Dude went 1 km into the city, missed all of the large spas/waterparks, skipped seeing the university and its surroundings, didn't go into any of the museums or parks and then called the city depressing. Great stuff
As a Debrecen local, i never found it depressing. It has some communist leftover grey houses, sure, but it also has the best schooling system you'll find around central/east/south Europe, has some great sights, and is Hungarian, therefore good food with good people. 10/10, would be born and grow up here again.
Be a youtuber -> Get an easily clickbaitable title -> Go to a random city in eastern europe -> Record the most run down parts of town -> MAKE SURE ITS IN RAINY WEATHER -> Search for alcoholics -> Make fun of them for no reason -> Post the video -> Watch all the locals trying to defend their city -> PROFIT
Debrecen is not so depressing, I love being a student here. I want to move when I finish my degree, but this place is quite peaceful and underrated. Also, by territory it's the 3rd biggest in the country, not the second.
Debrecinka, famous Debrecen sausage. In Northern Croatia, it is a mandatory part of breakfast before the grape harvest. It was a model for the production of many similar salami and sausages in Europe.
Hops on a random train, gets to a random location, and then starts wondering what to do there. How about looking up the tourist sites first? I have lived in Debrecen for nearly a decade now. It is certainly not the most interesting European city, but calling it depressing is a bit over the top. Calling it the most depressing city in Europe is ludicrous. The main square with the Great Church (right next to the white church you called Big Ben) is actually quite nice. We have festivals in the Summer, with concerts and street fairs for weeks. The city has a rich history and a large museum if you're into that stuff. The main university campus with lakes and forests surrounding it is also a good place to spend an afternoon. But sure, sit in a random pub, because that will tell you a lot about a city.
true -- bro even Århus .. its more depressing and Hungarians are racist like danes, but at least hungarians are more social, than danes.... they talk more and are more social despite talking 0 angolul ... If you exclude Copenhagen .. Denmark is pretty depressing...
Modus operandi of a "well-educated", full-time RU-vidr: thinks of a clickbait title --> goes to an Eastern-European city --> checks a small, run-down area of the city + searchs a few, poor alcohol addicts and make fun of them --> creates a video ! Very good job, sir ! ;)
To be honest it isn't far from rality. Hungary is full of alcoholists who cannot even for a coherent sentence anymore. The buildings are in bad condition because the government steals the money what was for to upgrade the country
Why are you checking only the ghetto parts? I live here. 1/10 of the city (at maximum) that looks like this. Also: the cat guy is a local celeb, an ex drog addict who was saved by a therapy purpose cat. Started to work and got his life together, now an insta star. Dont judge over him. The catbis OK, many animal rescue groups are keeping an eye on them, no issues.
I found Gorizia, Italy incredibly depressing. The sky is mostly grey and the energy is just so so sad. Near the city there are natural openings in the terrain where people (men and women, possibly children too) were thrown in alive and left to die after WW2, they were accused of being Italian, therefore fascist...they weren't, the real fascists were hiding. In that part of Friuli-Venezia Giulia there is also the only concentration camp in Italy and it's the worst, saddest place I have been in. Some cells are only 1m wide and dark, the museum contains documents and diaries that are easy to read made by prisoners, along with some striped pajamas from Auschwitz.
It's great to have the timers so you know how much time you need to wait for the green lights, but the fact that they usually start counting back from 99, even on a remote street is killing me. Also the lack of green waves is annoying.
As an American I find it interesting that you can fly in Europe an 1.5 and be in completely different country. In the U.S. you can take an 1.5 flight and are still the same state. Wow
Bro showed the ugly buildings in the city and called it depressing. I live there and it’s not depressing at all. There are way worse city’s in the country
Berlin is way more depressing than Debrecen, and I am saying this as someone who doesn't like Debrecen lol And people, stop this bs with Miskolc, it has a pretty downtown.
I love it. My wife is from there and i look forward to visiting Debrecen. I love the small town feel and how peaceful it is. It’s a far cry from our old place in south Florida and our current home in London. If it wasn’t so cold in the winter id retire here
Bro went to the 2nd largest city in Hungary, skipped out all the aquaparks, attractions, architecture, went to the post-soviet part of the city, recorded 2 buildings and called it depressing
Why the Debrecen hate? I’ve been there last week. I saw a basketball match in the city square. The food is good, people are nice and they have good universities and beautiful buildings. Very clean too.
BRUUUH! The bar you went to, called Bakelit Music Cafe, was the one where I started bartending and serving the international students of Debrecen. I worked there for almost 2 years, I know Kornél, the owner (with his comically high-pitched voice), his wife and two daughters, and I must have served 1000 shots of Pink Berentzen, ESN shot (cherry and vodka mixed), and straight Nicolaus vodka each. If you come to Debrecen again, try Sheldon's; we have awesome beers!
Me as a Hungarian who was just in debrecen lmao, its not the most depressing place in europe its just less modern and more old school. Lots of happy and good people here.
@@Samual.adis.Najmani Children are in school, and retired people sit at home or tend to the cemetery. People who work night shifts are probably asleep. Gypsies on the other can be readily found on the street, because they don't work. They make a living by stealing from people. (I'm not being racist btw that's literally what they do here)
@@Samual.adis.Najmani Children at the school or kindergarten. But i dont know how you are able to make a judgment from a short video. This downed Dane came in February or March. What did you expect? Debrecen is the city of the flowers ... in the summertime we also have a flower carnival. If you want to find a big crowd, dogshit and trash on the streets, go to Budapest.
Nah it’s not depressing it’s just gray and every person could kill u with they eyes actually it’s pretty good just everyone sees the wrong side and if u want to see something colourful and depressing at the same time go to Tata or Tatabánya Challenge: go to Tatabánya and try epee fencing at the TSC sport club
I live here. Don't come. There is nothing for the tourists. Barely anything for the residents too. It's a car centric city for a reason. People just move out and through.
