Just a tip for tigging off the pipe pro. Set to lift arc then adjust the arc control down( I set mine at -2 on the soft side) then when you get to the end your pass long arc a little bit and it will give you a down slope effect to extinguish the arc with having gas coverage the entire time. It’s a badass feature and works great! Hope this helps

Manually spinning the stainless on the Carbon Jack stands puts grooves in the stainless exposing the pores of the metal …… at some point it’ll show oxidation slight rust…. Easy fix for this is lightly buff those marks and seal with clear coat…. Maybe you do have those Jack stands protected ….. just couldn’t tell🤷‍♂️……. But I always use clear coat when the pores of stainless are exposed to the elements….. stainless has Chromium coat on it for that purpose but it always gets compromised especially 304 and 316 stainless

I am also working these Biogas/ renewable energy projects…… pulling the methane off some digester tanks…. Running it through some charcoal filters and other equipment Eventually tying into a distributon line for a local energy company…… really cool project and process all around…….. question : are you purging these welds ? Not so much the slip on flanges but the fish mouth and so on ?

Couple of things I note that are different here in Australia where I come from. 3.27 shows the slip on flange, your welding the back fillet first, I was always taught to do the inside fillet first to minimise distortion on both the flange and the pipe, especially on stainless. 3.27 also shows the uneven fit up gap around the circumference, between the the outer pipe wall and the flange bore size, I can see daylight gap on the bottom, and no gap at all on top.. Is there reason for this? or are your standards different/ more relaxed than ours here. Nice welds 👍

Looks slick the only thing I woulda done differently is run a straight edge across the two branches on top of flanges to make sure your height is dead nuts, you can probably get the hi low out in the bolt up but you still want your flanges to be flush. They may be both level but still want height within a few mm

Dang bro out in the wind doing some stainless tig… must be ficking nice. I did some stainless welding for a tanker company filling and blending pits in the metal then blending and polishing. We use a hose to bring in fresh air and a fan to suck out the “old” basically just breathing an ozone at that a certain point

What was your process for setting the two hole with the flange in a horizontal position?
@TheWeldProfessor
@TheWeldProfessor 6 месяцев назад
Well my saddle was true to the two hole so when it set on the pipe it was really close but i use a squares straight edge across the two holes and match it to the pipe
@johnself8760
@johnself8760 6 месяцев назад
Looks good but I have found it’s easier to make my flange welds last on the spool it’s easier to 2 hole and compensate for level and square and shrinkage especially with stainless
@TheWeldProfessor

Everyone is different and I don’t knock anyone’s hustle I simply think we all mean well and some are better than others. I stay in my lane and fab how I like. I can’t really pick up other peoples habits because it slows me down. I work at one speed. Accurate and efficient. If it can’t come out good and decent and it’s to much piddly I don’t waste my time tinkering down that lane. Nothing against your statement that all good for a man learning and burning. We all want the end result the same and some take short cuts on work. Stainless is just its own art. I’m no master of it but I throughly enjoy it.
