well i wasn't impressed by the nose ring, was just being honest it. i don't hate his channel by any stretch, just gave my two cents about the face decoration. i dont think he needs it, he already has a winning personality without it. his show is very informative and well done. just fyi i deleted message a few seconds after i posted it. i rethought it, but didn't get it down in time before you saw it. if you need a hug or someone to wipe your gentile tears away, don't be afraid to ask.
"There's an incredible softness going on here that I don't fully understand, but I'll be looking into further" - Scott the Miniature Maniac. Great video, thanks for the memories, see ya next time! :-)
Adepticon was definitely one of the happiest cons I've been to. It was so great to meet so many of my content creator heroes (who happen to be friends in some cases), but the camaraderie was palpable. Love ya, Scott.
Great video, Scott! Being around so many people who felt as passionate about the hobby as I am was a great experience. I had a ton of fun and met some awesome people. And yes, Robin's GD entries were shockingly good.
The con was a blast and it was an absolute pleasure getting to hang out with you guys. You're not wrong about Eric either, dude had enough snacks in the hotel room to feed a small family for a month.
It's so cool to see the painting community is strong at Adepticon! I have only seen the gaming side of things, I follow lots of competitive 40k content creators, and the tournament is the only thing that I have heard of. But the community and the experience of the painting side seems awesome too! Thanks for a fun video!
I love the fact that Vince straight up just wears the apron even when he's not painting. It has the same vibes of baker forgetting to take the hat off when he goes to the pub.
Nice to meet you on the Sunday Scott. Made the 32 hour trip home to New Zealand last Wednesday. The highlight of Adepticon to me was the Golden Demon competition. My wife and daughter in law (neither of them hobbyists) spent hours looking at the entries. I think they finally understood the enjoyment my son and I get from the hobby. Well done again on the success of the Kickstarter. Looking forward to a Miniac Brush Coffin here in Godzone
I wish they would have something like that closer to home. I miss the days when we would have Games Day each year in Baltimore Maryland with it's own associated Golden Demon comp. Looks like you had mad fun.
I actually really appreciate your honesty, rather than unnecessarily inane positivity you say it as it is - I appreciate the humanity as it reminds us it's not all about forced smiles. Sometimes it just sucks to lose or to mess up a project, and the psychological reality isn't all benign and positive, which often seems to be the social expectation placed on us to somehow discuss the negative shizzle without any negativity at all... 😊
Awesome video man! Super sick seeing ya there and watching ya paint part of that Thundetusk! Our friend Zach actually won the raffle at the end for it!! Super sick to have it amongst our friend group. You the best man!
been looking into that contrast thing too recently. You want your desaturated colors to play with each other, a cold yellow and a warm yellow will look good in the shadows. Those cold yellows will contrast and appear blue, while they other yellows warm. Then you present a cold desaturated blue and a yellow at the center of your piece. the cold yellows will harmonize with the blue, so the attention doesn't focus in on the blue being the only cold color. This can also be applied to just general lighting and what not. I'll get back to you when I actually understand what I'm talking about.
As far as decals, I use a ton of them. My freehand largely sucks, so they're a great way to add details. Especially to tanks and Knights. Waterslides go on smoothly if applied over a wet, gloss clear. It gives you more time to position and get air bubbles out. Top off with a coat or two more. Once it's totally dry, beat them up a little. Scrape them with a file, sand bits thinner, anything to weather them into the paint job.
hell YES I love road trip vlogs coming from my favourite funny youtubers who usually dont do this kinda content, throw in some hobby nerd stuff and Im sold!
I felt the emotion in the GD portion of this one. I can relate in that I didnt finish my GD entry in time, so I just tossed in anything I had laying around, knowing I didnt have a snowballs' chance in hell of getting anything. It felt really cool to enjoy my friends success but I couldnt help but feel like I also let myself down. That was short lived though, as I redeemed myself with a Resin Beast ^.^ always love your stuff Scott. Dont ever stop making videos like this, please.
Your videography skills are on point good sir, and as someone who hadn't been able to attend a con since getting into the hobby, this really makes me look forward to making the trip next year 😁
The return to Adepticon was almost everything I was hoping it would be. My major complaint was there wasn't enough time to hang out with everyone I wanted to. Great video Scott, until next we meet!!
Brother we've never met, but I wanna thank you and Grandfather Nurgle. Without your vids and Nurgles blessings I never would have pulled the trigger on this amazing hobby. THANK YOU SCOTT,.....and Nurgle lol
Awesome video! I love hearing the stories about the adventure. I've been painting for over a year now, and I'm not huge into warhammer, would I have fun at Adepticon? I've been to Gencon and other gaming conventions, but with this having a war gaming focus, I don't know what I'd do besides taking mini painting classes.
Not enough people talk about the fact that Siocast is also reusable. Off-cuts and sprue junk can be ground up and melted down again to be reused in the next batch. Keeps a lot of scrap plastic out of the landfill, and is a good step towards a more sustainable hobby.
Well, we had the live podcast, Uncle Atom has put out 2 or 3 videos about Adepticon, Jon dropped his video last week... I knew Scott would get around to putting something out eventually :P
Hello Fresh! If anyone is thinking about getting it DO! My husband in the 15 years together has cooked maybe 10 times, other than using the grill. For Christmas I decided to try Hello Fresh for a few weeks, we are still doing it and we are cooking together the meals now, he loves to chop the veggies. It has brought us closer together and we are eating more veggies, he has learned to cook, and is eating more things he normally wouldnt!
Hey Scott! About the decals: Guy (MM) speaks about these Microsol and Microset liquids that are apparently quite great. You might have spoken to him about it already, but if not, here's a link to exactly where he does: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KNVznWghFWU.html Might not be what you were getting at talking about painting them but... Well, could be of interest I suppose. 🙂👍
Was that a quick shot of Mrs. Miniac eating during the Hello Fresh ad? To be honest, I always kind of figured Scott was making her up in his imagination.
I'd like to suggest you change the title. It's not a Warhammer Convention. Not sure if that was intentional or a slip. It's so much more than GW, the biggest name in the industry.
People have probably already asked you about this Scott, but how do you feel about new Morbius movie. Jared Leto seems to be getting the short end of the stick at both Marvel and DC now.
What a wonderful view of the event! I do hope that as a professional you will take occasionally time off from competition occasionally to continue to feel that joy. About your exit tag line, please get a voice effect module or an old vocalizer so you don’t end up in surgery and/or sounding like Marge Simpson. You are putting a lot of force to exude stomach and esophageal acids across a membrane more delicate than skin. I think the other boys and girls know you Can sound like that, and if anyone asks why you no longer do that a capella, tell them it’s the Future, man! Technology is there so you don’t end up sounding as scary as the original Skelator.
