My problem with this writing choice is three-fold. 1. It undermines Gojo's whole motivation: Gojo's whole motivation was to have his students reach his level and possibly surpass him, the new generation improving on the failures of the old. And we saw this come to pass with Yuji, who not only managed to learn Blood Manipulation, Simple Domain, and Reverse Curse Technique within a month, but even managed to awaken his own version of Sukuna's Shrine technique, allowing him to stand toe-to-toe with the King of Curses himself. By bringing Gojo back in this way, it completely undermines Gojo's dream of his students suprassing him as it shows that they really do need Gojo to win. They can't beat Sukuna on their own. 2. It undermines Yuji as the MC: This was the main reason I didn't want Gojo to come back outside of being a hallucination. As mentioned above, Yuji had some great development these last few chapters. In one month, he learned Reverse Cursed Techinque, Blood Manipulation, and Simple Domain and even awakened his own version of Sukuna's shrine. Last chapter had Todo and Yuji clearly dominating the fight with Sukuna, with Yuji ready to literally tear Sukuna's heart out. But all of that is completely thrown to the wayside just to have Sukuna vs Gojo Round 2. It's just not a good way to treat your MC. 3. It proves Sukuna right: What I loved about Sukuna vs Yuji was that it wasn't just a contest of strength, but a clash of ideals like Yuji vs Mahito. You have Sukuna, a hedonistic psychopath who fights purely for his own selfish pleasure vs Yuji, an alturistic idealist who fights to protect those he loves. So doesn't Yuta puppetering Gojo's body prove that Sukuna's ideolgy was right? That you must be willing to do whatever it takes, even throwing your humanity away, to become stronger? It's such a nihilistic message to send. Maybe that's the point, but it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. All I can say is this: Gojo deserved better, Yuta deserved better, and Yuji certainly deserved better. And the themes of JJK are everywhere and convoluted. The main theme in the beginning was about what makes a meaningful death as stated by Yuji’s grandpa, but now they all mean nothing.

It was annoying having people think us getting Gojo having a fake personality the entire series was good, and he should stay dead. He was just following Geto’s lead, even after Geto turned evil Gojo was just copying the good personality of Geto. This chapter actually showed Gojo being an individual.

Dude said “if gojo dies, I got to step up and be the strongest by any means necessary.” Dude’s Hail Mary was to make sure Kenjaku was killed and consumed by him so he can copy his body swap technique, pray that Gojo’s corpse was salvageable after the sakuna fight, use it only if his DE does not kill sakuna or he’s on the verge of death, and copy only works for 5 mins. So after 5 mins he’s either gonna be stuck in gojos body, booted out of gojo’s body back to his own body, or straight up erased. He got that dog in him.

Ok, imma be honest I’ve had a good amount of problems with geges writing but I’ve always let him cook, but come on at a certain point you gotta look at it objectively gege is an amazing Charecter designer made an insanely good power system and up till mid culling games a really good story but at this point it just feels like he isn’t the best at creating a story or making fulfilling characters arks. Case. in point Nobara, yuki, Kenjaku/Geto, Takaba(Somewhat cause he wasn’t even really a Character just being honest), kashimo(Somewhat), and for the longest time Yuji. None of them really had fulfilling ends (except yuji he isn’t Dead “yet”) part of this is cause his execution and another part is probably because we got barely the minimal amount of time with most all of them, the plot from the start has just been go go go with no time to breath. It’s honestly just exhausting having to look at another chapter of charecters either dying or in the Yuta case this chapter, gege giving the metaphorical middle finger to gojo and kenjaku fans. I love Jjk but can we please just acknowledge the fact that when it comes to the Actual story and charecters themselves it’s pretty flawed all around.

Gege never said he hates Gojo the character - its kind of a lost in translation thing but more accurately, he meant that its very difficult to write a story around an OP protagonist like him because it makes the stakes very low, which in turn makes a story a lot less compelling. He had to always think up ways of why Gojo wouldnt always just save the day by conveniently being away or getting sealed. On the other hand an OP villain is more compelling because it gives you more to work with which is why its been Sukuna Kaisen for the last odd 50 chapters or so. Its not that he glazes one over the other for the sake of it, its purely from a writing angle.

But, you can not tell me in good faith that this chapter doesn't raise questions about the quality of plot and character writing. 1. Yuji being overshadowed again. (He does not need to be centralized as a main character but he deserves some spot light) 2. Questions about if the cast are this morally opposed to gundaming Gojo's body then why didn't Maki aim for the brain with her sneak attacks or why did Yuta turn off Jacob's ladder. Over defending a chapter / plot is just as bad as the other extreme side of calling each chapter "trash" / "ass" for superficial reasons.

Im a Gojo fan too and I think this was a good move. Better than it being Kenny himself. Yuta made a good point questioning the humanity of it all. There’s a reason these chapters have been called “Inhuman Showdown”

Yuta can selectively use his sure-hit and single out targets unlike Gojo who hits everyone in his Domain, so Yuji and Todo can probably still fight against Sukuna within the Domain.

The dark shonen manga My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, Chainsaw Man, JJK etc etc, they are not afraid to kill off MAJOR characters and even tho people will say "that's bad writing" etc. That is a your personal opinion. I LOVE the fact that these mangakas ARE willing to kill them off b/c that was one of the BIG FLAWS with the Big 3 (Naruto, OP and Bleach). So many characters and not one of them I felt were in danger, like, only a handful of characters from naruto and bleach died and they were loved to an extent/if you personally love that specific chara but, DS (Rengoku dead and people miss him dearly), CSM that chara gone. The issue, I think, is not even Gojo coming back in this way. For me , it is more so the fact that the instant Sukuna sees 'Gojo' , Yuji, after being hyped up for the last however many chapters is thrown aside as if he were just fodder and not the MC, for what? Just so that we get another clash of Infinite Void and Malevolent Shrine? Why couldn`t Zombie Gojo, Yuta, Todo just jump Sukuna in a epic 3 way 'Jumpkaisen' type deal? While I certainly appreciate the whole 'doing whatever it takes to win, morals be damned' aspect of this whole thing, I also think Gojo should`ve just stayed permanently dead after the Sukuna fight. Otherwise, Gojo`s statement of 'one day my students will surpass me' kind of rings hollow to me, if they just need to re-animate the man to even contend with Sukuna ( and even then there is no guarantee for a win, given how desperate the situation is ). In fact, I`d be totally fine with Sukuna winning so long as the ending is satisfying - it doesn`t have to be 'bad man must die because Shonen' trope. It just feels like we didn`t really progress much in ~100 chapters if we`re just getting Gojo vs Sukuna again ( even though the nuances are different this time ). Naturally, I can think of much worse final fights and how certain villains were handled ( cough Madara cough ) and I kind of don`t want that to happen here, cus who`s to say that the Merger won`t just activate due to shenanigans ( I know that Kenny`s initial rule for the Merger activation was that everyone in Culling games had to die, except for Kenny, Uraume and Sukuna but IIRC, didn`t Kenny also grant Sukuna the ability to start the merger whenever? I might be speaking out of my ass on this point, so forgive me if that`s the case) or something and consumes Sukuna ( much like how Kaguya just sort of spawned from within Madara ) and then the actual final fight is versus some giant monster thing we have no connection to, especially since it just offs Sukuna? Certainly not something I`d necessarily drop the series over but it does make a man wonder where Gege is taking the story.

To early to really call what happens after Yuta's supposed five minute limit but this chapter made me like Yuta way more. The willingness to do whatever it takes to put Sukuna down, even if it means cannibalizing his Sensei/bigger-brother figure was absolutely hardcore... Even Sukuna was like damn son that's metal af.

Tbf, most of us only read/watched Jjk for Gojo, even after Gojo died, he’s now being disrespected even after death. Gege makes no sense to me, Gojo made Jjk.

For me this is peak writing, I find it flawless that Sukuna, who had to steal Megumi’s body to beat Gojo Satoru, has to deal with someone doing the exact same thing but with Gojo’s body. Also this adds a new aspect to everyone wanting Yuta out of the fight, even Kashimo basically saying “hey don’t ruin this for your master, you only want to interfere for your selfish desires” since now that we see it, it was Yuta trying to defend his humanity or die trying all along, this was the reason for his anxiety. I could run parallels with Yuji telling Mahito that they are the same, but my theory is, Yuta isn’t like Sukuna, and if Sukuna is a fraud Yuta is twice the fraud, this is Okkotsu playing pretend against the real thing, up to you which one would be more valuable in this situation but I think Yuta will fall short, bringing the secret 4th option, Sukuna uses most of his remaining strength to end Yuta and Gojo’s corpse before the 5 minute mark.
