiest thing was to break up. The show does not allow for the luxury of dating and getting to know someone before that kind of commitment. Also, there's no guarantee that if she ended with anyone else it would have lasted. Check the stats on how many of these relationships last. So why single out Nayte? He was right to break it off if it wasn't working.

I came to see the full interview because on IG, they cut this up with Nayte saying, 'I'm a FB, ' which is not exactly what he said. It felt like Nayte was filtering to protect Michelle like there was more to say, but good for him, this was enough. Nayte received a lot of bad press, and as he said, people have been projecting things about him since he was young, so he wants to clear his name. Everyone has their opinion on what happened or didn’t happen. But personality wise, Nayte seems to be free spirited, laid back and chill. Michelle seems to be more on the conservative side and a bit structured. I can definitely see where that would create some conflict. And if they realized they’re not compatible, it sucks but it’s life, and everyone has experienced incompatibility in some way shape or form in relationships and even in friendships. I’m glad they didn’t continue to try and force it which only makes things worst. They will be fine regardless of negative outside opinions and I wish them well.

Nick's team, you should've asked a follow question after he said he had such a blast at the beginning etc. How much of that was just the Bachelorette experience and how much did he think maybe he just fully wasn't getting to know a full person. Probably a combo but would've been an interesting question.

"Maybe fame got to Michelle" Lmfao! They both share their wrongs but I don't believe that for one bit and it's sad so many people in the comments are falling for this. If fame really got to Michelle, she'd make the most of it and milk it to the max by being much more active on social media but she actually is the one who is the least present of social media. It doesn't make sense at all. Michelle is not an attention seeker. Y'all are sending me 😂

Nayte so candid; I didn't expect him to reveal so much. I also appreciate a man who can be openly vulnerable. I'm sure Michelle has her own side to the story, but at the end of the day, I don't think it's about who's right; they just weren't meant to be together. The only thing I wish you had asked was about what happened to the house they were given! How did that go down? For the caller, I totally get where she's coming from; I've definitely been in a similar place in past relationships. However, she needs to know that this is not her guy. He's not interested. He's dating/f*ckling other people. If he wanted to make the time for her, he would. He says the right things to keep her on the back-burner when things are slow. Do not let this man string you along! You deserve and will find better than that....hopefully someone who knows how to communicate.

Just finished watching the interview. I went into this being a bit icey with Nayte. Now, I understand him and see him as his own human. His line about Michelle feeling "more of a coach, and not a partner" validate that being in the public eye put pressure on Michelle and ultimately, their relationship. It's still unclear to me how their communication and boundaries were around this. It sounds like they got caught up in the storm with no foundation and got swept up. He also refers to the beginning of their relationship as "fun", but felt like something shifted afterwards and they were arguing more. I'm not clear what foundations they put in place past the honeymoon phase. Or even better, if Nayte was ready to establish a real foundation beyond "fun". A relationship isn't the same as a friendship - there are ups and downs, and serious choices involved. They both had their own stressors and weren't each other's person. We can't be mad about that. What matters most at the end of the day is that they both learned from their mistakes and moved on and become better in their next relationship.

He represents Winnipeg really well 💜 If Nayte hasn't already, I wish he could express to Michelle how he needs her to dial it back on not being the teacher or possibly controlling in the relationship. She is a wonderful teacher to her students, but maybe she brings that kind of teacher/controlling energy to her relationships, and that's not sustainable in an equal partnership. Texting office hours: He doesn't want to be in a relationship with you, otherwise it would have happened from the get go even if you weren't in the same town. Not talking in June? What? He's not interested! Him saying that he missed you - sure, but that still doesn't mean he's capable of giving you what you want. After 3 days of no texting, stick a fork in it, this is done like dinner. You're right, if you didn't text, you wouldn't hear from him. If it were me I'd text "I want to break up. It's been a slice. See ya around." Because you shouldn't be putting up with this and when you have to ask, hey you said you wanted to be my bf, why aren't you being my bf, it's because... he doesn't actually want to be your bf. This isn't a misunderstanding or not laying out expectations; he's actually not interested and/or able to give you want you want.

No relationship will last with just fun. Relationships are work and that will never change. And life happens and you have to get through the boring parts of a relationship, which comes and go. He was never ready to be married. If an argument scares you, then I recommend never being married. Because arguments will occur but it’s how you work through them that is telling. Living in different places, especially, after an engagement didn’t help this relationship. They only saw the good side of each other during the show and when they saw the other side of one another it seems as if one of them couldn’t handle it. This is the issue with the franchise, these people need mandatory therapy during the airing of the show and after the show.

My perception of Nayte definitely changed after watching this. The show edit didn’t do him any favors and he’s so good looking and obv tall and has style and it definitely didn’t help that Michele is loved and rightfully so, but people can still love her and not allow the edit or social media to taint that Nayte is a good person and to realize that not all insanely gorgeous men like Nayte are total DB. I do feel bad bc I was team Brandon and allowed my past history to perceive Nayte like some of the men in my past. I was extremely impressed with Michele and am definitely not those keyboard warriors who goes after these contestants like the haters in bachelor nation and I’m the only one who knows that I felt some type of way about Nayte and I’m calling myself out that I was wrong. He really is sensitive and caring and it’s clear this wasn’t easy. It’s just disappointing bc I wish everyone gave him some grace on this to realize he’s human and break ups are not easy and these are his feelings about how the relationship broke down and even tho Michele seems perfect, the fact of the matter is, she isn’t. Not one hater can truly know what goes on behind closed doors and even those we view as perfect have insecurities.
