Welcome back to Boating News of the Week! As usual we review some clips of some people doing some silly things on a boat mixed in with some people doing incredible things on boats.
We have several good ones this week including the USCG making several saves.

Everybody needs a PFD even if you can swim good

Law requires at least 1 pfd per person and a throwable device. They need to be in good condition and easily accessible. Going offshore it's a good idea to have an epirb and possibly a sat phone.

I will share my experience on a charter boat. We got 70 miles offshore and the weather reports were wrong. At noon when we started to return, the swells were already 25-35 in a 35 foot boat. At no time were my friends and I informed of any lifejackets or anything. First mate was curled up in fetal position crying. It was only by God's grace and the Cappy's experience we were able to return to port with a totally beat up boat. I mean trashed. Safety briefings should be first and foremost before ever leaving port.

One thing about most multihull boats, they are just as stable upside down as they are right side up. There's no righting them. Also, what 20 foot boat is rated for 8 people?

My 21’ delta is rated for 8 people. Alot of 20’ are rated for 8, especially if they are open bow.

Exactly; too fast to grab life jackets. Epirbs trigger automatically when they go under water.

I like the videos I just wish I could actually see them. The clarity is always very poor. It's like viewing film from the 1930s.

Worst video quality on RU-vid, every time. Loving the consistency! Keep that nokia pointed at the ol zenith tube, make no effort. We'd hate to see clear video.

Can’t get great footage when flying a helicopter in dark conditions, or in a boat bouncing in the water. At least these clips were filmed in landscape mode-most people get super crappy video by not turning their phones long ways.

@@alitloff dude these HD videos he uses are dithered down to 480 at best, then poorly rendered with some freeware encoder. Look at the difference in the hd level sharpness of the end and title cards and the uniform trash quality of the videos that play between them. Then go over to any other boat channel and look at that crispy, razor keen 4k footage that anyone with a 150 dollar google phone can shoot these days.
