I couldn’t agree more. He had his goofy moments in DBZ but he was scary when he got serious and Super just doesn’t do it at all except for briefly when Goku Fights Golden Frieza and again when he fights Goku black and Zamasu but it’s just such a rarity
People really think that this would „kill“ beerus, beerus never existed back then. Toriyama would’ve just made up a different story for beerus when creating him
@Umut K are you ok? Why would we assume a different story would just happen bc of the time that the show took place. Based on what we know this would have killed beerus. Just bc we haven't heard of the character at that time doesn't mean their story just changes because of an event
Goku was never smart, he was just an incredible fighter. He still is, because he's achieved MUI which most GODs struggle to perform with. What is lacking is his personality. He's genuinely not grown at all for 2 decades mentally. Even Frieza has and he's been shown to be nothing but pure evil

2:44 Man I got chills down my spine. Goku was ready to kill a noble person like Supreme Kai without any hesitation. I've never seen Goku this serious and angry. I miss this Goku so much. I wish they would have kept him like this in DBS, but instead, they turned him into a joke.

Super Manga Goku is a bit better but he still isn't Close to Z Goku. Sub or Dub Z Goku was a far better character, and it's sad how Dragon Ball KID GOKU is somehow more mature.
My #1 favorite serious Goku moment is tied with one being the Kai dub when he first went Super Saiyan and told Gohan "DO AS I TELL YOU RIGHT NOW, BEFORE I LOSE WHAT LITTLE SENSE OF REASON I HAVE LEFT!" and when he told Kid Buu "And that's why it has to end like this! You'll have to learn the HARD way...and know what it's like to have YOUR life, taken away against YOUR will! It's WRONG!"
I love how annoyed Goku is with kid Buu sleeping during his heroic speech. It reminds me how oblivious and ignorant Kid Goku was with his opponents. Kid Buu really Brought it in full circle. Great villian to cap off the series 😊
I know it's just his "western name" but kid Buu was never called kid buu. He was always Majin Buu. Regardless of form. It's the western dubbing companies that gave them different names.

I have a lot of issues with the Majin Buu Saga, but that was one of the times I really like Majin Saga Goku when he was prepared to kill the Supreme Kai. We never see this side of him. Something I expected from Vegeta, but never Goku.

I was watching the steelbox DBZ releases and they went back and redubbed over the Saiyan saga (originally the ocean dub, I believe) and then by time they hit the Ginyu arc, it caught back up to their old versions of the voices and you can hear the stark difference in their skill. Sean Schemmel's old school Goku is so cringe compared to how he does Goku in later Z and now.

They were already great but it was obvious during Kai that the cast and writers had a lot more experience. While, the dialogue wasn't as memorable but it flowed much more natuarally and the cast's delivery also improved a lot

Did you miss his line right after? "I won't be around forever". That's why. He could've killed a threat right then and there like he always do, but that way the youngsters will never learn how to defend the world themselves without Goku's aid.
I feel like the whole exchange between Goku and the Supreme Kai was so underrated and good. Goku lowers his arms from a fighting stance to threaten him with an energy blast if Supreme Kai did not move, which caught everyone off guard. Why? Because this SEEMS out of character. But I always theorized Goku, the fighting genius he is, knew what would happen next. Vegeta would have, without mercy, demolished the Supreme Kai if he had remained in the way. So Goku got the Kai out of the way the kindest way he could. (Which I believe was going to be a blast calculated to hurt him but not kill him)
i think goku would have killed him. i think when it comes to killing people treat goku like gohan who's resistant but not unwilling to kill but i think hes closer to a character like wonder woman who'd kill for the sake of achieving her goals. goku is a saiyan warrior at heart and he's not going to run from a fight especially one that needed to happen like the one against majin vegeta. goku would rather his opponents live so he can fight them again later but he's not a comic book hero who'd try and talk it out with his villains.
People often forget that even in the manga, Beerus can still layout Goku like a pancake. Goku's insane pain tolerance will not help him of the kittycat finds out😅😅😅

Goku getting serious when he learned what Goku Black/Zamasu did to Chi-Chi and Goten was satisfying to watch. One of my fav moments in DBS and a reminder that Goku can still get serious.
Sad, that those are rare moments nowadays. I remember Gokus first confrontation with Goku Black. Trunks told him what a Murderer and Menace he is... And Goku "spares" with him without getting really mad or serious. Was really disapponted.
Probably not during their first battle. Remember Goku was new to SSJG and had to get used to it. Did this two had any other fights after Battle of Gods?
@@ElectroBlastLuigi Killing Supreme Kai also kills Beerus. So if Goku had gone through and blasted Supreme Kai when he was trying to stop him from fighting Vegeta, it would’ve killed Beerus, too

This is the goku I will always remember, yes some bits of super are cool, but the demeanor goku had back then made all the real difference in the moments that mattered. Thats why the drama in DBZ hits different.

Remember back during the Cell Saga when Goku said he could "feel" that Trunks was gonna stop? They all must've known that Goku was serious about killing the Supreme Kai. He charged it to give him a chance to back down, but he was dead set on killing him
We need more serious Goku in the continuation of Super. It's what makes him compelling in his adult years as a character. It gives him depth beyond being a battle loving goofball.
now he knows what it feels like to be cheated out of a good fight. Vegeta felt that same humiliation when he found out Goku was hiding the Super Saiyan 3 all the time to make Vegeta feel good on being his equal.
This is a perfect example of why you NEVER piss off characters who are normally carefree. Cause if means that if you managed to piss then off, then you royally fucked up
if Goku decided to go full ham right from the get go against any of his opponents since he unlocked the Super Saiyan form, there's no way Dragon Ball Z will go long than what it is. Goku will end up killing them immediately instead of sizing his opponent up and make them stronger as the fight goes on.
Friendly reminder that Goku can't kill, he can and will Kill if he has too, he sometimes doesn't give a flying fuck if he has to kill to save his friends, he would and will kill if he has too, he just chooses to not to because of his sense of humanity that taught him on Earth and the teachings of his Grandpa Gohan, so Z Goku is the best Goku so far, people don't always Realize Z Goku despite his kindness and sympathy, he can kill as a last resort.
"I wanted Gohan and the boys to try their hand at saving the world. I wont be around forever" this hits so much harder with Super's latest chapter showing Kakarot tell Gohan that he knows Earth is safe even in his absence. 🖤
I really hate the argument “the dub made Goku seem more heroic/serious” and I’m sitting here like….”it’d be one thing if the dub just changed what he said but the show literally shows animation of Goku being serious or heroic sooo”
