You absolutely made my day catching onto that as well. I believe I mentioned it the 1st time I heard a Gojira track. I was like, this sounds like MORBID ANGEL!!! probably one of many reasons I instantly liked the band right off the bat. And I couldn’t agree with you more this band much like Jinjer have been able to take what has been done on countless occasions and completely flipped it. Making it sound new again if you will. The Retro Theater Oh, no she’s known this side of me since the beginning. She’s been to plenty of my own shows back when I was playing in bands doing the whole touring/grinding music business side of things. But you’re spot on about her taste in music. Until now she couldn’t wrap her head around metal music. It was just to foreign to her. But now her 3 favorite bands are Gojira, Jinjer & Tool. And it’s crazy to think she’d enjoy music that has elements of death metal because she’s heard plenty of death metal I’ve played before. But these 3 bands just have something so unique it grows on people that aren’t normally into this sound. Because like you said, good music is good music regardless of the genre
