Canonically it's like that to limit the amount of information six eyes it gives to gojo to prevent burn out. Although I understand that his technique is much simpler and easy to perceive and that makes it more common sense. it happens so quickly it looks like teleportation, but he's traveling on top of a wave of phenomena with his cursed technique. He's shrinking space in front of him and expanding space behind him. Imagine all the atoms and particles in front of him are no longer there space quicky fills the vacuum, and then imagine at the same time all particles that weren't there are suddenly expanding again and pushing him from behind.
