I think that I would probably burn more fuel on the Peabee just because the fuel burns are so close and the HOT between the 2 are about 10 mph different. I'll try another flight when I'm home, just for you.
I love to fly Powered Paragliders (foot launch has so many options to flying locations. However, as I fly Hang Gliders and Paragliders too, when wheels instead of running are in my future, I’ve got that Nine Flylight Airsports and Powered Hang Glider on my radar. Enjoy Florida (my current residence) hope I’m able to catch SunNFun this year. Love Laugh Live!!!
Hi JT, I hope you can make it, I'm here until Saturday. Fingers crossed the winds drop off. There is a NiNE there as well and it will be flying in the demo slot.
@@GolfFoxtrot22 I saw PPG Gorilla’s video of your flight. You looked rock solid! Conditions looked a bit like wet and windy… just to make you feel at home 🤣😝
Hi Giles, I hope Sun n Fun is going great, don't get burned in that lovely weather. Excellent experimental flight. Though for another video. You can now work out your fuel costs per hour, but how much do you need to set aside per hour flown? Insurance, hangerage, and annual inspection as fixed costs. Then a/c maintenance and engine maintenance per hour flown.
Hi Simon, your suggestion was actually something Mark and myself were talking about only last week. Great minds think alike as they say. I know there is a bit more to the phrase.😁
Great stuff, Giles - its good to see you and the machine finding the longer distance groove. Here's to happy travels and a big cheery welcome at Shobdon. 👍😁
Hi Giles. Good Vid. I fly (used to?) to marvel at the wonderful map called England. My XL at 41 mph gave me time to look at the things I was flying over. Some I had noted during my flight planning and marking my route on the map. (Thumbs down to digital maps). Others I spotted on the way and investigated after the flight. So when you were at your turn point at Uttoxeter you passed over a dual carriageway. Then other interesting things appeared along the route. If you are just playing music on the soundtrack please identify in text any landmarks you encounter. Have you changed your engine to match your new wing? I look forward to the comparison when you return from Sun'n'Fun. Please add some links to the manufacturer's websites so us landbound mortals can envy what we are missing. I have more medical stuff to come, but next time I am in England I would love to have a lesson with you. Enjoy Sun'n'Fun. You deserve a great expedition.
What great detail. You need to write a book🙂 Anyway, your videos are top notch. How are you doing at Sun & Fun? Hope it's as good as you had hoped. Thanks.
great vid Giles something I've noticed when you build up speed to take off you seem to be holding the bar forward for a long time and I've noticed that a lot of USA pilots do the same. Is this a safe habit? Great if you have a long airstrip but I nearly came unstuck once when the aircraft I was flying wouldn't climb and was trying to stall out.
Hi Living, it is a perfectly valid take off technique once you are happy with the performance of the wing. A short or soft field technique is to actually move the bar forward straight away and then feel the aircraft off and then accelerate ( lots of other factors that are taught alongside my comments). If you notice, once I've lifted off, the bar comes straight back to aid the acceleration and move it away from the critical angle. I hope that clarifies things.
@@tomcoryell it was a few years back now, mid '90s. If I recall, a private strip near Gloucester, then Popham, then Headcorn, then over the channel and on to Abbeville. It was a single carb 503 & it had to work pretty hard with two up, two fuel tanks & panniers!
@@PaulUnderwood345 I’m a Yank, so I don’t understand Two up. Does that mean you and a passenger? Ha Giles! Yes the human bladder is the great duration limiter. Especially when you reach geezerhood like I have. (Geezerdom?) 😎
Hello, it's an Icaro Scarab with a long visor. Unfortunately they don't make this one any more but the closest version in the SolarX. I hope that helps.
