That was the shirt and one arm band. Goku was wearing that, plus another arm band and two boots that probably weighed the same. That is probably 50 kilos per item, app. 100 pounds each, which means Goku was probably wearing at least 500 pounds.
@@usam-zf6gcaka a quarter of a literal ton. I won’t do the math, but once he plans on staying in Otherworld(for a while at least) he’s able to do a literal full ton at base form, for each limb.
Back then yamcha wasn’t all that far behind everyone else. He never won a fight, and in this tournament he was humiliated, but he was never weak. I figure he’s not much stronger than here in Dbz when he breaks the weights machine at the gym lol

@@xdosagex from the context of the video, 100kg is that heavy, and that's just the shirt and wrist bands according to Yamcha. "Evenly" distributed the shirt would be 50kg and the bands 25 each. Did some mild research and the heaviest army guys said they put on in gear is 200 lbs. They did say it was doable but it was no picnic.

Honestly Kid Goku and the cast have done more impressive feats than just lifting 100 Kg Kid Goku has lifted boulders bigger than his entire body. The more unrealistic thing is pretending Adult Goku would struggle whit 40 tons at his base form, even tho he tanked the attacks of Frieza which were capable of destroying planets.

Krillin should remember when he and Goku had to wear the heavy tortoise shells as kids training with Master Roshi! Even Roshi was impressed Goku took that training to 11 here.
You know the entire story of Goku is based on China's Journey to the west where the monkey king Sun Wu Kong which when translated in Japanese is Sun Goku travels the world training and gathering allies to fight gods in order to protect humanity

The primary reason why everyone was so surprised is none of them were using Ki to actually move the items. Kid Goku and Krillin both channeled their Ki to push the boulders. Part of Goku's training here was to get used to wearing heavy clothing without the use of Ki to make sure that his physical body was growing and improving as well, not just his Ki Control. Yes, he's absolutely done far more than wearing 100 Kilo, but that was Ki Control training. This was physical endurance training.

Sometimes I think Vegeta should get recognition for his training, but when I rewatch Dragon Ball I understand that Goku also put a lot of effort into his training.

Its not that hard to make. Wristbands and neckbands exist. Not that heavy. But even things like eatind or playing videogames is pretty hard the second day. 3rd day is worst. Since day 4 it is getting easier. Some Safety shoes are pretty heavy too. Fishing style vests or any vest with bunch of pockets filled with quicksilver is helpfull too.
And tbh, that's probably chi-chi's fault, since he was dead for quite a while and super takes place before he goes off to train uub so at that point chi-chi has been longing for him for 7 years... Safe to say Goku didn't have a lot of blood going to the brain department

Yes. Dragon Ball was best when it was somewhat grounded and threats felt like threats. Now anyone who is powerful feels more like a chance to power up again, rather than worrying about the well being of planet earth lol
Jackie Chum blew up the moon in the first tournament. That destructive power, if turned on the earth, while not enough to destroy it outright, would decimate all life on the planet. Dragon Ball has always had insane levels of power
The four most robbed characters in the dragon ball franchise all in one segment. Bulma, Oolong, Yamcha and Puar were Goku's original companions and all of them got robbed of their place in his crew, three of them just about completely disappeared.
Why would that not be impressive? Goku was moving at a speed faster than the eyes can see while wearing around 220lb clothes. They have to powerup their Ki for that level of power; it’s not something they can just do until later on. Piccolo did blow up the moon far easier than Roshi; he even used a normal Ki blast while Roshi had to use the Kamehameha wave.
@SoulofFinality it's not inconsistent. You just don't understand how ki works in this universe. Their physical bodies are nowhere near as powerful as their ki is. They shield themselves against ki with ki and their punches are infused with ki for "that extra kick". Their lifting strength is not increased when their power levels are unless (as in the case of USSJ) their body can't handle the ki increase and their muscles are forced to bulge.
The fact that tien still asked if he can inspect the dropped clothing so politely is wild. Like did he think goku might say no? Or suspect him of potential theft? Lol just a random thought.
I started at the beginning of "Z" back in the 90s and only just recently discovered "dragon ball" and always wondered what the hell they were talking about in Z when they referenced events from dragon ball!

People actually forgot how much of a rivalry tien and Goku had and I feel bad Tien is genuinely meant to be one of the best Z fighters who we've had quite a bit of screen time with - and he's just been kinda drifting off like Launch

@@feniks8931 Using weight to add resistance to your exercise is a real thing. No argument there. However, anime logic is to wear the 100+ kilo weights all day, every day for years. If your knees don't give out first, you really don't make massive gains like that. Progressive overload is real, but not like anime logic 🤣 That entire Namek arc of Goku training on the spaceship along with watching too many 80s workout montages (ex. all the Rocky movies) got me into fitness as part of my life. Otherwise I'd be playing video games and guitar all day 🤣
People acting like Goku shouldn’t struggle with this weight are missing the actual issue. It’s totally different lifting 100 kilos and just having it on you all the time. It probably doubled Goku’s weight. But if you think it’s nothing go get a light weight and just hold it. Eventually that will start to wear on you even if the weight is negligible. And Goku is training, walking around, and fighting with basically another person weighing him down.
Unfortunately, Yamcha is often given a bad rap, but people don't realize that he is one of the top 3 Humans. He is only surpassed by alien races and modified humans like cyborgs. Not to mention that he was in training with Kai for a very long time. Remember how powerful Son Goku came back and a short training in high gravity on his way to Namek increased his fighting power. Yamcha should be at least as strong as Son Goku in SSJ2 form. (I would personally even see him getting on par with ssj3) That he was often defeated is unfortunately bad writing by the creative minds.
Here's another thing that shows how the power scaling got ridiculous. When we're first introduced to Android 19 and Dr Gero, they mistake Yamcha for Goku because spiky hair and his power level. Android Saga Yamcha is as strong as pre-Namek saga Goku. Which, all things considered, was still pretty strong. That means after Yamcha died, he trained and came back way stronger. Unfortunately as he's a normal ass human, he got left in the dust immediately after
@@dragonballsupersaiyans4482 Every earthling except the Androids and Krillin got shafted in DBS. I think if Krillin wasn't written to be Goku's closest friend, he would also get the shaft. I was about to say Krillin didn't get shafted because he was there even since the beginning of DB, but Yamcha was too and he was forgotten near the end of Cell saga.
A lot of stuff didn’t add up in Og DB. While training under Master Roshi, Goku moved a *giant* rock that probably weighted a few hundred ton. At this point in DB, all the characters could probably bench press that rock with a two fingers but here they are impressed that Goku is wearing a hundred kilo in weighted cloth 😵💫

Kyle Hill I think that's how you spell it a guy here on RU-vid wore and trained in Gokus gear here and by the time he was done he was so exhausted he could barely movie Goku was not only walking but fighting all day for months wearing the gear it's far more impressive than you think
